<AUTHOR NOTE>

Hello people, I’m here to announce the launch of another little thing that some of you might already be familiar with from the Backerkit campaign.

Partly in response to popular demand (I have receipts to prove it!), we’re launching the Sylphie Plushie as a standalone purchase. So if you want your own little green birb, check out the images and link below!

I personally think it turned out quite well without going absolutely overboard with the design (we talked about making it with her small vest, but that would have been very complicated, making it more expensive, and would likely make it unsafe for children/animals, so we scrapped the idea).

Anyway, check it out for sure!

<AUTHOR NOTE OVER>

Despite Jake already acknowledging the sheer enormity of this Minor World, he still continued to underestimate just how grand its scale could be. Alongside the Shaman, three Warriors, and Virumancer, they’d continued into Arachnec territory, which seemed to just continue infinitely into the distance, no matter how far they got in.

These islands of the Minor World were truly ridiculously big. Jake knew there already was a precedent for huge platform or floating landmasses in the multiverse, but he still mentally had a hard time imagining how they could be so stupidly large. Even when Jake flew pretty far into the air, he couldn’t even begin to see the end of the island. And, sure, the toxic fog that filled the entire world did limit Jake’s vision somewhat, but his insanely high Perception still allowed him to pierce through it for the most part.

Given that these landmasses were entirely flat, Jake had assumed that if he flew up far enough, he should at least spot one of their edges. The fact that he couldn’t, and given how good his vision was, he guessed that this one island had to already have a larger surface area than all of Earth.

And this was just one island. The Shaman didn’t even know how many there were or how their sizes compared to one another, but he did say that most Venusians resided on the island where they were born for their entire lives. Though they did sometimes visit other islands, with the Shaman being cagey about how they accomplished that, making Jake instantly conclude that the Venusians had some kind of teleportation network set up.

Not an odd assumption, given the space affinity abilities displayed by the Oracle. In fact, he would find it incredibly weird if they didn’t at least have some kind of restricted or emergency teleportation system set up to reinforce villages under attack.

Jake was definitely going to visit these other islands someday, though it definitely wasn’t going to be during this visit. He only had a bit over a hundred days until it was time for him to leave for the Seat of the Exalted Prima system event, which he still assumed he could enter directly from this Minor World. Before then, Jake only planned on bonding with the Shaman by killing a lot of Arachnecs, while probably also getting in a meeting with this Circle the Oracle talked about.

Speaking of bonding with the Shaman, that was going pretty damn well, as while the Venusian wasn’t big on fighting, as he’d said, he definitely took pleasure in the killing of Arachnecs, really hammering home the deep level of hatred between the two races. So much so that when they came across a group of three patrolling Deathstalkers, the Shaman took the initiative to step forward.

“Seeing your display of power and willingness to share your abilities, I find it only fair that I do the same,” the Shaman said in his usual respectful tone. “I shall admit immediately that while I’ll certainly be inferior to you combat-wise, as a Shaman, I am considered in the higher echelon of Venusians.”

“I already figured,” Jake nodded, having naturally noticed that the Shaman gave off the strongest aura of this group by far. He had also been the one with the most forms of magic shown, such as the stealth bubble he could summon.

“As a Shaman, my primary job isn’t to be a combatant but to lead my fellow Venusians, making me quite inferior in solo combat, especially compared to the true elites of my race,” he continued, also hinting at them having more powerful variants Jake hadn’t seen.

“However, I am at least capable of defending myself and have some means of defeating foes on my own. I would gladly display those means if you would act as witness?” the Shaman asked as their group of six stalked the three Deathstalkers that were moving about seemingly in random patterns.

“I would love to,” Jake smiled, genuinely curious to see what something like a Shaman was capable of. He was clearly a caster of some kind, but that really didn’t narrow things down.

“Then allow me,” the Shaman said as he split from their group of six. Jake saw that the other Venusians looked a bit reluctant to see the Shaman go, but didn’t say or do anything.

“Relax, I’m sure he’ll be fine,” Jake said to the four with a smile.

He’d kind of hoped for one of them to answer, as he’d yet to have any of them talk to him, but they just stared at him for a couple of seconds with their big frog eyes before nodding in acknowledgment and turning their attention towards the Shaman.

