This one was a tough one to shoot.

First of all, I didn’t have a paper backdrop big enough for the entire skyline, and additionally, the concept of a single focal point combined with it’s own lighting was one of those I had to admit to myself that without the help of Photoshop, this one wasn’t going to come together correctly in just one shot.

So there was anywhere from four to five photos taken of just that blue paper moved around (all of which having various focal range adjustments as I went along for the figures to be sharp enough to composite with one another)

Then following that it was the same idea with different lighting for the interior. The only way to light the interior was with my LED desk lamp in front of subject matter like the skyline… grr. But regardless, multiple photos were taken of just the lighting changes at different focal ranges. (are you lost yet?)

All of this mind you, was being done while making tiny little adjustments to figures so each and every one didn’t block or hinder another. I’m still a little frustrated that John Stewart’s placement was behind the paneling of that big 1x6 window, but there was nowhere else for him to go because of he was leaning too far forward he’d block Hal, and then moving Hal would put him in front of Dr Fate back there and man… what a pain!

If you want to see how this all came to be and not just read my ramblings about it, tomorrow’s video will really blow your mind :P
