Come see us this week!! We are gonna have a Struggle Session and a Street fight all in one night. I am trying to get back on track while lots of new exciting things come flying into my orbit.

  • He Would Have Laughed by Deerhunter - Closing track from one of my favorite albums. A tribute to the late great Jay Reatard. I love the haunting nature of this whole thing. The jingle jangle of a traveling circus full of instruments drive the song forward but when they stop to make room for Bradford Cox’s vocals it sounds like a painful moan coming from down the hallway. The song has the jaunty feel of an aimless walk, unknowing of the fatigue building up in your muscles and bones, and the moment you stop to rest, a feeling of dread takes over, about how far the journey home is or where you have to go now. Finally around 5 minutes in we get to the end of the song and now the wailing comes to a crawl and Cox croaks out a tired and confused list of bleary eyed questions and statements.

  • Ex Machina - I wish someone would have told me about this one earlier. It’s Alex Garland, who has a bunch of other hits. I guess I need to hang out with my weed guy more. This is why I love sci-fi, and like the movie Moon, this story takes place in isolation, which to me makes it feel like a science experiment. It provides a controlled environment to see how people react. Basically what happens is a very hunky Llewyn Davis (Oscar Isaac), puts out a call for competition among the best coders at his Facebook/Google company, and the winner is flown out to the middle of nowhere to meet him. That winner is played by Domhnall Gleeson (who was also amazing in that movie Frank), and he is tasked with conducting a Turing test. That’s when a human talks to AI and tries to determine if it is capable of thinking like a human being. That AI is Alicia Vikander who is well suited for the role. Most of the movie she is a face attached to a CGI robot model, and it still works well, because of the hard work she is doing here. This movie is like a great episode of twlight zone in that the whole thing can be explained in 30 seconds but the questions about human behavior will be ringing in your brain for years.recommend for People who liked Her, cylons, Black Mirror fans, and anybody who gets in screaming matches about killing all the robots before they get us.

  • Lao Tzu - "Stillness is the natural way of things, A hurricane does not outlast the morning, A cloudburst does not outlast the day."

  •  Clean your bathroom - If you're in a poopy mood or having intrusive thoughts about not cleaning or doing anything just go knock out the bathroom. It takes 20 minutes or less and it's a simple accomplishment that feels great. Get some bonus dopamine with a cleaner that has a smell you love. Something

  •  The Story Of Terrence K. Williams by Minion Death Cult - A deep dive into a very weird pocket of the internet. This is the conspiracy crackpot that Donald Trump retweeted about Epstein, who previously was famous for being racist to Sarah Jeong on Fox. This made me laugh because his catchphrase is "you need to go to bed." and I do say, "Go to bed" sometimes, when my wife or kid annoys me. We argue about it because I say it means sleep but my wife flippantly says, "I can do all kinds of things in the bed it doesn't just mean sleep." You need to go to bed and listen to this.
