Abnormal's TNBA "Flight Suit" Batman (Patreon)

Abnormal really love their wing-based variant figs! 😆

This fig of course was well and truly a parts pack in my mind when I ordered it back in March. While the fig-parts print is primarily the same exact thing from the standard TNBA fig we looked at yesterday, The only major difference is that it's printed on Dark Grey! Makes way more sense than the light grey used on the main fig!

I mean just look at this and tell me this should have been the standard coloring!

Anyway! I'm getting side-tracked! The flight suit stuff is the selling point of this fig for most folks, so let's talk about it!

Just like with Abnormal’s Hawkmen, the wings connect to an over-the-shoulder armor element that’s well printed and painted! I'm also happy to report that the wings fit correctly and there's no scuffing or scraping like those Hawk-figs! But this fig was somehow even dustier than yesterday's Bat-fig!

Abnormal! Clean your figs! I mean look at all these tiny micro-fibers all other this thing!

That being said though, this armor element feels sturdier and better designed (structurally) compared to those Hawkman elements...

The flight yokes are done in two pieces, which is a smart idea given their on-screen design! The bar elements are nothing exciting. Just a small indentation on the bottom, a little button on the top (not printed mind you). But the wrist gauntlet pieces are much more impressive!

Outside of these parts, we get another one of those single-sided belts. Again it’s a bit frustrating that Abnormal chose to go with this belt facade rather than just printing the belt over the torso....

Same thing with the cowl. No change there either. Would have been cool if Abnormal included the earpiece attachment, but I get why they didn't for production costs.

Still, the biggest draw I think (for me anyway) is the fig parts beneath all this faff!

Again, Abnormal actually printed the same design of the standard fig over Dark Grey plastic here! It’s what should’ve been the choice for both of the bat-figs! I’m glad that at the very least it did happen! But to limit this particular "variant fig" to just 60 units is nuts!

Abnormal could have made the standard fig in Dark Grey, then sold all these extra parts as another expansion pack (but knowing how that went down... idk... see yesterday's post). So instead I spent another $100 just to get slightly darker fig that's closer to what I really wanted in the first place.

I mean just look at this side by side and tell me I'm wrong!

idk man. I wanted to like these both a lot better than what ended up, but that’s kind of how this hobby goes sometimes 🤷🏻‍♂️
