High Five Friday 5/17/19 (Patreon)

 Howdy,

Hope your week is going well. The Southwest Tour Tickets are still available!! I got a lot of media for y'all this week.

• The Art Of Organized Noize - Since we started this thing with Big Boy's recommendation of Kate Bush that led to multi-instrumentalists Gentle Giant I am going to recommend y'all watch this documentary about Organized Noize. The live from the dungeon musicians and producers of Outkasts earliest hits. The stories and the sounds are incredible. Inspiring stuff for artists and creators of all type. This is good for Dungeon Family fans, music fans, and inspirational moments for artists and creators.

• The Lobster - I really did not think I would like this movie but I loved it! It's a dystopian sci-fi story but the rules of relationships have been turned on their head. I was howling at some of the stuff. It is shocking and hilarious and kinda turns into an action movie for a bit. Really perplexing but memorable movie. By reading about I found out about my next recommendation.

• We by Yevgeny Zamyatin - Considered "the first dystopian novel" by people who need catchphrases to say at parties.  The spark of inspiration for 1984, Anthem, Brazil, Brave New World, and The lobster. It's the future and there are no more personalities or individual purisuits anymore. All people are a number that is part of the We, their utopian society. Queue the lovely lady who introduces him to his soul and you got yourself a bonafide classic.  The unique thing about this book is that it is written as journal. A guy starts keeping a journal because he has started thinking for himself and documents everything. The translation of this is wonderful I really enjoyed the verbose way of writing and flowery language. It's like 200 pages you could crush the whole thing on a Sunday.

• Downtown Boys - I did a bonus show with them but you should listen to their music! They are on tour right now too! Also one of their members is the person who quit their job with a marching band.

• The Rise and Fall of Black TV (feat. Erika Alexander) by The Nod Podcast - Maxine Shaw attorney at law talks about her rise to fame and black television shows in the 90's. Every Living Single fan should listen.

I am going to see Anderson .Paak in Nashville tonight 😝,

Brett
