Way back in the early days of podcasting there wasn't much available, but in 2008 when I started listening there was this show called the art of charm, which was started as some PUA filth that turned into scientific studies about self-improvement. Long story short, the guy who started that show, Jordan Harbinger, got ousted by the other hosts of the show and had to make his own. The current co-host of the art of charm podcast, AJ Harbinger, is a stage name so people think it's the same family, which is very perplexing, and relevant information to few people but fascinating to me. Anyways Jordan has his own show now that I listen to because it provides a lot of insight into mental disruptions, bad habits, life ruts, and managing your life from professionals. He isn't into motivational speak at all, he likes actionable steps. I appreciate the audio guidebook.

I was listening to this recent episode called Putting Muscle On The China Hustle, which is very informative on the fraud currently driving a segment of the stock market. American investors are being sent overseas to watch a paper factory that was totally inoperable for months, fire up for one day as a show so that they can go back home and trick other Americans into investing their retirement in these scam companies (Jordan is not a comrade, but the show isn't xenophobic). Dan David is an "activist investor" who got fucked over in 2008 and now tries to inform people of what is actually going on in the market. His stories were shocking. That being said, they aren't lefty, but I did really love this episode, that's why I am sharing it with y'all. It's an awe-inspiring level of corrpution.

Anyways, he advertises a coaching program on his show called 6-minute networking, and it's free. I decided to sign-up because it would be relevant to the Get Motivated series. The first assignment is to take 15 minutes out of the beginning of your day, open up your text app and scroll to the bottom 3 messages, then text those people regardless of how awkward it might be. I did it today and it was phenomenal. It really pushed me to interact with people who I've let drift away but I like talking to. My day was lifted by the conversations that were sparked by the exercise. I really enjoyed the effort and wanted to pass it along to those of you who need to reconnect with people after this last year. I don't know if I can live every day like this, but I am looking forward to sparking up a conversation with some buds tomorrow morning. I have a lot of love and support IRL and digitally but reaching out to people like this and sparking a new conversation was a really joyful experience. Just say fuck it and get tangled up in conversation with folks again.

I did it. My buddys zoomer son, now a teen; this martial arts sensai ex cop (acab friendly) I met at a coffee shop two years ago; and a guy who fixed my bicycle out of his basement. Thanks Brett.

still sounds like some fun texting if you have the stomach for it. I've got my personal trainer coming up and I am dreading it because I know they're just gonna try to get my money again.

I reached out to some people I met at a party 5 years ago and had a great convo

Jack Nancy

my bottom three are all beer reps from when I did the ordering for a bar a few years back. I do not want to text them lol

Got one out of three. Had a very interesting conversation about the future of VR because my old friend now teaches about it at a university and is very involved in the tech himself. Neat.

Jester

My bottom three were all group texts of people I still talk to daily just under their old phone numbers. Who are you wild people who have numbers of relative strangers in your phone
