JakaBrick and Abnormal Minifigure have come together to bring us one of the titular main players in The Suicide Squad! You’d think we’d have seen a bunch of brands making this character by now, but nope… I wonder why 🤔

Bloodsport here is a nice fig and came with a ton of stuff! Two heads, two headpieces, two swiss army gun lookin things, and a UV Printed collectors tile (standard issue for an Abnormal fig) All for around $100, so I’d say we’re off to a good start here!

Right out of the clamshell, he’s got a nice consistent bronze all over, and an inconsistent blue among the custom parts.

I’m gonna start with the custom parts this time because I’m a little lost in the vague movie redesign of Bloodsport’s look. I ain't saying I don’t like the look of his costume in the movie, but it’s got a lot of busy work going on throughout that Jaka/Abnormal managed to capture… pretty well!

But first, the parts!

Jaka’s social media team mentioned they would include a second “reissued” headpiece with this fig. Basically a refinement of the print applications (as I interpreted it)

However I’m not sure whether this is the first or second edition of this piece included. The blue of this helmet is so far off from the official Lego plastic that I’m not so sure this is the updated one.

The wrist gauntlets suffer a little less from the color differential. The bronze print certainly helps hide it, but they’re still off in color as well. Even the guns are a little off, so who’s to say!

Idk man, the custom parts are really good (shaping wise), but not perfect (color wise). Jaka’s put out better than this in the past, so I wonder if this was part of Abnormal’s contributions? We all know how gradually unimpressed I’ve gotten with them.

But the fig though! The print on this fella is intense! Almost more intense than it probably needs to be, but I like it! …mostly!

For me, the amount of black linework feels a little over the top, especially on the lower half of the fig. The additional thin lines running parallel with the thick lines feels like too much. The hyper tiny tan linework on the boots feels over done.

Again the details again are top notch, from the dirty belt buckles to the lighter blue belt pouches! Even the fingerless gloved hands are quite nice! Both hands are printed evenly and properly spaced!

But that Abnormal influence is clearly there in this fig and I can’t unsee it.

In fact, the most noticeable and conflicting of the Abnormal vs Jaka designs come from looking at the facial prints!

The two different head designs are very jarring. You can really see just how abnormal Abnormal’s designs can look next to Jaka’s much more “Lego-Adapted” style. These two design teams have evolved a lot in different directions the last few years. It’s a rare treat to see the contrast in their two styles clash so much that the final decision was to just include two different heads and be done with it! 😆

It’s funny but Abnormal’s influences are probably why I don’t like this fig as much as I could’ve. Abnormal has been taking their figs a bit too far in one direction and the custom parts can be pretty hit-or-miss. I think their side of the contribution here also matches with my gripes about this fig overall.

I’d probably not have picked up this guy if it wasn’t for it being a Jaka fig (sorta) and the sole Bloodsport custom out there right now. …I know PCB mentioned they were gonna make one like a hundred years ago, but here we are I guess!

All in all, it’s a good fig, but not amazing. The quality is still decent and custom parts don’t absolutely suck, so I’ll take it! :)

Just having an Idris Elba minifig is pretty cool.
