Here’s a fun throwback! A fig that originally released back in 2019, that I’ve been hunting to collect for a long time now! And what a lovely custom fig it is! Frankly I’m not quite sure how I missed this one back when it came out, but I’m happy to finally have it! :)
This fig isn’t anything revolutionary by today’s standards, but the custom hair and great facial designs really elevated it for the time it was released!
If memory serves, this was PCB’s entry point to their design of black on black texture work. Using the same ink color as the plastic underneath it was something pretty new at the time for custom minifigs. On this fig, it’s nice and subtle!
One thing I’ve never noticed until having this fig in person though, is how the belt print doesn't cross over onto the hips. It’s only printed on the torso for some reason… how interesting. I wonder why that was… 🤔
As for other aspect of the print, those facial design are probably the biggest draw for me when it comes to the design and print work. PCB really nailed it with that perfect Legofication! Not only that, but those faces are framed really well by the custom hair!
Just like how 95% of this fig design basically comes from the Lego Batman 3 Videogame, the hair is the best part of this fig. It’s super “Lego-Like” quite literally because it’s designed to emulate it!
I mean just take a look at this hair vs PCB’s recent Superman hair and tell me that this doesn't look a million times better than PCB’s newer 3D models!
The quality of the the piece is also really nice! I mean for one thing, the thickness is just perfect! The detailing isn’t to complex either! The element is well produced and feels pretty much like “real Lego” (aka, ABS Injection Molded Plastic… and not 3D-Printed like most custom figs made these days)
It’s also got a nice shine to it, and is soft to the touch :)
Other than that, this fig had no other accessories or anything extra. Sure, it could’ve maybe included like a trans-clear diamond or something generic for her to steal, but it didn’t need it.
It could have also included something more specific like a handgun for Bat’s to kick out of her hand, or that weird safe-cracker gadget she has in the movie... but again… we don’t really need it (I’ve got plenty of Lego diamonds lying around anyway!) 🤷🏻♂️
At the end of the day, there’s not much to this fig, but what is here is solid! It’s an older one, but I’m glad to finally have it in the collection after all these years, right next to PCB’s Batman of the same era!
Now if only I could get a hold of some other Nolan Bat-figs… something about my luck and figs from that movie are just a challenge to collect for some reason… 😞
But the hunt goes on! One day I’ll get a LifeBrick Nolan Batman… one day… 🤞🏻
