What a terrible figure!

Well… okay no, that’s not entirely fair.

What a terrible collection of custom custom parts over a pretty well printed figure!

I mean come on, what even is this teeny tiny little hat?! Haha! It looks even worse without the mask! 🤣

It’s a well produced piece, but the 3D design needed another pair of eyes I think… thankfully the mask isn’t that bad! It can’t quite pair with official Lego fedora’s but you can still rest one on top and it looks alright 🤷🏻‍♂️

But that hat/mask were designed in tandem to sit within each other, so it unfortunately means there’s not much I can do about it at the end of the day.

The cape is a little better, but it’s got the famous Jaka pillowcase look to it that I’m a bit disappointed by. We could've gotten a little more flow in this thing, surely?

Could we have at the very least gotten something more over the shoulder like he’s commonly depicted? Or even something like the art that inspired this fig? N-no...? ...well drat.

Oh and get a load of that weak brick-built gun! It’s not at all what’s shown on the collectors card or the preorder images! I mean I’m no expert, but THE iconic Gas Gun should've been more impressive than this!

Even more so, MrJ did that thing again where the preorder render didn’t match the final product. There’s at least a custom gun on the collectors card, so what the heck happened here?

Now if I swap most of the parts out, you’ve got something salvageable here… but that’s not what we paid $60 for…

But when we put all that weird stuff back together and the back of this fig is just terrible! Wow! I’m actually surprised at how plain this really looks

Perhaps I'm being a little too harsh? This is one of those situations where we may not get another classic comic inspired custom Sandman for a long time. In fact this is the only one I can think of in the last ten years that’s actually Pad Printed at that! So let me hold my complaints.

We’ve got a classic character that’s rare to see in minifig form. That enough is keeping my opinions afloat right now. MrJ yet again is doing some heavy lifting for us comic fans, while Excelsior Customs are hot on their heels! So what two designers would be better to collaborate on a popular JSA character!

Makes sense to me! I’m very excited about that!

So while this fig is ultimately very simple, the fanboy in me is actually kinda happy to own him :)

I'm going to do my best to overlook that tiny little baby hat. Especially with a little bit of photoshop magic (thankfully)…

But everything else? It’s… fine, when you consider the alternative of nothing at all! So hey! At least we got something! The first custom Wesley Dodds Sandman!

But yeah man, $60 wasn’t great though for what the final fig came out to be. Maybe if the design was stronger, sure! But as it is now, this fig is just… serviceable.
