JinCustoms - Avengers 2012 MCU Hulk (Patreon)

I still can’t freakin’ believe it! Are you kidding me?! I’m genuinely shocked that I actually managed to get this fig! 🤯
I was extremely fortunate (and well funded at the time) to have gotten this big fella second hand. All for the low low low abominable price of $700!
Yep. That’s not even an exaggeration. Seven… hundred… dollars.
This MidFig is now the most expensive item in my collection by a country mile! Out pricing even L1N6’s Giant Galactus!
Now I’ve already shared a bit of my strong opinions on this fig and the machinations that followed it upon its subsequent “non release” to the market.
I have a complicated love/hate relationship towards JinCustoms lately…. In some ways I feel a little conflicted to actually own this thing now. Kinda funny how the brain works. BUT! I was on a quest to one day own this Hulk! Now my quest is complete! 😤
But seriously! Why did Jin only make ninety-nine of these?! Of The Hulk! One of the founding team members of the 2012 movie!!
AGH! I’m still mad about it!
Anyway!
As the wind might tell you, this fig originally retailed for $100, but I have no way of checking that for a fact, so in the interest of fairness, I’m going to review this fella as though it was sold at $700.
I’m gonna tell you right now that most of you will absolutely say that it’s not worth that much! But in my hunt for this fig, some collectors were asking for upwards of $1.5k, so I’ll consider this a bargain! 😅
Given how weird this hobby can be, I was shocked to see one that low!
But now, let’s get down to brass tax here! The muscle, if you will!
This MidFig was Jin’s first or second design to feature this ball and socket concept for the arms, as well as the two-point articulation for the legs/shorts. It’s almost quaint how just about all other MidFig designers have adapted some sort of concept similar to this in the time this fig debuted.
But this right here is the genuine article!
The poseability alone is really fun to mess around with!
The range of motion for the knees isn't the best (just like my knees! Haha!) They only bend back about to around 180° mark. It’s not actually as much as I thought they bent, but it’s 180° more bendable than regular minifig legs, so I’ll take it! 😂
Stepping away from the very fun technical design and looking at its artistic merits, this fella is pretty damn perfect! The chest hair, the simple linework, the balance of square and rounded shaping, it’s all just so good!
The color matching was something I was a bit concerned about, and I’m happy to report that everything matches up great with the Official Lego Olive Green!
The hair I think may just be the weakest part of the fig maaaaybe, but even then I think I’ve grown to like it after hunting for it all this time. It too is well made! A bit too pokey looking, but still good!
But swapping the hair and heads around from the most recent Official Lego Hulk, it looks pretty good! However, the head won’t quite fit into the neck socket all the way. You can kinda hide the fact his head’s not on with the right angles, but it’s a shame that it’s not a perfect fit… 🤷🏻♂️
The one thing I haven’t seen much chatter about, is the gaps at the top of the shoulders. It’s not a deal breaker or anything, but they’re rather noticeable from higher angles. Almost as if the ball-joints are a little longer than they needed to be...
That body buck really is quite a revolutionary and simple design. Jin was really cooking when they came up with this concept!
Yeah man. Other than one slightly loose leg joint and how I don’t personally care for the green eyes on the secondary face, it’s basically a perfect figure. Top ten in my collection easily!
But was this fig worth $700?
Maaaaybe not for everybody.
But it was for meeeeeeee! 😈
