Hachishark

Just like every episode at the end of this season, I love this episode. For the Tanaka scene, there’s definitely someone who can explain this better but I’ll do my best from memory. I believe in Tanaka’s internal monologue when he’s talking about Kageyama’s “trust” in Tanaka, in the original writing of the manga the word doubles as both trust and threat. It’s less of Kageyama just believing he can do it, and more so “you’re able to do it so you better do it” or something along those lines. It just goes back to how Kageyama is pushing his hitters to their limits instead of settling on his sets, and then you have the visual of Tanaka taking a leap of faith off the cliff and landing on the other side when he succeeds. I probably butchered that but it’s still just really enjoyable writing.

I didn’t talk about it when it happened but the twins doing the quick in reverse is crazy. They missed it this episode but got it in the last one as a fluke. Either way, Osamu being the on court second setter in case Atsumu gets the dig (which he’s quite good at as we can see) and being as effective as he’s being is crazy. Being able to switch gears like that and pull something off that most great setters have said they couldn’t do (even as a fluke) shows how good osamu is even as a setter, and just once again reinforces how skilled the twins are in general.

Also the comment Atsumu makes at the end is another thing I love. When I was talking about atsumus character before, I said he puts in the most effort to make sure his hitters have a good ball to hit, so if they can’t then they’re not matching up to his efforts. Hinata takes every set he can happily and tries his absolute best with it every time. Even with Kageyama messing up and tapping the ball down, Hinata recognizes that he did his best to get the ball to Hinata and so he puts his best effort and kicks the ball over. Atsumu is seeing someone who plays in the exact way Atsumu kind of idealizes and so he’s moved by that sentiment. I love how these characters are written so much.

Oh and Kita’s speech is just wonderful to hear every time, I don’t even need to say anything he explained himself perfectly. Can’t find a single thing to fault that guy on, he really is the goat.
