Ahoy-hoy,

Hope your week is going well. Tickets for the Trillbillies show in Lexington are here!! I am going to drop off a check today to secure our spot in Columbus on Friday June 28 as well. This week we released the Travel Zine. Here are 5 things I think  you should know about this week.

  • Give tiny gifts - I have a friend who I say is always doing 51% of our relationship. He is always doing more for me than I am for him. Whenever we meet up he will bring me one beer he thought I would like, a funny sticker he found, a plant cutting, etc. A lot of it is free and most of it is less than a $1. If you're out and you see a new flavor of candy your friend would flip for or you find a goofy flyer for an event y'all can laugh about take a minute to grab it and share.  It's a great way to build long lasting relationships and it feels good to let someone know you care.

  • Momentum landing page for chrome and firefox - I like this way better than the Chrome landing tab. The standard "top sites" when I open a new tab only makes me waste more time on Facebook and Twitter. This takes away the impulse to constantly click on social media when you open a new tab. I've used the free version for months now.

  • Ain't It Fun by Paramore. I heard this song shopping the other day and I am obsessed now. It is just sung with a sweet demeanor that devolves into a wonderful sarcastic twinge. Being at the store and seeing all the consumerist shit and then having a song version of the t-shirt that says, "Are we having fun yet?" was just transcendental for me. Crank it!

  • Reel Injun - Incredibly good documentary about Native Americans in Hollywood that links it to the history of native representation and treatment in America. It's got a lot of important information and it introduced me to a lot of movies I want to see now. everyone should watch it. I watched it for free on the Kanopy (library) app.

  • "If it's some style, especially some shrink-wrapped thing hanging on a wall at Toys 'R' Us, then it won't live, it won't be dynamic … It becomes exactly what the marketing people want — a genre, something to make their job easier. But if it's something like, "Everybody's telling me the wall's over there, but I'm going to push against it and see if it's really there" — to me, that's what punk is. An idealistic attitude." - Mike Watt of Minutemen

Read the rest of the High Five Fridays.

Peace,

Brett

I enjoy doing them. I usually feel like it's going to be impossible but then a rush of stuff comes to me. I think it improves my week to think about the things that made it easier. it's like a gratitude journal almost.
