I really like the backstory for the different characters in each season because it shows how much effort the author puts into developing the side characters, which makes it easier to get attached to them. For me it makes the characters more memorable compared to other shows where side characters are either easily forgotten or just become irrelevant and lowkey i think u might be cooking about him being autistic lmao now that i think abt it other than being good at putting information together he sucks at doing everything else, If u rmb the first season rampo doesnt even know how to take the train thats why he ask atsushi to accompany him.

Glad you caught on to it, not sure if the mangaka ever explicitly says it but what I believe they were trying to allude to was that Ranpo is autistic. That's why I fully understood you not liking him in the moment as much as the others, considering he was portrayed as such a deus ex machina for whenever something goes bad for the plot and this part wasn't explored yet. His only flaw shown was that he was delusional about having an ability and fully believed/believes that his glasses activate it. That part was real, he can't fathom the idea that the pres would lie to him and so he just never acknowledges it (even though we know he knows it deep down)
