A handful of different things (Patreon)

First off we've got a new/different wire technique used to suspend Superman (which you'll get to see tomorrow). I used my LED lamp, not as a light source, but as a mounted cross-beam to wrap wire around and keep the fig off the ground. My line of thinking was actually for ease of editing! Considering that the build was mostly studs (a textured surface), that it would be far more difficult to clean the wire out of the photo in post-production, than on a flat surface like the paper backdrop :)

We're also looking at how I achieved the backlit atmosphere from a good portion of this shoot. In the top right image, you can see me holding a dark piece of paper above the subject (just out of the DSLR's frame).
Using my external flash, the light curves around the ends of the paper, reflecting around to the back of the figures :)

The bottom image is an extreme case of this set-up, but with fine tuning, I managed to reach a decent  silhouette. In the post from yesterday,  you can see that this lighting technique gave me plenty of options to work with. Tweaking my instruments ever so slightly to change the image entirely :P
