A Review Part Two! (Patreon)

When it comes to design and quality, it’s very very interesting to compare these three. While Christo’s Android Jay sold at around $100, the pair of Jaka figs were around $120. No yes there is a lot of say about Christo’s rising prices in the last few years, but just looking at these simple based on the figure and the print itself…. I’m less and less convinced Christo is gonna keep his position as top-dog in the Lego customization world.

I mean his figure (while it does match his other earlier Jay Garrick fig designs from as early as 2015, looks really rigid when you look at Jaka’s. Particularly in the boots (which I originally wanted to compliment Christo for finally adding the winglets too this fig which really should have been on the other two) instead they look very stiff and not to mention that the boots are only printed on two of four sides of the leg.

Now on a more positive note, all three of their respective head prints are wonderful! I’m particularly quite fond of Rival’s head with the minimal cheek bones and the lightning coming off from the eyes! It was a very cool design choice!

But yeah man it’s those boots on Jaka’s figs that really win me over! They simulate the idea that they’re dual molded (when they are in fact not) but just at a glance, they are printed well enough to trick the eye and I think it’s a shame when a newcomer can do that over a veteran like Christo.

And while we’re on the topic… let’s talk about Christo for a second…

I only just received this figure about a month ago but ordered it around June of 2017… the collector card reads January of 2018… but I only started seeing images of this fig in buyers hands as early as October of 2019!!! And here I am only just now receiving him in 2020?!

What the flying forklift is that all about Christo?! Three years man…. it’s getting less and less surprising that some of these newer customizer are running laps around him with their production speed.

Heck, JakaBrick has only been in the scene for about six months now and have already produced four figures in that time!

So on the merit of time and cost, Jaka may not be the highest of quality all around… they would still have been my preferred choice for cost and time alone if I was forced to pick….

Oh and I almost forgot!

Here’s a side by side with the official Jay fig torso, they look to be a worthy group as a trio. However I do have to note that Android Jay (Yellow) and the boots on both figures don’t feature the same reflective shine that the official fig has around the border of the emblem. It looks like there was an attempt on Rival’s boots (Dark Red) but the execution of it is not nearly as bright as it should be to match the quality of the other figure.

...Wow did I just compliment an official Lego fig? Huh… I thought I would never see the day :P
