The team up project of the century (or rather... it's taken them a century! Zing! Got'em! Sick burn!)
Well… technically they in late May, but we all know what I was doing at the time…
I do find it funny though how I preordered these back in January 2023. A year and a half of waiting waaaaaasn’t great. But ya know, these two figs hold up to some high standards (mostly). So lets review ‘em!
Out of all the She-Hulk’s we’ve looked at before, I’m happy that PCB/BF went the long leg route for their fig! Unlike others before it, these legs look and feel to have some decent quality behind them. Even if there was a bit of warping like Jin’s...
The green or this fig is nice too! Although in my studio it appears that the green on the torso and legs are ever so slightly darker than the plastic of the head/hands, and arm ink. Again that could just be these old eyes playing tricks on me, but maybe I’m not crazy?
This fig does lack some side-torso printing, but other than that, there’s some nice 360° applications to those limbs! Buuuuuuut! This fig also sufferers form the #IncompleteLegs dilemma that’s been plaguing my figs the last several months.
I find it so interesting that the white plastic of the hips were fully printed over. It certainly leads to quite a bit of ink splodging on the underside. In fact, my particular fig has a lot of that messy inking in some less hidden places.
Outside of the possibility that this is just a problem with my specific copy of the fig, it’s still a serviceable print job (for a good majority) by Brothers Figure! Their track record gives me no indication that this is their new normal (I hope).
As for the other custom stuff, I’m quite happy with how the hair turned out! It’s nice and shiny and really has that “Lego-feel” to it! And it’s dark green! They got the hair color right! Woo! 😆
But as far as the shaping goes, I do wish the bangs were a little bigger… looking at the fig in profile shows you just how flat it is. It would’ve been nice at the very least to have had those bangs flow out a little further forward, but instead they just look a bit too close to the head.
Here’s a little thing I threw together to show yall what I mean…
All in all, it’s a solid fig for $90. Minor nitpicks aside!
However the standout fig here is Jen! Nobody else in the custom community even teased designing a Jennifer Walter’s, and frankly I’m a little surprised! This fig is great!
It’s exactly what it needs to be and there’s no funky design choices or radically “custom” looking elements that pull me out of the immersion. Truly it doesn't feel custom (which I’d say is some pretty high praise)
This hair in particular I’m a big fan of, and could absolutely see it as an official Lego element!
It’s got some similarities to this newer Lego Friends hairpiece that came out a few years back (I guess around the same time this fig went for preorder if you think about it), and when you swap it out, it’s got a very similar vibe, only this official one gives off a “crazier” energy that absolutely warranted the custom hair to be made in the first place.
But this official hair, if Lego would mold it in dark brown, it could look good for mid-transformation shots! :)
All the expressions are great too! PCB didn’t need to go this hard and yet here we are with expressions of happy, neutral, mid-transformation, and glasses! (the four emotions!)
If I could change one thing, I would have liked a more accentuated expression in place of the neutral one. Like Jen in disgust or irritation or rolling her eyes or sarcastic winking or something like that. The actress that plays her in the show is a great facial performer, so it would’ve been nice to have gotten more out of these options rather than two variations of a smile.
This fig also pairs quite well with elements from Jin’s “Lawyer” She-Hulk!
The 360° printwork for the limbs are very nice too! Those sleeves look great and the shoes around the ankles are even better! (well except for some minor smudging on that right toe area). Other than that. Positive stuff!
While the review of these two figs may seem short, that’s probably a good thing! No major complaints, with mostly positive opinions about them both!
It was $70 for She-Hulk’s other half, and I couldn’t be happier!
Well… a shorter preorder time would've been nice 🤔