Shaking his head, Jake did the same as he watched the Shaman approach the three Deathstalkers. All four B-grades were roughly the same level, with the Shaman a couple beneath the Arachnecs, not that it should make much of a difference.

As the Shaman approached them, he saw the Venusian speak, and as he did, his aura suddenly started strengthening. Immediately, the three Deathstalkers noticed their incoming attacker, but the Shaman was already upon them as Jake saw what looked like the projection of a large frog wearing robes manifest above the Shaman. Feeling this, Jake realized that, yeah, this was definitely a shaman.

Jake knew that shamans tended to rely on “external” power, such as spirits, elementals, or other channeled powers. Many shamans functioned almost like beastmasters in that they could tame elementals, while others formed connections with intelligent ones far more powerful than themselves that could then allow the shaman to channel their power, a bit reminiscent of the relationship between warlocks and demons.

Shamans working with spirits were a bit different, primarily in that spirits weren’t super well-defined. Some called ghosts and even elementals spirits, and there were plenty of monsters out there with ‘spirit’ in their names. Even the Holy Church transformed its fallen into Holy Spirits after death to inhabit the Holyland. All in all, the term spirit was extremely vague and could take many forms.

To the extent that the term could be entirely self-defined. In many cases, the spirits referred to by shamans didn’t actually refer to any creatures that existed. Instead, they were conceptual representations of power that the shaman manifested solely through their own will, through what was, in effect, a variant of faith energy. The shaman in question truly believed that the spirits he or she referred to were real, because in some ways, they were.

Enough shamans with the same Legacy would channel the same spirits, making those spirits seem more “real” to all of them. Not unlike the birth of a False God, the spirit would become a well-defined concept that had set traits and whatnot, truly allowing the shamans to channel a higher power.

Something that was on full display as the Venusian Shaman struck the first Deathstalker. The Shaman’s aura had grown more than twice as strong as before, and with a single wave of his hand, the terrain below the three Arachnecs erupted and rose to consume them.

Reacting swiftly, the B-grades turned into their semi-invisible forms as they shot into the air towards the Shaman, who seemed more than prepared. Whitish barriers appeared to block two of the charging Arachnecs, while the Shaman held up a webbed hand towards the third one and clenched.

Jake felt space itself implode around the Deathstalker, compressing it, and the undead let out a loud shriek as its limbs were forcibly squished together. Raising his second hand, the Shaman clenched it into a fist as if holding down on something before he swung his hand downwards, and after a moment’s delay, a transparent spear was conjured and stabbed down into the restrained Arachnec.

Rather than sending decaying flesh flying, the spear phased into the B-grade, making it shriek even louder as Jake nodded.

Straight for the soul.

Rather than targeting the physical body, this attack had pierced into the Soulshape of the Arachnec Deathstalker, ignoring all defenses and doing pretty solid damage. Speaking of solid, the frog made an odd motion with his hand that was sealing the Deathstalker’s movements, making the space energy move and fuse into the spear as he made a pushing motion.

The spear seemed to become physical while already inside the Arachnec’s body, right as the B-grade was blasted down towards the ground, skewered by the spear, and pinned down.

Right then, the two other Deathstalkers that had been held back by the Shaman’s barriers broke through, but before they could strike at the Venusian, he teleported further into the air and placed his palms together.

The Shaman inhaled deeply as his cheeks expanded just like, well, a frog’s. They grew to quite an impressive size before the Venusian exhaled, releasing what Jake at first thought was a torrent of water. Upon closer inspection, this liquid wasn’t water at all, but some odd spirit-liquid that blasted down towards the two Deathstalkers that were already charging back up towards the frog.

They were blasted head-on and sent tumbling down, where they also hit their third comrade, who remained pinned to the ground. The Shaman didn’t let up as he kept blasting down his odd liquid energy that seemed to evaporate instantly after hitting the ground, continually pressing the three B-grades into the ground as wounds accumulated on their bodies. The liquid seemed to have a corrosive quality, whittling away at the three Arachnecs until they finally got their bearings.

All three released a loud shriek as their bodies emanated strong death energy that brought them some reprieve, allowing them to split up and dodge in three different directions out of the waterfall of corrosive liquid.

