I mean Yahaba hasn’t had much of a prominent role until now but he’s definitely been present since we first met Seijoh. I also think that from a team perspective it’s cool that they have people to keep other players in check. Even if you’re not a starter or on the court, that desire and passion still exists for the other characters, and the team dynamic is super important especially in volleyball. The speech was definitely roundabout in the beginning ig to show his “shallow” nature a bit but other than that I couldn’t tell you why.

For Mad Dog, I don’t think he plays volleyball because he’s angry or violent, I think he plays in spite of that. I’m not gonna pretend I have a good read on his character, but he’s just a high school boy with horrible communication playing the ultimate team sport. He’s interested in the game but not being part of a team, which can’t really go together. He clearly has anger issues and that pushes others away from him (like in the middle school flashback tho I don’t blame his teammates), making that lack of communication worse. I think he just never had a support system for his problems and they just festered and got worse. It’s only when people confront him (like Kiyoshi the guy with the bad hairline and Yahaba) and get past that exterior he has the potential to grow. Now that people are facing him and his bs head on, he has to do the same and then they grow together, which is the essence of growing as a team. Also my bad if this makes no sense, I’ve been at uni all day and I’m extremely tired so being eloquent and coherent might not be in the cards.

For the third long ass comment, I think it’s important to mention now that seasons 2 and 3 have recap movies for the show. The vast majority of the content is the same and just cut for the movie, but both have an extra scene that wasn’t included in the actual seasons. They are both pretty short and should definitely be watched after the last episode of each respective season. The clips are on YouTube so you wouldn’t have to go looking through the movie or anything but idek if I can send links here and even if I could put one that wouldn’t be trustworthy. At least I wouldn’t be clicking links from a stranger online you know, so maybe if someone you know has watched the show they can send you the clips but I think the scenes there are very important for certain characters and think it’s completely worth your time if you have any for them.
