MrJ Brick / Heart Brand's Classic Hulk! (Patreon)

It’s not very often I get to talk about the Hulk! The Hulk is great and nobody really makes custom figs of the big guy! I was really looking forward to talking about this one, but I’m… um… I have some mixed feelings.

I think what MrJ and Heart designed here was a nice balance of custom concepts to elevate this to something worth $80… but the production quality feels… incomplete. And maybe a little unrefined.

*sigh* … let’s just get this out of the way now… (deep breath)

THE GREENS DON'T MATCH!?!?!

I paid EIGHTY freakin dollars for a MidFig, and a third of it sticks out like a sore thumb

MrJ and Heart (a newer team I’m not very familiar with) also made a bunch for other color chase variants, including a Red Hulk! I could have snagged it, but chose to save a bit of money for the next fig down the line. Now that I’ve got this one in hand, I’m not too torn about skipping the others.

Other than a color swap, different hair, and some different facial expressions, they were all nearly identical in design concept

But golly miss molly am I once again miffed by a MrJ product and their coloring! That’s twice now from a brand I’ve previously had good faith in! Something is slipping or maybe I'm getting more uptight...?

I really do love this design concept though! The MidFig scale works great here and it matches well with their recent Juggernaut. Although Hulk here is a little smaller, which I think is for the better. Leaves Hulk looking a little more proportional to a minifig.

The sharper edges around it’s design also lends it to look more “lego-like” compared to ol’Jughead

And on the topic of scale, here he is with some other Hulks from Lego officially...

Unlike Juggernaut, there’s free rotation of the arms. No click-hinges. So there’s truly no posing restrictions.

Again, I tried to remove the arms, but felt a bit skiddish about doing so when I started hearing some loud protesting creaks. This was about as far removed as I felt comfortable pulling on them, and as you can see, there’s already some plastic-stripping taking place…

And giving the hands the ole “Lego Bar Test”, everything fits quite well!

Just like with most MidFig’s the upper torso mostly rests over a standard torso, and that’s about the end of it. This one was rather clean and glue-free compared to Juggernaut!

Now I’m beating around the bush with my negative thoughts… I’m trying to stay positive and pretend that the green miscoloring isn't bugging more than it is.... I mean yes, tThe overall bright green color choice MrJ/Heart went with for The Hulk was really nice! It would’ve been better if it all matched of course!

At the very least, it lends itself to official minifig part swapping, which is always nice!

Honestly, the general design work on the minifig itself is all pretty solid, I especially with the le-

…the legs…

Oh COME ON

This fig of all figs!? Really?! Why the hell aren’t the legs fully printed?! What the actual HECK?! It’s barely even printed up the backside!

Again I paid $80 dollars for this by the way! $80 for a fig with #IncompleteLegs yet again! $80 for fig with mismatched coloration, and missing ink in crucial places! I’m so irritated dude! 😡

Lego has made official dual molded legs in these colors! Why didn't MrJ source them to be printed over?! I might as well have paid $80 for the head and hair and given it to my official Hulk minifig! 

Ironically, I think the only truly redeemable bits of this entire thing are the hair and the “ripped” belt piece. Both of which are nicely molded and very reminiscent of some classic Sal Buscema art

But seriously! I mean come on! If you want to display this fig, the color mismatching is annoying. If you want to pose it for action shots and photography, the missing purple leg print causes even more frustration!

This MidFig made me want to turn into The Hulk myself and smash my freakin keyboard in!
