yea, they really cut a lot of stuff with Rui, you are completely valid... Im usually pretty positive about re zero since I love this series so much, but they really fumbled her character this season, I loved her chapters in the novel it was so much more and it makes me upset how they adapted it, the anime didnt do her justice at all imo. (small chance they could possibly be saving the cut content for later?? but that might be cope) so yea, if you want to learn id really recommend checking out a cut content vid or something if you have the time. overall episode was really good for the most part. SUBARU IS BACKKK!!!!!! W reaction, can't wait for the next!

imma break down what happened with the Rui stuff cause you would have to make a leap in logic in order to fill in the blanks. So what happened when Subaru first met Rui in Od Lagna was she split herself into two identical selves (I'll just say 1 and 2 for simplicity), 2 ate Subaru's memories, giving all the siblings access to Subaru's memories (it's like sharing one stomach between 3 different people if we think about how memories are food to the gluttonys), then 2 latched onto Newbaru like a parasite in order to fuck with him by having 1 hop on the sticks and start doing bullshit (ex: killing Meilie) (also this parasitic attachment of gluttony was foreshadowed back in ep 9 when Newbaru opened 4 of the witch factor doors instead of the 3 in the miasma cave). The whole infighting between 1 and 2 comes from 1 not truly understanding what it means to die, they know what it "should" feel like, but since the memories of death are lowky ass (sorta like watching a 4k youtube video that just goes to 180p just as it was getting good) they wanted to use Subaru's body as a way to experience different ways of life in order to attain the perfect life. And since 2 has actually experienced death in full via hitch hiking off of return by death, she no longer fucks with the idea of wanting to use Subaru as a way to attain a perfect life. Thus leading us to 1's "if you ain't gonna play, pass the sticks over" moment as she probably ate 2 in order to see what the fuck she been missing out on. This long as shit but it should be a comprehensive recounting of Rui's actions till now.

Yeahh 95% of episode with Subaru was FIRE but the Rui stuff def felt rough 😂 I heard that they cut an entire named Chapter from the LN that explained what Rui was doing and went more in-depth with her character at the end of the episode, which if is true I would rather them just cut her out this episode completely and give her most of next episode for her stuff. But overall banger episode outside of the last couple minutes with Rui ✌️
