Thanks, wehad Code RED over here the past 2 days... interesting... we never had that for as long as I remember. It was Arctic. XD

Wow, i'm envious! As a kid i remember snowy winters every year and living as i did then in a valley in the middle of the countryside it was wonderful to look out of the bedroom window and see a blanket of white as far as the eye could see, now its messy, slushy and never lasts more than a couple of days at most :(

That still goes for these regions too. It only lasted until today. Now evreything is mostly gone because of the increased themperature. But when I was a littlekid we used to have longer periods of snowy landscapes too. I remember we once - only ONCE were able to build a snowman of 2 meters tall. He stood for some weeks even before the spring started and melted him bit by bit. That all said, Code RED is a weather alarm, we only have since the 90´s so. It did unhince the infrastructure of our sociaty in those 2 days though, people and traffic are so used to calm winters they are taken by surprise when snow keeps falling. They even shut businesses and schools. Questions were asked that this sort of thing happens in Scandinavian countries and Canada too - why do we suddenly have to close down? But the experts said, its because the Dutch dont deal with this sort of thing so often, that it is a special time.

It was a LOT of snow in a VERY short period of time that baffled everyone and closed/blocked up roads entirely.

We have those exact same problems and then the papers drag the government over the coals for not being ready but honestly who wants to pay for stuff that might be used once every 10 years if even then?
