Hey fam Quick question. I was debating with some friends. If a Korean artist makes an all English song is it still considered k-pop? Kinda like Dynamite, PTD and butter My answer is no, with the argument, imagine T swift made an all Korean song would that be considered American pop?

hmm, I had this conversation on stream the other day with another group that's considered a KPOP group with all English tracks. I think for me it's split both ways. I think the majority of groups in the KPOP space that come out with a full English track can still be considered a KPOP track since the genre KPOP is their home. If we used your example of Taylor Swift would it be considered an American POP song still if taylor swift dropped a full Korean song? Or would it just be a KPOP song? I feel like it would be both. But it's a good debate for sure haha

Hehe interesting you just had a conversation about it. I wasn’t in your stream tho. I see your point however isn’t it supposed to have Korean lyrics in to be Korean pop? Tracks like for example Dynamite was made for the western charts and it’s fine but i think it kinda takes away the k-pop other than them being Korean

I personally don't know what it takes to be called a KPOP song 😅 I see your point for sure but that's why I brought up the Taylor Swift example. If a Taylor Swift song is in Korean I feel like it would chart in both KPOP & Western charts but because her " home" would be western pop I believe it would be classified as both a western pop hit an KPOP hit. Again this is just MY opinion that sort of sucks as I think it's both 😂

Don’t know what’s the criteria is since the genres in the songs varies so much but in my opinion it should involve Korean And I see how you can think it could be both But no bro you’re not really getting me closer to either 😂
