Man pre-ordering has really become such a pain… *queue Andrew complains about the custom minifigure market again!*

About a year a a half ago, I missed out on Jaka’s Thunder Parent’s two-pack because they sold out within like an hour of their announcement. However this one was the opposite; it was teased with an eight hour lead up to go live at 7am (yes I got up early on a Sunday for this fig) then it didn’t actually go live for another several hours later on multiple reseller sites! And then never ended up selling out right away like Jaka’s other Thor figs had before!

Not to mention this was before the movie came out and h’oooohboy what a stinker of a movie it was!

But despite all my pent up irritation from about eight months ago, I still think Jaka did a perfect job with this fig! However I gotta level with you guys, I probably wouldn’t be here talking about this fig with you all of it wasn’t for running this here patreon page! Thor 4 was one of my least favorite Marvel movies in a very long time and this fig has only been sitting on my desk marinating in that disappointment since earlier this year when it arrived

But here we are, we’re finally getting around to him! ...I guess!

The print and overall quality of this fig is top tier stuff! Even in design translation, Jaka really did a good job with this guy! Nothing too complex (minus the tank top with the killer Yggdrasill Tree). It's go sharp linework, clean applications, bright shiny highlights! What more could you ask for in a custom fig!

Outside of that, I personally don’t think the arms needed as much definition/print as they got, but they’re still decent and sorta helped justify the $100 price tag.

Oh and of course the face is my favorite of Jaka’s Thor’s to date! We’ve talked about past Jaka Thor’s before and those faces were always just a little off.... though this time it seems they’ve really nailed it! It’s very Lego-like and the beard color matches the custom hair color really well!

Speaking of the hair, it’s pretty good too! But again (and I feel like I say this every time) the hair feels a bit too tall on the top. Like he’s got a bit of a cone head going on. To be fair though, it’s easily the best Thor hair they’ve made as well! Miles ahead of the old spaghetti hair stands or bumpiness of the past!

Stormbreaker is nice too! It’s a nice rich dark brown with bright shiny silver! Although I had a mini panic attack when it arrived with the hammer head detached. However it turns out it’s supposed to be like that…? (must have been more versatile for shipping?)

The molding and 3D design work isn’t lost in the paint job either which is always nice to see! The axe head itself has some nice detailing while the handle is textured, but still functional for lil Lego people hands! (it’s funny just how many customizers skip over that bit)

All in all, at the end of the day, when the dust settles, as we lay it to rest, at the end of the road, when we look a back on the journey we've just gone through together... *deep breath* ...it's a good fig!

While I reeaaalllly don’t like this version of the character, the print work is perfect as always from Jaka! They continue to impress me with their quality continually improving!
