Chinese themed studies from the past week, at full res (I usually shrink them down 80 percent before posting on twitter)

Anyway, I'm eternally on the quest for a style I like. I'm circling back to the traditional calligraphic/watercolour style I had for a while before because I love the poetic and dreamy flow of it... I'm really exploring this to see how far I can take it, and how adaptable it can get to fill my artistic expression. There's a lot of fiddling and brush play involved to maintain that certain level of "randomness" that is specific to traditional art. Ahh, it's hard. I've been drawing for decades, and yet I still am barely close to my goal of finding a unique style.

Ahhh this is the kind of style I’ve been wanting to take my art towards!! My grandfather is known for creating amazing calligraphy and art so I’ve always wanted to try and mimic the style myself. Do you have any recommendations for brushes to use? The ones I find don’t seem to fit what I’m looking for. >~< But thank you for the lovely art!!

I was overjoyed and then I got to the stairs and maybe I broke down. Just a little bit. It's still all so beautiful, I love Ranwan.
