what I think happened with rui spitting up rem, was because the gluttonies house tons of memories and personalities inside themselves, so as rui was about to eat og subaru, rem's memories and emotions were interfering and conflicting with her desire to eat him. thats when she said: "what is this sensation? Dearness? When something feels dear?" so in order for her to eat subaru, she had to discard rems memories and feelings from within herself: "we threw away those pesky memories! All that's left is to eat you all up!" and her decision to discard rem still ended up backfiring with rem being able to give subaru that talk. hopefully that makes sense, even inside the gluttonies rem finding ways help subaru, truly the goat! she needs to come back!! peak reaction, peak episode, I love this show

This was a great episode definitely, but it also feels like when we got to the memory area sum had to have got lost in translation between the novel and the anime. It felt like we were hitting the main beats we were supposed to but cutting some parts that would really help in rounding out the scene lol
