JinCustoms/NaughtyBoy Japanese Spider-Man Review! (Patreon)
Content
I’m gonna be honest, not in a million years would I have ever expected to own a 1970s Japanese Spider-Man fig. This is my first JinCustoms fig (and NaughtyBoy fig for that matter) and it’s pretty solid! But… but what a WEIRD choice! :P
It’s been produced quite well! The 360° print across this entire figure is really solid stuff! Particularly around the arms and legs! But that’s kinda where things start to fall short... like the bottoms of the feet being red instead of white...
There's some funky things going on with it's color matching. The legs, and more so the hip piece of this fig are different shades of blue compared to the torso/leg print.
With the upper leg print being applied to solely red legs instead of dual molded legs, you get the awkward red gaps of print being exposed. It’s frustrating that in one aspect, you can put him in some cool poses to show off the inner leg print of the boots, but at the very same time, you’re looking right down the barrel of unprinted upper leg parts :/
Okay but let’s not forget the rope web! It looks just like it does in the show, and is actually a rather hard plastic piece. Just looking at it I was thinking it would be some kind of soft polymer or even rubber. But nope. Not even bendable!
It’s… it’s hard as a rock… and off white in color…
Hmm… there could have probably been a better way to describe that…
RIGHT. Now let’s talk tech!
I love The Spider-Bracelet (yes that’s what it’s called, look it up if you don’t believe me. This dude has a flying car called the GP-7 so you can just shut the hell up) It’s really nicely printed around the entire circumference of the band, and even opens up showing off more printing inside! Not to mention a keypad molded into the wrist! Wild stuff at such a tiny scale!
Now in the grand scheme of things, this is gonna feel like a pretty brief review because honestly that’s about it! This fig is middle of the road for me. Decent quality printing, pretty good parts, and a weirdly specific never-been-done-before character in minifig form.
It’s designed quite well (maybe even a bit too over designed though with the head print…?)
Still, what more could you ask for? It’s certainly a one of a kind fig, that’s for damn sure!
