Spock & Bones (Star Trek IV Brickheadz) (Patreon)

It's been quite some time since I’ve built Star Trek Brickheadz! So how about we check out these very new and topically relevant characters from the 1980s that everyone will recognize!

*note the sarcasm in my tone*

These funny space fella’s came to be in a few ways. One, I wanted to build some more well known Trek characters but not have them in the simple Blue/Red/Gold motif

And two! I’d already built Kirk and Kahn a while back, so The Voyage Home costumes were the obvious route to take to get them all to fit together! :P

I really enjoyed working on them both. Spock was a bit of a departure from the standard boxy body design. I wanted to introduce shaping to the lower half of the body that wasn’t just stacked bricks (like the recent official LOTR Arwen Brickhead), and it turned out lovely!

Bones on the other hand was a little harder to translate with all the weird textures and vague bits of beige fabric in his civilian costume. The "neck tie" was an odd one that puzzled me for a while, but in the end, it turned out that the simplest solution was the best!

I’m still not completely sure that medium nougat was the best color to go with for the under shirt, but regular tan would have made it look like he wasn’t wearing a shirt... if only there was a color between the two… what would you even call that...?

...Dark Sand White? ...Light Medium Sandy Tan…? ...bright... nougat... pearl... yellow...?

All in all, I like them a lot! (despite the color confusion on my part) :P

Who's to say what Star Trek Brickheadz I’ll build next, but hopefully it won’t take so long next time! ;)