The Shaman, who continued spitting out liquid as his cheeks very slowly deflated, spread out his arms and opened his palms before slowly starting to bring them together. The projection of the large, robed frog that had become nearly invisible came back with force as he mimicked the Shaman’s movements, also closing its palms.

Down on the ground, all the Deathstalkers seemed to hit an invisible wall that started pushing them back into the Shaman’s attack. Like a closing dome, the Arachnecs were forced back into the corrosive spout, which began to narrow and grow in intensity as the three B-grades were pressed together.

Jake felt the powerful space magic at work, and, perhaps due to his increased sensitivity towards the concept, he could see the faint vibrations marking the borders of the dense space wall that slowly imploded around the B-grades. The Arachnecs tried to attack the wall with their many scythes, but their attacks seemed to merely sweep through it, as if hitting gaps in the wall. In truth, they were hitting the space wall and effectively tore through it, but that was where the ingenious design of said wall came into play.

The entire thing was like a thin net, meaning that when the Deathstalkers cut it, they simply severed a line of strings that could rapidly regenerate, while the rest of the net would keep pressing onto them. Larger attacks would be forced to contend with more layers of this net, but if Jake had wanted to break through it, he would have definitely gone with large-scale attacks to burn through the Shaman’s energy reserves. That, or he would find a way to slip through it somehow.

Sadly for the Arachnecs, they were dumber and weaker than Jake, making them just swipe away uselessly until they were all immersed in the corrosive liquid once more. Its growing intensity made the damage increase, shearing away at the decaying flesh of the Arachnecs that seemed to finally realize they couldn’t break the space walls.

Given that, they had only one direction to move. As one, they all exploded with energy and used their movement speed to charge up at the Shaman, their bodies taking immense damage as they dove through the stream of spiritual liquid all the way up. They were clearly more than willing to give up their own lives to take out the Shaman, but unfortunately for them, the frog had no intention of directly engaging with them.

The Shaman stopped pressing his palms together, dismissing the space walls, and instead thrust both palms forward as he also stopped spewing the corrosive liquid. A dense wall of space magic was shot downwards to block the charging Deathstalkers, but two of them had clearly adapted to the Venusian’s attacks and dodged the wall.

Defending himself, the Shaman summoned more space barriers, but one of the Deathstalkers made it through and appeared behind him using its semi-invisibility. Its scythe descended upon the frog, and Jake was about to react by using Primal Gaze, but, based on how the other Venusians didn’t have any big reactions, he held himself back.

It turned out that he indeed didn’t have to react, as something very weird happened when the Deathstalker struck. Its hit seemed to fade straight through the Shaman, as instead, the projection of a robed frog had its robe slightly torn on one side, effectively absorbing the blow.

Spinning around, the Shaman punched forward with a palm, releasing a blast of energy that seemed to contain some of the Arachnec’s own energy. As this blow came out, the robe on the frog projection was also instantly mended as if it had never happened. The B-grade was sent flying with two of its scythe arms severed from the powerful blow, and the Shaman clearly wasn’t done yet.

Lifting the same palm he’d used to attack earlier, the Shaman muttered a single word, and as he did, the large projection of the huge frog also lifted its palm towards the Deathstalker. Jake got an odd sensation as an invisible pulse of energy was sent towards the Arachnec Deathstalker.

It struck the B-grade that... died. Its soul was extinguished by that one attack, making Jake frown deeply. He wasn’t sure what kind of weird shamanistic magic that was, but it definitely gave him a disquieting feeling.

Not that the Deathstalkers seemed to care, as the remaining two continued trying to attack the Shaman despite their worsening injuries. Their sense of self-preservation was truly nonexistent.

Seeing their approach, the Shaman seemed intent on finishing them off quickly. He made some odd hand movements that were mirrored by the robed projection behind him. The energy in his immediate surroundings began to warp and shiver, right as the frog clapped his hands together.

An invisible shockwave of unknown concepts was released, striking both charging Arachnecs. Their movements slowed and became sluggish as the shaman and projection both spread their hands apart and held their palms towards the B-grades. They froze mid-air and started squirming, constrained by some invisible concept as Jake saw their souls being shredded apart.

That’s when Jake saw the most surprising thing yet. The Shaman seemed to really strain himself as he kept using his two hands to constrain the Arachnecs as the projection moved on its own. It made several odd motions as its robe fluttered, forming several layers in front of it, and from these many layers, a new figure was revealed.

