GOOD MORNINGG

ALYSSA

I do hope you don't skip ep 6 even tho it's just a special ep😔. Its the best

Jenn BL

I was disappointed in the on stage crying-it looked like for attention jmo

Lily

Maybe only the ace of each team is untouchable (JL, Han and Woongki).

Zerose777

Groove Team Prison was just absolutely insane. Imagine if that level of vocal prowess was the standard in Kpop. Also finally someone appreciating Heejun, he's so underrated. Man is an allrounder with insane visuals as well. Kenta has an insane voice, Gijoong strong and powerful, Jeongwoo good vocal and visual, Jaeho very underrated as well, Gangdong did well, & of course there is nothing to say about Han except he's Baekhyun's son and he's my 1 pick lol. #GROOVEFORLIFE

Lily

The next mission will be the league competition, kinda similar to previous round in the sense that the combined score will determine which league places 1st and receives the benefits. They’d want to maximize the chance of winning by forming 2 strong units for these 2 songs - mentors can decide if they want a player to perform in both songs, only 1 song or none. Those don’t get to perform can still receive online voting.

cathy

yesssss team groove’s Prison is iconic!! 😍 i gotta say though, being a Groove fan while the show was airing was tough 🫠 the competition between teams was starting to get to the fans, and with groove ranking first twice in a row, they became a punching bag for the fans of other teams. it was clear to me that groove’s Prison was objectively and technically better, but people were swearing up and down that rhythm’s was sooo much better and that groove only won because of ‘abs’ 🤦🏻‍♀️ i still get flashbacks to this day. rhythm bench did great and i’m proud that they managed to tackle such a difficult song, but team groove set the baseline too high, even with the minor hiccups towards the end. i do think that aside from having no koreans in the team, going second—after the audience already saw groove’s interpretation of the song—also contributed to how big the gap in votes was. the enunciation of the lyrics were also iffy in some places, which is something that would be easily recognizable to korean fans but not internationals. nevertheless, fantastic performances and amazing songs 👏👏👏 the voting system may be infuriating (with how online voting open and end before the performances are aired), but the show really spoils us with sooo many original songs 😍 about the next round: — they are going through the letters of PRISM, so this round is PRI[S]M: Seven — each team will form two groups comprised of seven members, and have two original songs! — there will be two rounds, and the teams will still be competing against each other (Groove Team #1 vs. Rhythm Team #1 vs. Beat Team #1, and then Groove Team #2 vs. Rhythm Team #2 vs. Beat Team #2) — it is up to the directors who to place in each group! in theory, they can use all their players so each trainee gets to perform once, but the downside to this is that the less popular trainees won’t bring in much votes compared to the popular ones. having popular trainees perform twice will ultimately get the team more votes because their individual votes get counted twice. so, this round has the potential to be heavily strategic, depending on the directors 🤔 (also, after finding out that changsub told his kids behind the scenes to tell him if they ever want to be traded to another team, i have a theory that zenzen actually wanted to be switched to rhythm based on his reaction haha. just a fun lil theory though)

Lily

I absolutely love ‘Prison’ by team Groove and vocal is definitely a big factor here, though I think team Rhythm also did really well and their performance has their own charm. Quite a lot of people actually got mad because Rhythm bench team didn’t get it, which honestly depends on personal preferences as both teams are pretty neck to neck all things considered. Besides the nationality of the players, I think the vocal matters quite a lot when it comes to on-site voting. Not everyone got the best seat to watch the performance on-site, so of course their assessment would be different from online audience. From watching the fixed cam version of the performance on youtube, I also realized that the LED screen at the back if not used wisely can be quite distracting (e.g. in the ‘Prison’ by team R, the red LED effect made it a bit hard to see the performance clearly from a fixed cam perspective, so the only other aspect they can rely on is the vocal)

cathy

#GROOVEFORLIFE indeed. Hani is also my 1 pick 🥹

Lily

Not to spoil anything for Jeff but I just wanna say I really admire Changsub for his strategy in the next mission. He seems to genuinely care about their growth as a mentor

Lily

Hani is also my 1 pick from day 1 🥹#GrooviesBabies

Zerose777

It was absolutely mind boggling that people looked at Groove and Rhythm and decided that Groove won because of abs 😑 People were really deaf and it just made me so mad being a Groove stan.

cathy

i get you! he’s really become such a father figure to the groovies and i love that he still keeps in touch with them after the show. [ JEFF, POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW, PLS DON’T READ 🚩 ] i love how changsub hasn’t taken off the groove bracelet and that he was even wearing it in his concert, fanmeets, and recent performance video 😭 that being said, it does still hurt me that you-know-who didn’t get to perform at all next round 🥺

Jee Emm

Ep 6 is a fun one, please don't skip. If you're a Han fan, you're in for a surprise!!!

Juicy

I honestly feel like Team Beat starters should have won their round. I didn’t get the sexy concept that Team Groove bench went with, it just didn’t fit the song at all. I get that their team has a more mature aura, but it still didn’t match up well. Honestly, I was really surprised when they won too.💀

cathy

lmao i was also so confused at that discourse. kenta was just THAT majestic, i guess 😭 seriously though, rhythm starter being the most popular and rhythm bench being the underdogs probably played a part. the rhythm fandom was also the largest and most outspoken, so it was easy for people to jump in the bandwagon and solidify their claims. ngl, it was to the point that even i started to doubt if i was seeing and hearing wrongly. if jeff had confirmed that rhythm was technically better, i was prepared to accept that maybe i’m just too biased. but nah, groove’s prison performance remain legendary 👏👏

howltthew

I think it was an unspoken rule to not get the aces, but also as someone who has been a btob/changsub stan for almost 10 years now, i also get how changsub is doing his trades, he just love seeing younger generation of artists improve, that's his ultimate goal, to be able to share is knowledge to them, so him basing his trades off of potential in the aspect he can effectively mentor them is such a changsub thing to do. also, it was shared by the trainees that changsub actually asks his groove team that if anyone wants to be traded to other teams just in case they want to focus or venture out on a different aspect/skillset, they can freely tell him.

