Leave it to MrJBricks to do some heavy lifting with custom DC figs! Kingdom Come is one of those books that changes you and to finally have more figs coming out of the wood works based around Alex Ross’s art is just so exciting!

This flash fig is the kind of thing you could only dream of building with existing parts! Believe me, I've tried!

MrJ took a solid jab at adapting Alex Ross’s art into Lego (not an easy feat mind you!) and I'm sad to say I'm not all that impressed.

For some context, this was a figure originally limited to 65 (despite what the collectors card might say), that was then plagued by multiple production errors limiting the fig you see here down to just 55 copies. Cut to all resellers distributing them, my reseller only received five of these trans-red figs TOTAL!

MrJ did their best to counteract the drama by later printing the missing 20 on solid red plastic (which looked not-so-great). So I’m considering myself very lucky to have even gotten this fig in this form!

MrJ figs are designed so well, but the poor production numbers can be frustrating at times. People want their figs and they’re damn hard to get a hold of! (I missed out on MrJ’s Johnny Storm a while back and I’m still mad about it) I remember back when LifeBrick would also do this and it drove me nuts! Not to mention the price gouging! $127 for just this one fig with a custom headpiece and some lightning bolts! …oof

Anyway, I’ve lost the plot rather early this time! Let’s get to the real meat and potatoes of this review!

This fig is… well, it’s fine.

Unfortunately, the biggest flaw is how the print is too minimal and dark. There seems to only be two layers of ink on this fig and both of them are so incredibly hard to see! MrJ could have at least used a brighter red for the muscles and maybe something more pinkish for the lighting bolts?

While props are due for a fig printed a full 360° around, in the end it doesn't matter much if you can’t see it! In fact one of the big “selling features” was the UV reactive ink and again I don’t think I should have to always look at this fig under a blacklight to enjoy it…

As for the custom parts, the lightning bolts are fun! But they’re a bit small I’m afraid. They certainly help give this fig more oomf, but there wasn’t enough to go around for them to save this fig in my eyes.

Hell they should have been yellow or even white! Red was not the color to go with here unfortunately...

As for the helmet, the only redeemable aspect of this entire fig, and it’s not even that shiny!

There's something going on here with the application of that silver that looks like it’s already faded before I’ve even touched it! It’s very dull and lacking a bright shine I was hoping for. But the gold is perfectly fine though! …strange 🤔

The shaping is pretty spot on though, I’ll give MrJ that! But man, this fig has really missed the mark for me…

Bad price, bad print, poor quality production… you’d think it wasn’t even made by MrJBrick, but I’m just as shocked as you are folks!

🤷🏻‍♂️