A very familiar one.

This figure walked out as a bow appeared in its hand. With a drawing motion, an arrow appeared in its hand as the masked humanoid figure drew its bow and channeled its power for a few moments before releasing the arrow.

An explosion of energy erupted as the arrow descended into one of the Arachnecs, blasting it towards the ground with a large hole in its abdomen. Shortly after, a second arrow struck the other B-grade, also sending it down into the ground.

The summoned figure, which was obviously a projection of Jake, dispersed into spiritual smoke as the heavily breathing Shaman clenched both fists, and down below, the two Deathstalkers finally had their souls crushed, the accumulated damage too much for them to handle.

With a tired sigh, the Shaman lowered his hands, the projection behind him disappearing.

Jake stared for several seconds as he looked down at the dead Arachnecs, seeing the clear signs of destructive energies dispersing from their bodies. Energies left by the arrows that very closely resembled Jake’s own arcane affinity. It wasn’t the same, but it had nearly identical properties.

“I hope you do not take offense at my attempt at channeling your visage,” the Shaman said, pulling Jake out of his own thoughts.

“No... no, I’m just surprised,” Jake muttered. He had a lot of thoughts, but one thing was for sure... shamans were a fucking weird caster archetype.

Thank u for the story

Feels like witchy magic all over again it doesn't make much sense, still pretty interesting that he could try to channel jake I wonder if that was meant to be easier than it was considering how powerful jake is for his level. Tyftc

BlackBolt7129

I love seeing the cool abilities others have besides Jake

Michael Fannon

Is this the birth of evil Jake? Or would it be good Jake? Either way, it won't be fun Jake.

Aaron Barba

I definitely love your take on Shamans and I think this Venusian has some of the coolest powers I've seen recently

Seemed like him channeling just two arrow strikes heavily drained him, showing just how powerful even the visage of jake is compared to him. More impressive he was even able to mostly mimick jakes arcane energy.

Well that’s quite flattering! That’s a pretty cool power, ngl. Thanks for this chapter!

Tftc channeling Jake was pretty cool

David

Anyone else imagine the hand motions as a Jutsu? 😂

Jordan Rogers

And with them being frogs 🐸, might we find some like, gamabunta? Ninja frogs the size of a mountain? Especially since this dude has a sort of spirit summon? Jake needs a ninja arc for sure 🤣 be cool if sword saint would join him on that adventure

Tr0LLach

Cmon Jake, give the man a Mana Potion before you space out, smh

Tomer Yud

Awesome! I love the frog people

Interesting 🧐 Tftc 🍻

Alex

Whelp, he found his first worshippers for s grade I see

djthomp

Nice to see that Froggie can kick some serious death spider ass too. That was an interesting thing it did with that projection of Jake at the end.

Michelle Maurice

I am so in love with this mini side quest. TFTC

Phoenixdrop

Okay that that is interesting also I hope Jake realizes he’s wearing his mask and takes it off so he can explain that he’s just wearing a mask you know now that he’s seen himself from that projection

CocoaBleu

Now THAT was unexpected…

Cabell

Idea: Jake uses Jake juice on an egg and we get super frog

definitelynotbrjenness

After prima event, Casper goes to top secret b grade training area where they fight alongside these really cool undead spiders against evil frog people. Suddenly a purple arrow appears between his feet. Looking up he she's a confused Jake. Turns out this is the wonder that was lost when villy went on a rampage. At least two connections have been found.

Loststar7

I wholeheartedly agree. That’s a very neat frog. 🐸

David

Yes you were just hatched in the webtoon! And yes, you're ADORABLE!

Cory S.

I had the same thought while reading this chapter.

David

I must have missed this. S grades need worshippers?? Please tell me where to find this!!!

