So as some of you may know, Jin released the perfect Hulk custom fig. But Jin was also a big dweeb about it! But if you were unaware, let me set the stage....

*ahem*

Do you ever get really excited for a proper MCU Hulk? Excited enough to the wake up at 5am to snag a custom fig you are told is a preorder, only for them to change the date and push it back a day? So you wake up the next morning at 5am again to try your luck, only for it to sell out within 70 seconds on that second day?

Well that would make ya mad! A real bummer right? Well why did this happen? How could this happen? At least a month before this “preorder” went live Jin said there were 100 of them made (not a bunch, but still plenty). So how could they have all sold out in under a minute?! That’s impossible!

Well it turns out Jin wasn’t as transparent about this Hulk as they could have been.

After a few weeks of digging, chatting with community members, and looking for beans to be spilled, I was still pretty dazed and confused about how a character like this could have come and gone in an instant. My ear is constantly on the ground when it comes to this hobby. I very rarely miss figs I want (funds permitted)

So chatting with folks that actually did receive this fig, most informed me that this big fella primarily was sold through private WeChats groups, a majority of which being folks from Chinese/Mandarin speaking countries that I’d be completely lost within if I were a member.

Jin did this nearly EIGHT MONTHS before they announced it publicly to the community!

So for me and the rest of us outside of the Eastern parts of the world with hyper-connections to Jin (like idk being their best friend or something), we were all SOL! Eighty-Five of them were sold privately, and Jin’s “OFFICIAL RESELLERS” only received five each!

Yeah you read that right! FIVE! That’s IT!!!!

Needless to say, I was pissed. It’s a shame too because of these other 2012 Avengers figs that fell into place for me this last month! It woulda been perfect!

Why Jin did this, infuriates me. From a public perspective, Jin played it off like this Hulk fig would be like any other pre-order they list. Minimal message and comment responses from them, but nothing outside of their normal. The day it was supposed to go live for “preorder” Jin made a post along the lines of “well we didn’t anticipate this much interest”. Not mentioning anything about the private groups or the hyper minimum quantities their resellers were going to receive.

Only after the fig was sold-out did this info start bubbling. Jin (very briefly) apologized for misleading their supporters, but again never once mentioned the circumstances that surrounded it.

When I rolled up on that second day at 5am expecting a preorder, I had no idea I was competing with quite possibly dozens of other people for a ready-to-ship “last batch”! 😡

This was quite a story in my mind. So much so that it even reminded me of the last time Jin did something so bafflingly dumb with private group chats and resellers...

This whole thing bugged me so much so that I wanted to make a post about it! Because I know at least a few of you would have asked me about this fig if I didn’t review it. So here I am. For the first time ever, I’m reviewing the concept of a fig that was so poorly handled that it made me want to literally turn into the Hulk and smash Jin into the floor like a ragdoll.

But please, check out these photos taken and shared by cylego_cylego that I shall be drooling over for years to come. Go give them a follow too while you’re at it!

I mean come on! Those expressions are perfect! Little details like chest hair and the subtle toe print could have been easily overdone, but not this time! And that mid-sized torso concept is perfect! (the hair is a bit meh) But those two-point articulated legs with the knee joints are especially SO cool! The tattered effect really does wonders to sell the illusion!

*sigh*

Going forward, Jin (in ever the capitalist mindset) also released an Age of Ultron version of the MCU Hulk for preorder, as well as a JinLite Hulk pack (both of which I did manage to grab)

But this was the one I wanted! We've been waiting for a long long looong time for somebody to try and take on the challenge of a mid-fig sized Hulk and have it look THIS good?! Get outta town!

I hope this post is helpful somewhat. It sure took me a while to piece everything together 😵‍💫

Apparently it was a once in a life opportunity. But I'm still hopeful. Maybe one day I’ll own one…

...one day.
