LifeBrick's DCEU Henry Cavill Superman (Patreon)

You guys have no idea how much I love this Superman fig! It’s so nice to finally have a high quality Superman fig, let alone one from LifeBrick (which in the last few months I seem to be shilling for - but don’t worry, I’ve got other brands up my sleeve!)

While Cavill’s Superman steadily declined in quality the last ten years, I still loved his portrayal despite Snyder’s over-dramatization of him. Deep down I still have a soft spot for the 2013 Man of Steel movie, which I think is why I ended up scooping one up in the end.

LifeBrick actually produced two of these fellas! One being the black/silver variant used in the “The Snyder Cut” (whatever that means)

However for the sake of longevity for this page continuing I only picked up the Red/Blue version because gotta spread the (lack of) wealth I have for the custom minifig community!

One of the coolest aspects of this fig is the shiny metallic blue ink LB used for the base coat! We all know LifeBrick are the titans of texturing, but this reflective sparkle underneath the dark blue cross-texturing takes this fig up to a new level of replication!

I know I keep saying this about LifeBrick figs, but damn they’re really changing the game with their printing techniques! This is just incredible stuff! The whole fig shimmers and reacts to light in such a neat way, just like the actual suit from the movies! Incredible!

My only nitpick (and this is seriously a nitpick because this fig is damn near perfect) is that the bright blue accents are too bright and too blue. In my memory of this original MoS suit, it had much more silver. Even in BvS it was rather grey. Not until the Josstice League did we see some bright color in the suit.

Now hear me out. If LB was gonna have the light blue stay so light, they should have brightened the red too! All to get it to match the look of the 2017 JL suit. But clearly based on the hair included with the fig (plus the square belt buckle) this is supposed to be the BvS suit!

The light blue clashes and it hurts my OCD brain to excuse it. It’s looks more like the action figures and other toys that were released for BvS than the actual on screen costume that-

Wait… what am I doing?

This dumb. They’re microscopic lines on a two-inch tall plastic figure. I’m moving on! I’m not even gonna segue!

The rest of the print looks great! Again the texture work is out of this world and the sharpness is immaculate! Even LB’s facial designs are great! I love the heat-ray eyes and the butt chin! Though the eyebrows seem a little thick.

As for the custom parts, this super fig came with two hair pieces and two capes, and let me tell you, those two molded capes are a real treat!

If you’ve been around as long as I have, you know it’s a very rare thing to get an action-posed hard plastic cape! The dark red is nice and rich in color, perfectly matching the colors on the fig! I think my action flowing cape may have been chipped though. It seems as though one of its tips had been chipped off…

Now, I’m trying not to bead a dead horse here but again, it’s shame these capes are in dark red. It limits the use for other Superman figbarfs. Still, the shaping on both of them are fantastic! Even the neutral posed cape looks weighted naturally and doesn't look like a pillow case :)

Lastly, we gotta talk about the bonus hair! I uh… I kinda hate them both.

LB did a decent job with one of the weakest aspects of their figs yet again. However I’m generally in the camp where if an official Lego hair already exists and does the job well, then there’s no need for custom hair. Especially when the official 2011 and 2016 Superman hair pieces both look fantastic!

But what LifeBrick included was a natural “resting” hair, and a second “battle damaged” scraggly hair and they’re nice in theory. But they’re waaaaay to flat and thin to the head. I mean get a load of the height difference! Crazy!

$122 bucks as the bird (or the plane) flys! It’s about the average LifeBrick price, but it’s worth every cent! It blows my figbarfed fig out of the water and instantly became the best custom Superman fig I own (so far)!

Good stuff LifeBrick! Good stuff! 👍🏻