Frosgods

Probably not now but could if he somehow agree to it, that skill probably takes shaman knowledge about projected figure, have some other condition like being not hostile etc. and be strengthen if donor acknowledge use of skill without rejection or cooperate with user

Dragon

He knows he is still wearing his mask and scales. It’s on purpose re read the last few chapters

Dragon

He’s making a joke

Phoenixdrop

His scales yes he absolutely knows about the scales his mask I’m a little iffy on if he remembers he still has that on

Kevin Watson

super fuckin cool, i wonder if the Shaman’s Jake-Spirit is stronger or weaker due to the “false” visage. Is that a skill from his variation or some sort of freeform? would it get stronger if they formed a stronger bond? tftc

zran

not his first one, plenty already on earth as well on the malefic viper order, and that being the reason why one of his classes offered on b grade was "exalted"(if you forgot, vilas told him what a class with "exalted" uses faith power @David no, they dont, gods do not need them(otherwise could not make any sense duskleaf was so against the idea of having worshippers), so neither s graders need them

joseph

it might be helpful, we know there are requirements to become a god, but the only one we know is the gate of enlightenment. It's entirely possible that harnessing faith in some fashion is another requirement, though considering how many gods don't care about faith, I find it unlikely.

Xander

TFTC :) Suggested edits: "of *power* that the shaman manifested solely through their own *power* repetitive and kinda confusing. Maybe "will" for the second one? "clenched *as if holding down* as he swung it downwards" Reading ahead maybe just ditch the whole middle part to clarify the imagery? I might suggest a larger edit rewording the entire last sentence "Raising his other hand, the Shaman made a fist and swung it downwards. After a moments delay, a..." "Its *increased* intensity made the damage *increase*," repetition, maybe "ramped up the damage" instead? "but it definitely gave him an *off-putting* feeling." weird word choice. I would suggest "disquieting" instead.

Dan

I wonder what'd happen if he used some in the pool itself, since all of the tadpoles feed off of that energy to grow. Might have a whole generation of Primal Croakers (This would probably only work if the energy originates from a natural treasure, not the liquid itself)

RonGAR

I'll be honest, I thought Jake would've been split in his response to his visage being 'summoned' like that. I thought he wouldn't like the fact that someone would be capable of using his abilities or at least the watered-down version of his abilities. But I also thought he would be excited about the chance to battle a shaman in an attempt to 'fight himself'. Still... see what happens when you give up so much information about yourself??? lol

Jamie Doheny

This can’t be true, that was like 2 years ago

Kevin Hargett

I believe it was supposed to be easier but because Jake is a beastly frickin weirdo it probably took more out of the frog boi than he thought it would. It also mentions how his arcane affinity wasn’t exact but very close. So I’m wondering if frogman has some insights into the arcane affinity now because of the visage?

Borbino the great

That’s kinda huge actually I didn’t think of that it would be kinda fun to see Jake have an army of loyal frog followers

Josie

If I'm reading this right, in order for the Shaman to channel a visage of Jake it means he sees Jake as a higher power, has faith akin to the creation of a false god, and is channeling that faith energy to kill these spiders So you're telling me baby B Jake hasn't even been here for a full day and bro's got an accidental frog cult. Is that what I just read?

PWeygandt

I love that the Venusian clearly states that he is borrowing Jake's visage to utilize his power. It shows that its all very intentional and I REALLY hope we get this Venusian out into the 93rd Universe with the rest of his crew! Get that frog some Jake's Juice so we can have the Minor Worlds first Venusian Primal Shaman

definitelynotbrjenness

jake coordinates for residents of Venus to meet with united tribes before deciding to become an inner member of the order. United tribes announce a formal alliance with the order. he goes to demon wedding where they make a formal announcement strengthening their ties to the order at the highest levels. peeps rem that jake visited pantheon of life before they made their announcement. jake is heralded as a political mastermind.

Frosgods

Probably weaker due to being a result of skill of B grade and even if not it would just have higher firepower and could pull half of insane feats Jake can

Ian

Zog is clearly aware based on a chapter from last week so at least we know there's some form of intent around it

Bmax

It genuinely seems that way, and imagine how that image will strengthen when he shows them how to make potions. Keep in mind he was working on how to stabilize and change materials in their pure form. All plants have to have some kind of life energy to be alive so if he can separate that and show them How to make health pots……

Fylbrom

So Venusian Shamans seem to have the ability to channel the 'visage' of someone they view as 'superior' to them in combat (according to the shamans own words) and mimic that warriors attacks. Even if nothing else, which im sure is not the case since Zog is a beast, that alone makes the venusian people one of, if not potentially the most versatile species in the multiverse combat wise. They theoretically could look at any Warrior in the multiverse, study them, and bring that 'warrior-visage/spirit' into their collective fold for the next generation of shamans. That's actually quite mind boggling to try and think about. Im super curious to see what else Zog reveals about our new favorite monster-type!

