“Of course, dear.” Prof. Djuric purred, her grin growing smugger by the second. 

“I finished a prototype, even have a pitch meeting scheduled. I wonder if you could help me review it?”

Arching an eyebrow, Iva nodded. “I suppose.” Rolling her eyes, Aubrey held out the device. With both hands she carefully angled the emitter towards the tall teacher.  Iva leaned forward, examining the box clutched in Aubrey’s hands. “Fabricated well, if a little rudimentary. Simple two button interface… What does it do?”

Pressing the minus button, Aubrey felt the box vibrate in her hands. The microcyclotron in the case whirred silently before fading away. Iva, for her part, seemed oblivious. The lithe woman looked at her, the glimmer of self-importance shielding her from perceiving what was occurring. 

Iva shifted in place, looking at Aubrey expectedly. After several seconds of silence, she stood silently. Subtle changes were happening, the hem of her dress shifting on her thighs, her feet shifting in the ever-expanding canvas of her shoes. Smirking, Aubrey lowered her prototype. “Sweetie, I can’t help you with your pitch if you can’t explain your device.” She rubbed her temple, grinning wickedly. “However, that’s why this organization exists. I’m sure I can help.” She reached out, holding her hand palm up towards the young coed. “What does that thing—”

Her voice faltered, fading like a song ending on an album. Iva’s legs shot out to either side, the colour drained from her face. Her green eyes shining like emeralds as she slapped at her hips. Fingers grasped the fabric of her dress, the thick band of something hidden underneath barely visible. “—do...?” 

“It’s no big deal.” Aubrey sang, inching forward. Iva was frozen in place, Aubrey beamed as Iva’s eye-line met her own. “I think it would go over your head.” Iva swallowed hard as Aubrey moved forward, looking up slightly as her body collapsed before her. “I’m sure a smart woman like you can figure it out.”
