Hey hey hey,

I hope things are going alright in your area. Let me know how you're holding up in the comments. Don't do molly right now because it has immunosuppressive properties! The Pittsburgh and Florida shows have been postponed, if you need a refund please message us, otherwise, we will honor your admission at a later date (if you don't need the money right now please hold off, because we still have a lot of that money tied up in plane tickets and lodging). We are already working on doing some sort of livestream for the 2nd Hellfire Congregation Of Radical Egalitarianism tour if necessary (it will be necessary).  Right now you can find us on all the streaming platforms and we will be upping the content output too. Twitch is where we are focusing our energy, we want partner status. So watch us play Pandemic with Street Wife Radio or watch us investigate our current favorite metal bands.  This week on Patreon we are going to finish up watching Some Kind Of Monster. So, what are some enjoyable things in my life right now?

  • Lamb Of God - Walk With Me In Hell - I found a bridge between thrash and the hot topic metalcore I love. Lamb Of God has some incredibly stupid libertarian lyrics but they also have songs like "Redneck" that are all about fighting bubbas. Walk With Me In Hell is so soothing to me right now. I was happy to hear them after Pantera failed to stick with me (sounds too hate-crimey). For those of you who are going to try and suggest metal bands to me, I don't want sludge or doom or anything that isn't played as fast as possible, with lots of riffs and that little squealy noise they do. I love Testament right now.

  • Pandemic Board Game App - This game was a hit when it arrived over a decade ago. It’s cooperative, which was still a novel idea, but it delivered a really fun experience. You and up to 3 of your friends are viral specialists trying to wipe out the spread of 4 color-coded diseases. Each player gets a special role card, like Medic or Researcher, that gives them special abilities. It is incredibly hard and it took 6 tries before we beat it. Even if you don’t want to invest in the board game there is an app that is a lot of fun. You can load it up on a tablet and pass it around the couch. We played it with our wives on Twitch recently, and we have a lot more bonus streams coming, so download Twitch and follow us there.

  • Rodrigo Y Gabriela - I’ve been racking my brain with ways to get more Metallica played during family time. I decided to look up acoustic covers of Metallica and then got reminded that  RYG are huge metalheads. They released a cover of Battery in 2019.

If you aren’t familiar, Rodrigo Y Gabriela were a couple of buskers in Ireland, when somebody heard their song and made them famous. They’ve been a favorite of my wife and me for a decade now, and even if you don’t like Metallica their brand of hard rock flamenco is impressive to anyone who hears it. Check out Tamacun, it will make your jaw drop. Recommended for quietly rocking hard, speed freaks, brunchers, and global gallery shoppers.

  • Cashew Queso - I gave this basic recipe a shot and loved it. I didn’t even soak the cashews beforehand. I just blended it all up. I think I ate the whole batch in less than a day because I kept returning to the fridge and mindlessly scooping it up. I’ve read that tapioca starch is needed to get it stretchy and melty but I honestly don’t care about the full simulation, I just want good flavor, and technically this may just be a nut dip but it’s a damn good replacement for queso.

1/2 Cup of Water or milk alternative (flax for me)
    1 cup cashews
    1 can green chiles
Nutritional yeast + Taco Seasoning to taste

  • V8 Energy Juice - I love these things. I have an enormous sweet tooth so juices were always a weakness of mine but healthier living has moved me away from them. I also gave up coffee after having those stomach issues and decided I wasn't ever going back to it. I found this v8 green tea juice with caffeine. Honestly I just shoot the whole thing like 5-hour energy and go on with my day. I buy it by the case.

If you like what you read here and you haven’t seen all of my High Five posts they can be found here.

Peace,

Brett

For metal bands do you need to be able to understand what they're saying without a lyrics sheet?

Robin

Sepultura - Chaos A.D. is literally the intersection of early rising nu metal thought and thrash, also the lyrics and riff are just incredible. They even had the fucking Korn boys as guests on the very next album, though I don't like it that much, maybe you will. Also, Ross Robinson had a thrash band before producing the early Korn records and other bands like Limp Bizkit. The album is Detente - Recognize No Authority. Metal is literally the one thing I know anything about in this world, so if you want more recs lemme know.

Zach

Working from home in the heartland. Haven't listened in a while but I used to really like Ministry. So What is a good cut. Plus they have funny album names like The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste and Dark Side of the Spoon. Those v8 energy drinks are bomb. Thanks for the veggie recipe.

Robin

At The Gates - Slaughter of the Soul is a big touchstone for Lamb of God.

Robin

You don't need to, what matters is if you enjoy it. Some metal bands have great lyrics and some don't. I always was really into lyrics, to me they can make or break an album but many people don't care and that's cool too.

ShawnOfSulfur

I agree, but some people don't like any bands with screaming or growling. I'm not sure where Brett falls in regards to non traditional vocals.

streetfightradio

I am not big into lyrics. I am all about the rhythm section. I like cookie monster and black metal vocals. The guy from Thou annoyed me at first but it's grown.

streetfightradio

I listened to the early thrash Sepultura and really loved it. I understood why there were so many rabid fans of theirs. Bryan recommended Chaos AD but we have different requirements of our music so I haven't yet. Makes sense now that you mention the nu metal stuff. I will give it a listen.

streetfightradio

I used to listen to them when I worked in the Abercrombie warehouse. Filthpig was my album of choice. I would crank it up in my headphones and then watch all the boxes slowly move throughout the building.

ShawnOfSulfur

I got you then. Thou is pretty sludgy, but these are much faster more riff based without the pinch harmonics (Band- Album): Skeletonwitch- Serpents Unleashed Carcass- Surgical Steel Children of Bodom- Hate crew deathroll Midnight- Satanic Royalty Revocation- Deathless High on Fire- Des Vermis Mysteriis (Matt Pike is the riff king) And then if you just want to rage or hear the end of the world Nails- Abandon All Life Anaal Nathrakh- Vanitas

Robin

The Detente album is more just a trivia thing, I think you would genuinely like Chaos AD. I love early Sepultura, Inner Self is a very Street Fight song. I try to make recs based on the other person's preferences and not just a list of stuff I like, as much as that's my inclination lol

cinchal

I love Lamb of God but I never noticed libertarian lyrics :eyeball emoji:

Honeydew Wilkins

For something thrashy that has groovy parts to bounce to I like Hatesphere. The Sickness Within and The Great Bludgeoning are a good start.

streetfightradio

Omerta "Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both For a wounded man will shall say to his assailant "If I live, I will kill you. If I die, you are forgiven" Such is the rule of honor"

streetfightradio

I am right there with you when it comes to recommendations. I have heard a lot of different stuff. I am not trying to convince someone to like my thing but I want to turn hem onto their new thing.

cinchal

snitches get stitches Code of Silence is libertarian? I've only started recognizing what a lot of the lyrics are from watching Rocksmith Twitch streams :) i am enjoying this one lately: Stream the latest threat from the limelight economists Fabricated peril from contagion to communists Fear delivered to your door by racketeers and strategists Another advertisement war sold by the media terrorists
