Here we go! It’s another BlackStar Batman! But uh, did this fig really need to be $75?

All it’s got is a custom cowl and little glove toppers, sure. But hell, the leg print is basically the exact same as previous BlackStar Bat-Figs...

Maybe that price comes from all the faff BlackStar included in their packaging? I mean who needs a card sleeve with a sealing sticker, wrapped around a hard case, packed with a steel collectors card AND stickers?!

I just wanted a cool Batman fig 🥺

I’m not sure what compelled me to pick this one up. Perhaps it was the limited quantity produced? idk… the FOMO hit pretty hard I guess given this fig had no preorder when it dropped a few months back. Regardless, it’s still made by BlackStar, so I knew it was gonna be premium quality at worst! And honestly? It’s a solid fig!

As far as print quality is concerned, it’s clean as ever! The two shades of dark yellow are very nice for the belt and distinctly different in color tone! I was a bit concerned that BS printed it in gold at first, but thankfully they actually got it right with these more screen-accurate flat colors!

The torso design is also quite nice! The line thickness is perfectly Lego-Like, and the overall simplicity of the musculature is really clean! It pairs quite well with the simple leg print. Leg print that has a nice 360° of ink, mind you! So again, from a quality standpoint, the print is 10/10!

The custom parts are where I believe LuckyJoy’s contributions were included…

You can see in some of their IG posts about this fig, the plan was to initially have some kind of torso armor covering as well (very weird stuff)! I’m super glad that this wasn't in the final design because it looks waaaaay to bulky!

As for what we did get! That cowl is just a nicely refined version of the CMF "official" minifig. A little thinner, a little sleeker. Much much tighter to the head (more on that later). It’s all good stuff to have, but by comparison, it’s a bit of a departure from the “Lego Look”

I frankly think the custom cowl looks better, but I’m sure there are those out there that may disagree 🤷🏻‍♂️

One thing I do not care for is how freaking snug this cowl was! I struggled for a long while to get this thing on all the way! Like seriously, I even took photos of it stuck on the head like this because I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to move it any further!

I mean just look at all that filament rubbing off on the inside around the eyes!

After a lot of fiddling, I got it on pretty close to it's intended design height… but I couldn’t get it any closer (or even get the thing off afterwards) 😮‍💨

Those little glove toppers are the only other custom elements (that I was not brave enough to remove in case I lost them)! But… that’s all there is to this fig! It’s a sleek looking Batman!

Frankly, $50-$60 would feel like a better price to me than the $75 it came to in the end. I mean it didn’t even include a custom hard cape or a single measly batarang!

Maybe if Blackstar cut out all the extra aesthetic stuff with their packaging to save us all some money I’d feel better…? At the end of the day it’s about the minifig, and $75 just felt too steep! And I’m sticking to that!
