-------------------------- Historical Accuracy of Cinderella Gray While the series is already known for its historical accuracy, Cinderella Gray takes it to another level. The human characters are based on real people or combinations of multiple real people, and even some conversations between characters are based on real conversations, anecdotes, interviews, etc. Things like race positioning and strategy have even more attention to detail as well. -------------------------- Major characters in Kasamatsu based on real horses Belno Light is partially based on the horse Twin Bee, but is more closely based on another real life figure that I won’t get into yet. Fujimasa March is based on March Tosho. -------------------------- Tokai Derby 12:30 The Tokai Derby is a NAR race under a prefectural racing association. Most of the races in the series are under the JRA instead. -------------------------- Oguri’s legs and mother The issue with her knees is indeed based on real life. When Oguri was born, his body had to be held up to drink milk. Oguri’s mom is more closely based on his caretakers than his actual mom. Oguri’s dam, White Narubi, was very cold towards Oguri. Apparently mares sometimes just give up on their children if they are too weak, and Oguri’s bad knees made him a failure in that sense. -------------------------- Oguri’s untied shoe This was a stand in for a foot infection that Oguri had early in his career. -------------------------- Dirt Races 23:41 Yes, it is a dirt race. Dirt races are much more common in the NAR. -------------------------- Flexibility 24:30 Flexibility can be both good and bad. Teio’s speed and injuries were both attributed to his flexibility. In Oguri’s case, it was the reason why he couldn’t stand up, and also the reason why he could run in such a unique way. -------------------------- Alternative ED versions ED1 (episodes 1-13) has ~7 variations that change as the story progresses. -------------------------- Oguri’s Diet Apparently, Oguri was so obsessed with eating that he would eat the straw bedding he was supposed to sleep on. While he was put on a restricted diet, his staff said he could easily eat more than 10 buckets of food if allowed to. -------------------------- Oguri’s Pedigree Oguri does not have notable parents, with his grandfather Native Dancer being the only one really known for being a good sire. While his other grandfather, Silver Shark, seems to have a good record, he does not seem to be known for strong children. When looking him up, barely anything shows up. As such, he really did just come out of nowhere. His children weren’t strong either, so he was some sort of genetic anomaly.
