Hey hey hey,
I hope your week is going well. American Podcass is finally here! We are set up in the new basement studio and looking to expand and upgrade the stream experience for everyone. I am living a late-night podcasters life right now and am on a very weird schedule. So I tried a Twitch stream of Kirby’s Dream course last night but I had video lag issues and it got locked up. I am going to try and get Jason to look at it tonight. The gumball shirts are ordered and so are Means TV shirts. Street Fight Media LLC is handling the distribution of all those shirts, and I am stoked to finally get to see them in person. You can see us live on February 28th in Columbus OH or in Pittsburgh PA on 3/18.

- Your Dog by Soccer Mommy - I am late to Soccer Mommy but seeing some anticipation for the new album coming later this month I decided to give it a listen. This song is a life changer for me. It’s so chill and vibrant but very confident about not getting used by somebody. The bassline resonates a thumpy powerline for a chorus that goes
'Cause I don't wanna be your fucking dog
That you drag around
A collar on my neck tied to a pole
Leave me in the freezing cold
It’s not an overly aggressive song, it’s just asserting the right to say “no” to someone's bullshit. I listen to this one on repeat a lot.

- Sanjuro - I watched this because I hit shuffle on my plex and just went with what came up. I hit a jackpot! I still waiver at the thought of watching any black and white movie, because they are not all winners, and sometimes they can be a slog. I prefer watching the bad ones with someone else so we can yell about how much it stinks. So I cut this one on before bed and Arica didn’t get to finish it, which she said was disappointing, but I told her it’s a sequel so we can still watch Yojimbo together.
Sanjuro is captivating from the very beginning. There is a group of guys having corruption issues with their lord chamberlain, and they tell a superintendent they have some fraud issues. After these 9 guys explain their situation, this surly ronin in dirty clothes stumbles out to them, insults a couple of people, tells them not to trust the superintendent, and then saves them from an ambush from the superintendent. It’s a great story about a gruff and seemingly dishonorable fellow who is the purest of spirit compared to the city officials. The whole thing plays out incredibly and the last scene is so memorable. It was a fantastic journey. I already requested the first one from the library.

- The Boy And the Beast - This is a wild ride, and one I will be taking over and over again. It’s an epic clash with some incredibly shocking moments. I was watching it while Arica was peeling wallpaper as she watched along, and at one point she dropped her tool. Kumatetsu is this ornery manbear that nobody likes, but he is also a candidate to be lord of the beast kingdom. He’s in competition with a Chuck Norris looking lion that has two strapping young boys. So kumatetsu takes on a human kid as an apprentice and it shocks the conservative beast kingdom. It’s really gotta be in the top ten of any best anime lists.

- Icee Jake - Terrorist Threats - If you didn’t hear, the Icee Jake show got canceled because of a miscommunication from the venue. I was disappointed because Jake seemed ready to go, he had a great Dj lined up, and I was confident it was going to be an incredible performance. Well it’s still in the works, but as of right now I got no date. We did get a really great article about in the Columbus Alive. So stream Terrorist Threats like crazy and lets get those streams up in the meantime.
- Daiya Cutting Board Shreds - I got asked about vegan cheese on the call-in show and I really couldn't firmly stand behind one but I do really like these Daiya shreds. In baked potatoes, on eggplant parmesan, and in tempeh wraps, they are perfectly acceptable to me. That's also because real cheese makes my stomach flip inside out. I won't say it tastes just like cheese but I do fuckin love it. They are at most grocery stores now and it's pretty affordable, I got mine on sale, but you can sometimes find a coupon as well.
If you like what you read here and you haven’t seen all of my High Five posts they can be found here.
Peace,
Brett
