What was or could have been... (Patreon)

Well… unfortunately we’ve come to the end of the road.

Here’s a shot I took on top of my Green Lantern Origins / Iron Man Crash build a few weeks ago, and here’s a test shot for the build I made for my Mando S1Ep1 shot that centers all around hands.

Kind of a bummer that I might not get to move forward any more with it as of right now. But who knows… I have patience. I’m the kind of guy that is still waiting on Christo figs for over three years. But we all know that’s not quite PBC’s M.O. (see edit note at the bottom)

Also on a tv show related note, season one was SO solid! A moving story, with a natural narrative reason for the development/expansion of cultures and regimes, and it's serious non-quipy tone was really welcome after putting up with the new trilogy... Mando was so well rounded as a production that I didn't mind the generic plot points of "get the baby to the thing" cliche...

But season two of Mando just really killed the hype for me. I didn't have that same wow moment of production because while ideas with sets and locations were neat, the amount of call-backs being favored over character development and story really took the fun out of it.

There was like ten "new" characters they brought in that were just like “Hey Mando, I’m a character from something else that wasn't in the main movies. I have a tool/armor piece you need and I won’t tell you anything else about myself except other than you gotta get this baby to a rock on some hill” (specifically I’m just mad about Ashoksa or however you spell it and those other three Mandos that were given no back story. I had never heard of them before and the show just gave us no narrative reason to care about them)

(ugh… I’m so sick of Star Wars being EVERYWHERE and lacking the cool nuance it once had. Mando season one was the one breath of fresh air that made me actually like Star Wars again and- ...you know what I should just stop)

ANYWAY :)

No more Star Wars talk. If you liked the weird over-powered rubbery-fliping plagiarized-nostalgia-sucking Luke cameo, good for you! I'm the kind of person who really liked seeing Superman show up at the end of The Justice League movie! (we're all terrible and we all make bad choices)

As for Mando and this project, I think I’m done with this for a while! If I get sent those Mando hands down the line, great! I might move forward with the project! If I don’t, well maybe I’ll sell the figs in like a year or something, who knows!

Until then, I’m gonna just keep stick to comic book crap, because that’s what I know best :P

(Edit 03-11-21 6:54 AM: This just in! PBC made a public announcement on their IG regarding production  of the hands. My Patreon posts are written days, sometimes weeks in advance. So even though the whole reason I'm posting these reviews are because I was done waiting for said hands, the timing couldn't have been weirder! Whoops! These things happen folks)
