E. Watson

these are so fuckin good

Aaron J

I'm down with joining the Street Fight commune.

Ryan

It breaks my heart that even Street Fight promotes neo colonialism, in episodes like this. I cant believe they still post the picture of Brace in his combat uniform. I really expected better from ya'll. Its fine to interview him but multiple times during the show he mentioned his involvement with the Kurds, yet never a peep from Bryan about the problems with modern Middle Eastern Crusades. Very dissapointing. Please fix this mistake because it breeds the celebration of imperialistic wars. Thanks for your time.

m w b

lol what the fuck are you talking about? wearing fatigues to defend an autonomous socialist federation from ISIS and Erdogan is not a "combat uniform" and has nothing to do with "neo colonialism [sic]"

Ryan

I suppose you were being sarcastic @woofdog, when you said lecture, becuse you are upset about me critiquing the promotion of murder half way around the world. Im not trying to start a fight, but it may cause the community to become emotional when I speak negatively about this topic. Im willing for that to happen if it brings to attention the need for non imperialism in Western culture. We dont have to be the saviours with military intervention.

m w b

nothing says "imperialism" like defending the sovereignty of an autonomous socialist federation lmao

Ryan

Check out this article on how Rojava is an imperialist project. I can tell you all are coming from a good place because you want to help but we should be more informed before we celebrate militarized violence over seas.

Ryan

I support the socialist movements there, but Western people going to fix the mess in the Middle East is what got the Kurds displaced, into Syria, in the 1st place.

Ryan

The USAID has spent over $7.7 billion dollars in Syria since 2001 to help "stabalize" Syria. That money goes into help building up alternative goverments, such as Rojava.

Tim Lewis

from my understanding they also received training and support from the CIA

Ryan

Check out Abbie Martin's latest video explaining how the U.S. is not leaving Syria, but in fact, ramping it more than ever before.

Ryan

Its also important to point out that the International Syrian Support Group gave $123 million in nonlethal aid to the Free Syrian Army., 2013. The FSA and the YPG had a Euphrates Volcano joint operations room during this time period. Scary stuff.

Robin

This shit is fucking dumb, Brace is not the US Military.

Ryan

I never said Brace was in the US military. What is dumb with giving substantial evidence about the Western intelligence agencies supporting a coup in the Middle East, that sadly many on the left support? Im just trying point out that Brace is fine. Its just the celebration of the military coup he was involved in, on the outskirts of the empire, that needs to be addressed.

Ryan

Why should the left have full support for the Rojava project, when their society openly supports having CIA and US Special Ops living amongst them and befriending them? I thought that these were the exact type of mega violent/ hierarchical issues in the US that we were concerned about here. Why does it not matter on the other side of the planet?

goober

Dont know what this guys saying but i agree

Marcin Baran

Well, they had to choose between working with US and facing genocide. Western leftists are often too comfortable to understand that, judging others form their position of privilege.

Marcin Baran

International left absolutely turned it's back and betrayed Rojava, effectively giving up it's moral right to criticize Rojava for the choices of allies it had to make.

Chris Scully

Your arguments seem to be centered around guilt by association. The question you raise of "Are you actually saying that its ok to side and embed oneself with the CIA, in some instances?" seems like the wrong way to think, IMO. Are you saying that if the CIA embeds itself within movement A, that it is never OK to side with movement A? What if the CIA embeds itself in all sides? If you follow your logic, it means that the CIA can involve themselves with literally any group, clandestinely or otherwise, and it creates a poison pill for any moral argument for solidarity or support. I don't agree with that. If that's the case, then the CIA can defeat the moral argument of supporting literally any group. The friend (or convenient short term ally) of my enemy is therefore my enemy? I am not arguing for any specific position on Rojava, I am actually really ignorant on the topic, but I don't quite follow or agree with your arguments. I'll check out the links when I get some time though, thanks.

streetfightradio

Well the pic that comes up when you Google him is in the uniform that's why Jake used it when he made this post. Bryan probably didn't say anything about Middle Eastern Crusades because he probably hasn't read enough on the topic to know anything about it and we both feel like our opinion on that matter is pretty useless to the people on the ground. But the real truth is Bryan just likes talking to brace and thinks it's fun as a bonus show.

Ryan

Thanks for your consideration. Keep up the good work and yall do a great job. Brace is super funny too, and I appreciate the community willing to discuss such diffucult topics.

Alaric

brace is a sweetheart and these bonus shows with him are rad, excited that this might become a normal thing for y'all!

Imagine thinking the imperial superpowers of the West sending thousands of troops into Kurdistan is the same thing as a guy from a punk band sneaking across the border to help the YPG.

Ryan

They are not the same, but if someone from the left is going overseas to join with the CIA's battle, then they are essentially joining the CIA's agenda. The YPG needs to denounce these types of Western foreign power clandestine agencies. Until then we can not participate with any group that openly endorses the CIA and US Military Special Ops.

Ryan

Thank you for saying that you are going to check out those article links, because it is very important to keep an open mind on this complicated subject. The media on both sides of the political spectrum has went all out Rambo 3, when referring to Rojava. I still stand by always rejecting uniting with any leftist organization that openly accepts the CIA and Special Ops. We must stop openly endorsing any foreign Westerns picking up arms in this region, until the Kurds openly reject these powers in their operation of governmental structure and fighting habits.

Ryan

Many groups and movements today that oppose imperialism at various levels, recognize that the U.S. is in fact an empire that has integrated the productive forces of the world’s societies into a global system that it dominates. Yet they still promote outmoded nationalist lines. Others promote class struggle, but have no concept of what roles the vast multitudes of unemployable poor, marginalized and lumpen might play pro or contra. More still promote outmoded or otherwise subjective forms of struggle that are unsuited or unresponsive to today’s new world social-political-economic dynamics. We must apply the line of Revolutionary Intercommunalism which promotes building unity between communities, and forging a worldwide culture of resistance to all oppression. The imperialists are waging a “War on the Poor” which we must counter with strategies of mutual assistance and survival programs, with the object of creating liberated areas and alternative institutions of dual power. The poor urban regions must be transformed into revolutionary base areas culturally, socially and politically. We must create “People’s Power” at the grassroots level. And we must counter the imperialists’ strategy of criminalizing and mass imprisoning the poor, while transforming the prisons and jails into “Schools of Liberation,” to educate and politicize the lumpen and marginalized on the inside Kevin Rashid Johnson- Minister of Defense, NABPP-Prison Chapter

Ryan

Check out this conclusion, from an article written by my friend. Rashid, explains the importance of intercommunialism, when always resisting imperialistic power.

Ryan

Brace was helping to destabilize a country, with the help of the worlds largest super powers, to help create a new nation state. That type of alliance goes against the usefulness of intercommunialism, that is needed for the lumpen class to join the struggle.

Marcin Baran

"Are you actually saying that its ok to side and embed oneself with the CIA, in some instances?" I'm not saying what is ok and what is not, because I don't feel comfortable passing judgement from where I'm sitting. I've only told you what the reality of the situation is. You seem to have it all figured out, though. Good for you, I guess.

Ryan

We now know that you think its ok to sometimes embed oneself with the CIA, with that answer This is valuable information for the Patreon community. Once again, Brace is cool but, its not cool when he talks positively about Western Imperialism intervention, in Northern Syria. Im actually suprised about the reactions I have been getting about this topic.
