I mean what can I say that hasn’t been said a hundred times by now. Christo’s quality with his final product is fantastically immaculate… but since 2018 (just like this fig I’ve got right here as of 2022) he has shown renderings of new figs by the dozens and has only sent out about three to four figs in that time… he’s bad with PR, communication, and all around becoming kind of a shady guy… not to mention  how he’s avoiding presale claims to his existing customers.

Let me elaborate…

I’ve been emailing Christo directly for nearly a decade now to get my figs straight from the source. But this Iron Man fig right here is the first one he’s sent out to resellers before even a single message was sent to me that the product was finished and shipped. He basically just leap-frogged me :/

In the end, I ordered this fig from minifigures.co.uk around late November (yes yes I know it takes me a long time to make Patreon posts) But the fact that I claimed a reservation for this fig is baffling to me. Emailing the guy and asking to be put on a sell-list feels intrinsically pointless now!

Now I know better these days, because I haven’t paid Christo a dime since probably his Reverse Golden Age Flash. Mostly on the principle that I wont blindly give the dude money in order to maaaaybe one day get something in return. I only paid him when a product was finished... or so I thought. So perhaps because I never "paid" for the fig directly, that’s why I was never contacted?

Regardless, I have no idea.

Now on to something that’s even more ironic. Since this figure was announced, two other customizers have designed, produced, and distributed this same classic Ditko-esc suit as far back as early 2019. The only one I own specifically is the FunnyBrick fig from around that same time.

Looking at them side by side… apart from FunnyBrick’s shotty molded helmet, it included two vambraces, and 360 printed legs. All for about $80 if memory serves. It’s wild at just how slow Christo is now that his own figs are feeling outdated.

So… with ALL that being said,  my review of this figure is stunted by Christo’s poor public relations, poor communication, bugé packaging/text, and all the drama surrounding anything he releases these days. I mean come on, the little card says “to protect your investment” like wtf does that even mean Christo?! Are you running a genuine pyramid scheme here?!

…ugh

Well in summary, it’s a fine accessory-free fig that doesn’t even have printing on the backs of the legs, end of story! I’m mad that the design translation is so sharp and well printed and yet also wrapped up in all this BS!

Needless to say I think from here on out, ordering only from resellers once the product is complete may be the best way to go if you want to even get a chance at snagging one of his figs, unfortunately

(PS; For those wondering, that last image is just some figbarfs ft parts from a variation of FunnyBrick, UG Minifigures, and Christo parts, because what the hell else was I gonna do with this plain ass fig!)