Bruno Daxo

Now I think I can see the signs of what Zogarth is building here... what could be more "primal" than tribal and shamanic things, with their rituals that worship "false gods"? ... I'm starting to see what might be the "exalted primal" thirst and its relationship with Jake, and the signs of "extinct" or marginalized races emerging... I think the theme of the entire 93rd universe would be a second chance for some unlucky beings from the past to resurface, or perhaps the wonder of the world is like Jake's ability, to revisit the past and learn something from it... I don't know if you understand, but I'm talking about seeing the story of the emergence of primordial beings firsthand and perhaps, which beings or species were their competitors and lost the race. But they may be returning for a rematch now that the pantheon is complete with the return of the one who is probably the "Wisest" to whistle at the right time to start the game and serve his teammates with powerful isotonic drinks and steroids.

Dragon

The frog directly comments on how strange his races face look to them. And Jake has a mental self commentary about it being on purpose

MarineDebris

Neither Jake, nor the Venusians-especially the Oracle-would allow their sacred pool to be messed with like that. One egg, if Jake properly explained the intent of his Jake Juice, then maybe.

Phoenixdrop

No the shaman was thinking to himself and Jake was talking about the scales

blucube 14

Thanks for the chapter!

Fylbrom

He already has the Order, Endless Empire, and Pantheon as hard allies to him personally. He is on very good terms with the 2nd and 4th Hells, the Undead Faction, Valhal, and the Seeker. He has the intense interest of Eversmile, the Wyrmgod, and the United Tribes, all of whom want him to live, if only for their own benefit in the future. Jake is already a political mastermind because his powers and abilities are strong enough to demand equal footing. That alone makes him (as an individual) more politically Adept than basically every other mortal in the multiverse. Adding a new species of mortals, such as the Venusians would be just another notch on his belt at this point.

Fylbrom

Idk about faith persay, it seems the Shaman saw him as 'superior in combat' which doesn't really mean he had faith in Jake, just that the Venusian Shamans Archetype could channel the 'visage' of those they see as 'superior'. Same id guess with the big frog spirit. It's probably a 'visage' of a strong venusian Shaman, or perhaps the Oracle herself. That's my take anyways.

definitelynotbrjenness

ahh...but is it the first thing that comes to mind when people who don't know him speak about him.

Josie

I didn't say faith in Jake directly. The Shaman's faith is in this spirit he manifested, the spirit he manifested based on Jake. He did this when he doesn't have any idea yet of the full extent of Jake's crazy. This spirit that was channeled and killed these bgrade spiders is just from this one shaman's faith alone -- it's going to get a hell of a lot more powerful as more shaman join in channeling this thing and adding more definition to it. It's going to get stupid powerful given enough time and faith

Seen Death

Yes, this is clearly more proof that Jake severely underestimated how he needs to act around people he has no clue about While jake didnt have to pull out his secret moves, it was enough for the shaman to atleast partially understand what he was doing Seems like the more the shamans know about their summoned spirits, the more powerful they can be - jakes unique arcane affinity was stated as really hard to understand bythe shaman himself

Josie

Jake's commentary is based on what he knows of shaman throughout the multiverse. So this display of ability isn't somehow unique to Venusians

Seen Death

Imagine if the shaman copied jake using eternal shadow lol Could have 4 jakes somewhere at the same time haha Doubt it would be a good use for the shaman to do though, its mostly for repositioning / confusion / a bit of bonus damage Unlike what he used which was pure damage (although i dont think jake showed off that ability to be copied anyways)

definitelynotbrjenness

will frog shaman have difficulty explaining to the oracle by how much he failed to channel Jake's full power.

