Bob of BobsCustoms (if you can believe that’s not his real name) has been designing custom figs for a long time now! All the way back to the Flickr days. But for the longest time, designs were all they were! Flat, two dimensional, fantastic designs!

But recently he's been collaborating with a variety of UV Printers to bring his designs to life! In this case, the sensational Stilt Man was given three dimensions by LeqoLeqo! They do some okay work, and have just been outside my radar for a little while now.

In a nutshell, they produce some decently high quality UV printed figs with some nice drum-laqured elements. Custom molding and part shaping is really their bread and butter; the printing aspect comes second.

So when the two of them joined up, I was more than interested in what was to come! 👀

Now hear this people! Only TEN of these bad boys were made and I am one of the lucky ten humans on this entire planet to own one! 😎

It only cost me a whopping $97 buckaroos but damnit all if it wasn’t worth it!

For a UV Digitally Printed fig it’s very clean! The minimal aspect of the design really lends to the lower print quality. You can really only see the textured aspect of the ink over the “white eyes” of the fig’s head.

Other than that, the true stand out here is the drum-laqured silver! It’s top tier stuff that LeqoLeqo really did an excellent job with in its application; not only the fig parts, but the custom ones as well!

Every indent, crevasse, nook, cranny, and tight space is well applied with silver ink! But at the same time it’s not overly coated in the stuff! All the limbs can pivot freely, and the details of the custom parts aren't lost! From all around the antenna, the little rivits on the arm bands, even the sharp inset border for the face plate are, it’s all sharp!

We’ve seen to much of a good thing before with major players like PCB's Iron Man 3 and Mandalorian Helmets loosing the details of the element because the lacquer was applied to thick. Thankful LeqoLeqo avoided it! :)

The stilts are also nice and simple! They have just the right amount of tapering at the “foot” of the element (the spot where the stud connects to the leg) that it isn’t too bizarre of a transition from rectangle to circle.

I think Bob and Leqo really created the best fig possible here. It’s simple and comic accurate! It’s bright and shiny and well made! The design translation from comic page to the lego style is spot on!

Seriously, it’s just perfect in so many ways!

It is a shame that Bob/Leqo didn’t produce any more of them. However such a limited run gives me this strange sense of nostalgia for the old Flickr days. Back when somebody just loved a character so much that their passion shines through in a little mini release of half a dozen custom figs for them and their friends!

It feels genuinely wholesome to own not only one of the first few BobsCustoms figs out there. There’s also a sense of pride that comes with it to share this fig with others in the community that’s grown so much since flickr!

Not only that, but I get to shout into the void “I GOT A STILT MAN!” and while no one genuinely cares, it makes me smile to know the story and the designers behind it :)

Stilt Man is literally the dumbest concept for a character and the fact that I now have him in Lego form is SO funny to me :P

Thank you Bob for bringing him to life :)

POST REVIEW EDIT:

Hey so at around the time I was shooting the action shots for Stilt Man, I had him posed up on a jumper plate that he slipped right off of!

Yes you read that right. He slipped his way off the desk and, not only did one of the antennas snap off, but there was some strange fluid that came out of one of the stilts that caused the foot clutch to give way!

After speaking with Bob, he informed me that this fluid it’s most likely a resin that hadn’t fully set and (my guess being possibly from temperature changes or altitudes or something) it decided to ooze out of the air hole that goes all the way down the piece to prevent cracking.

But uh... still... idk where to leave off with this now, but I did feel inclined to mention it. Not catching the fig as it fell was on me I suppose, so I take full blame on that part, but the resin was weird and unexpected.

I still had a good time with Stilt Man… but it was pretty short lived! Thankfully Bob’s planning to send me a replacement helmet! :)

All in all, still a good fig from a design point! Can’t wait to see what BobsCustoms comes up with next! ;)
