Updates from the Wizard - Jan 2026 (Patreon)

This is a new approach I wanted to test out where I can simply record and update everyone on what we're working on, things we're tackling, and answer any questions you the community may have.Let me know if you like this format on keeping up to date with us, and feel free to leave questions in the comments below for me to bring up and answer next time!

Hey there everybody. It is Zoran the Wizard. This is basically an update on what we are doing and what is going on. I just want to keep you in the loop on what is happening.

I asked on Discord if people would like it if I basically just recorded something and gave you a “hey this is what we are working on right now” kind of update. Like this is the process we are going through and stuff like that. And if you leave comments on the Patreon post below, that is also a good way for me to be like “oh I can take questions from there.” If there are any concerns or anything else I can answer them in follow up posts and stuff like that.

So I figured that would be a really nice way for us to communicate more. You can just put it on like a podcast instead of having to read a huge post.

What is going on right now

Right now I am actually staring at our fun little organization board of all the art orders that Skelly is going through. I think we have one two three four which turned into five six seven art orders. And then for the Black Crusade it is an additional five six seven eight.

Then there are a couple of background art pieces which we are going to have to get someone else to help us out with because that is going to be a little difficult.

Skelly is going to be very busy. We ordered a whole bunch of art for her. It also gave her a bit of a pay raise thanks to all of you guys. Because once you are in a project like this for so long, for the amount of money we had at the very start to now, we cannot really justify keeping someone at the smittens of pennies we had before. These people have been with us for years and have been really dedicated to the project, so I think they should be rewarded.

Hopefully we can keep that revenue going because if any major drops happen I really do not want to have that conversation with them. That is always the danger with online shows like this. We had that before when we stopped doing Warhams and we nearly went bankrupt for it. So hopefully we can be nice and stable again.

Skelly is doing a whole bunch of artwork. She is getting everything ready for the new arc of Rotgrind. In addition to that she is also getting a lot of Black Crusade stuff ready and we have a couple of test sessions going.

Scheduling and production

As I am browsing my organizational calendar, because we have an internal calendar for our team that shows recording times, when people are away, and our content calendar for the entire year, I can see that Hulky has been gone since January 1st to the 15th, so he will be returning after his holiday break.

Thurston is back at work over at Paizo. With everything at the start of the year including for us, it is a time of having a bunch of meetings and figuring out what is going to be happening for the next year. We are getting budgeting ready and all that stuff. So the same thing is probably happening at Paizo right now, and since he is now in an executive position he is going to be in a lot of meetings recently.

We already did the character creation recording and that has been posted, so we are very happy about that.

I also need to make a new Patreon thing to get all that organized. I am kind of in the middle of all the work stuff here. There is a lot to manage. I put that on my little to do list.

Editing and content

We have been trying to preload a bunch of shorts so Eze can handle some other editing stuff. We are getting the Kingmaker episodes ready. I think we have one more episode for this month which is the one that got corrupted and messed up, so we are trying to string that together and get it figured out.

We are also trying to get the animation done. Mikura has been working with the audio we sent her and she is currently working on the animation ending for Kingmaker. That is being produced this month.

We also had two test sessions planned. We were going to do them today which is January 12th, but they got rescheduled to January 19th and January 26th. We are hoping we can get everything ready so that on Monday February 2nd we can record the first episode.

If things get delayed we will just try to find time to get it going. We want at least two episodes recorded that month on top of everyone’s schedule because not everybody does this full time. Mostly I do. Eze relies on this as well. Skelly is part time for us.

We are doing the best that we can to keep things moving.

PDFs and Patreon content

I have a whole bunch of stuff for PDF updates and maps that need to be uploaded. I do apologize for not getting that up in December. I got to the holiday break and my PDF program kept crashing every time I edited a line. I think I got that fixed.

We will also be releasing some of the battle maps from Rockrind.

Since Thurston’s responsibilities have shifted away from PDFs and into just running the games because of his job, I am taking over the PDF side. That includes writing lore, fixing stat blocks, and making them presentable. I want it so when you get a monster you can actually use it and not just have GM scratch notes. As much as some tiers promise that, I still want to make it nice when I can. If I do not have time I will release the scratch and update it later.

I want people to feel valued here and not taken advantage of.

New campaigns and planning

We are also in talks about getting other campaigns going. Last year a lot of people wanted to do tabletop stuff but they had other things going on. Now they are more free but it is hard to get consistent communication. Tabletop is a commitment and some people have trouble with that.

A lot of my time is just smashing my head against a Google calendar asking people if they are free on certain days or months.

I am trying to get a Starfinder thing going. Bricky wants to do more Warhammer stuff depending on his schedule. I want to do a charity event in October but I need to get the team on board.

We are also doing budgeting and figuring out where money goes each month.

We had to fire a CPA because they failed to tell us about a tax extension (that got denied, sorry didn't speak that detail out loud) and we got penalized. That got sorted with the IRS but it is part of running this as an S Corp with contracts and taxes.

Wrapping up

I am also making the battle maps this month because Jamie is not available. Skelly is doing art. Eze is editing and posting shorts. The players are sending me character info. Thurston is working on Black Crusade and the next Rotgrind arc. We are also planning how Warhams Second Edition will work since Alfa has given us the green light.

We are really busy right now. It just takes time to get all this prep done so the rest of the year runs smoothly. I am sorry we do not have a ton of episodes in January. Once the test sessions are done I will edit them and get them to you so you have something fun and behind the scenes.
