some exploratory sketches I've done!

So the poll I did showed that the Langwen story is ahead by just a few votes (30 to 26). That is really too close to truly decide for me, and those of you who commented brought up some very good points that I need to think about. I was thinking about the langwen story today, hence these sketches.

The biggest problem is style... the lineless painting style that I've done for TRATW so far is just too much work for me to keep up with, especially if I'm going to do a longer story. But it is the style that has drawn so many people to both langwen and tratw, so I'm a little torn...

The other problem is that I really enjoy drawing a handsome man rocking dresses, so AFIA would just be so fun to do. But it is a longer story compared to langwen, because it involves a lot of political/court drama, and therefore more characters.

Bangs head against the table, what to do...

Maybe show a comparison between the styles? I have no idea what lineless painting means since I'm not an artist, and while TRATW was pretty enough to be a coffee table book, not all stories need to be like that! You might find that people don't mind so much about the style, once they have an idea of what it is. Knowing nothing about art, could you make the merman story in the easier style, or would it bother you to change it up? Or easier style with fancy spreads every once in a while, like you did toward the end of TRATW? I don't know, I'm just talking, but more than anything, I don't want you to be stressed and overworked, you have a day job, don't you?

Hmmm. Well, would it help if you spaced out your postings if you did Langwen? Like not churning out pages as quickly as TRATW? You could wait until you had a full page before giving that to your top tier and then waiting a bit longer to release to the next tier. (Assuming you go back to two tiers.) Or if you go the AFIA route, you could take longer breaks between arcs and focus on other stuff for a bit. That may drag it out a bit longer but it’s probably a better option than powering through quickly. Alternatively you could just take longer breaks between chapters. (Also Mai’s idea of doing a slightly simpler style for Langwen and then going back to the lineless painting for an important spread/scene is a pretty good idea.)