Fylbrom

Shamans dont all follow the same rules. Remember in the Pantheon with the ape shamans? They channeled the spirit of their ancestors and dead, very different from what we see here. I'd imagine, Shamans as a baseline, channel power from something else, a concept, rather than their own strength. For the apes, the concept seemed to be 'strength of the fallen' or something similar, for the Venusians, its more akin to chanelling the concept of a 'greater warriors power'. Concepts are... weird to try and understand tho. Lol

Fylbrom

Oh I can definitely agree with that. With a better understanding all things gain strength after all! As more Venusians also start understanding the 'spirit of jake' concept it could get out of hand quite quickly lol

patrick__starz

Thoughts on the EastBound Monk being a shaman type and jakes experience here will help him defeat the monk?

definitelynotbrjenness

i'm amusing myself with the image on the oracle's face when the shaman explains he exhausted himself channeling a fraction of jake's power.

ABTelford

Love this chapter!

Jason Connors

He may explain that it was extremely taxing and costly the channel his visage. Making the Oracle curious how a early B grade holds such potent records that the Shaman not even completely succeeding still felt a heavy toll channeling Jake visage.

Cabell

But would the water count as a natural treasure

Lemonsqueezy

Ooh. I was definitely getting some monk vibes from the shaman. Definitely a learning experience for Jake and that knowledge will probably be used in the future by Jake when it comes to dealing with the Monk.

Lemonsqueezy

And I am pretty sure Jake didn't go all out either.

Lemonsqueezy

Interesting. Really haven't thought much about what the World Wonder's theme would be.

Jimbo

Did that frog just kill those spiders with death-vomit?

Lemonsqueezy

Just a fraction of the power Jake showed the shaman. Jake only used 50% of his boosting skill and is still trying the get used to what he is capable of in B-Grade. Jake also hasn't upgraded any of his gear yet.

Peter Smith

Shaman dude is surprised and tlslightly terrified at the spiritual strain coming from summoning a jake clone. Especially since it should be vastly weaker and still was that heavy.

Elijah Soleil

I hope we get a scene where the frogs invade a planet with Miranda and at the end she summons a frog storm to finish the fight.

Raymond Whitehead

I am amused that Jake seems to have forgotten again that he is still wearing his mask, and I wonder if the projection of himself will remind him

Anime Problem

With how powerful and influential Jake is and will be he might essentially become a living spiritual anchor for the Venusians especially since he'll be helping them find the exit.

Josie

anyone interested in creating a list of all times we suspect villy attempted sharing forbidden knowledge? I am suspicious of a lot of the times villy refused to give jake specific information saying it would be fun to let him figure it out. now, for the first specific instance I would like to add, I think some of you brainiacs pointed it out at the time... after the fight with yrel, jake asked what happened if you upgraded a mythical skill without adding divinity. villy responded, "exactly" or something to that effect not answering.

He's also tried to tell Jake Identify is a FS Legacy skill but was Forbidden knowledge until one day it wasn't

yeah, I think that came out when jake got a sacred skill. where villy tried to tell him I don't know, but i rem a somewhat off conversation between the two when jake figures out the sage made meditate. of course, that is the skill that became sacred and prompted villy saying, I've tried to tell you forbidden knowledge before ... so my mind may just be mixing my peanut butter into my chocolate. side note...artemus sitting there asking, u 2 are talking about forbidden knowledge, aren't you

Josie

Mixing P&B just means your mind auto crafts Reeses 😋. May you forever be the bane of chocoholics with a peanut allergy 👍

Scotty Tweedie

"I have seen one mourn his broken axe by annihilating an entire race of poisonous frog-like creatures, leading to their extinction after one corroded his axe into nothingness" Quote from Villy just after the treasure hunt seeming quite familiar, especially after the shaman's spirit liquid attack was described as corrosive

Bookreader97

Hilarious that they think humans have no mouths

Michael

This is promising, I’m hoping Jake gets to upgrade one of these frogs w Jake juice and take it outside with him. Also how soon can Jake fight a weak A grade? Or at least peak B grade?

Michael

Monks are about concepts, not magic. So he’ll probably have some time, space, speed bending abilities, like when Artemis sparred w Jake inside his coliseum of mortals in and the arrows were way too fast for Jake

Michael

To be fair Jake should just use that skill to channel Villy in front of the A grades, and convert all the frogs to join the order and get a blessing

Nexas Aurelias

He most likely wont be able to defeat an A grade until hes at least mid more likely late B grade. I do think hed be able to survive/escape an A grade even now however to acrually put up a fight we got a while

Posiden 300

That was fucking awesome at the end