CallistoWarriorQueen

I'm not going to lie I personally far preferred the Rhythm Prison performance. I preferred the emotion in their voices, their tone for a song about desperation and their choreography but I knew Groove would win and they were still amazing. Their win didn't bother me as much as the point disparity did! This whole ep was such a rollercoaster of emotions. The online voting was so bad because we were voting so far behind what was aired. These online votes were from before the show even aired so we had nothing much to go on except looks and the ones from previous shows/groups who we knew were talented. Jiang Fan got hugely popular with online voters but by the time we saw his audition he was eliminated and so we wasted time and money voting for him when he was no longer even eligible for votes! Such a loss to the competition. Also I prefer Kpop now TBH but I don't really like ballads or slow songs haha. The kind of explosive energy songs I love are more prevalent in 4th and 5th gen and there's still many amazing vocalists- there's just a lot more groups now and perhaps the songs in fashion don't show them off as well. Give me a Hip-hop song over a ballad any day though haha.

howltthew

ngl i still get so anxious watching reactors react to this show because of the hate team groove got during the show but i'm healing from it slowly. I just try to enjoy the performances of these hardworking kids put up for us. they all deserve to be given enough credits for performing new/orig songs every round. UL actually gave us GOOD songs and performances. i love it.

Sabi

Random thought, but is it just me or does EL CAPITXN kind of look like Yuta lol. Their face and especially the mannerisms are so alike 🤔

cathy

i agree! i hate fandom wars in general, but being caught in the middle of one BEFORE debut? stressful 💀 i am all for complimenting and hyping up your faves, but i just wish people were kinder and didn’t feel the need to insult the other team in the process. at the end of the day, these are hardworking trainees who just wants a shot at making their dreams come true. the fanwar aspect definitely soured my viewing experience, but i couldn’t stay away because the performances were just soooo good and the talent pool in this show is insane

jea

so excited for ep 6!! the best episode fr

Sabi

I honestly preferred the team Grooves interpretation of MAMMA MIA. I'm glad they got the song, since to me team Beats interpretation was too youngish sounding, if that makes sense (personally not that big of a fan of youthful concepts) But they both did great! 💙

Sabi

ooh as a Han bias you got me so exited 🤩!!

sushiracey

Yes the not picking top player/s in my observation is not a program rule but i'm guessing an internal agreement between the coaches themselves behind the scenes.

rum

Although there is no exact source, there was a story that has been circulating among Korean K-pop fans while the airing of Boys Planet: Woonggi and Sungmin (currently a member of One Pact and who left TO1 with Woonggi) withdrew from the team as if the agency suddenly kicked them out. It's a not good thing, but often these core words come from the boundary between sasaeng to deep fans, and often feel like a fait accompli with such strong credibility. People thought it was for the agency to change the image of the team. The two left the team, but they participated in Boys Planet as members of the agency, wk1, and it's a bit believable to hear that it was decided internally in Kyungho's interview. Despite that decision, it's ironic and unfortunate that TO1 ended up breaking up...

Natthaya Pornsinchai

Finally, the “Seven” mission. Can’t wait for the turning point of the show 🔥❤️ all of the madness of 101 would result in this mission’s result. 😂

Natthaya Pornsinchai

Spoiler ! . . . The debut members will come from the winning team + the member who were the 1st of the 2nd&3rd place team = 7+1+1, not by individual ranking 1-9.

Roselle Galura

Jeff, the next episode will be more thrilling, you will love it, especially the part about the trade, haha but my only warning is that PARK JUWON will be in......... just watch it, haha

Sky

Honestly most people do prefer Beat's version of mamma mia so pretty much everyone was surprised when they didn't get to keep the song...The prison match though i would say was a close one and kinda boils down one's preference, for me if you give vocals more priority you would choose Groove but if you prefer choreography and performance then it is Rhythm.... As to the whole Woongki crying on stage after the Beat loss, you would be surprised to know how common that is actually in survival shows. Even back in boys planet, many people from the live audience would confirm that contestants do cry on stage while talking about their hardships and whatnot, its just that most of it is edited out/not shown from the episodes....They kept this one instance in the episode probably to amplify the already existing drama. But ya this is nothing out of the blue in a svs context.

Dani

cant wait for ep 6! JL + Han 🔥🔥🔥

Sandy Zheng!!!!!!!!!!!

Please don’t skip ep 6. You will see many amazing vocalist out of no where for the talent show.

cathy

i’m not sure how jeff feels about spoilers, but this spoils the results of the next round and the trades 😅

Roselle Galura

Hahahaha yeah i know he doesn't like to be spoil but i hope he doesn't read this . hahahaha

cathy

if you don’t wanna delete it, i think at least putting a spoiler warning would help 😅

Roselle Galura

Hahahaha yeahhh but im excited his reaction to the next episode. hahaha

Roselle Galura

I edited my comment about the spoil so he would be surprised hahaha😂😂

cathy

nice. i’m excited too! 🤩

jeffavenue

oh interesting about the crying on stage… it’s definitely a culture difference

jeffavenue

i wonder how woongki is unable to tell kyung ho the reason if that’s the case. might have it been an NDA situation?

jeffavenue

that’s fair. i think team beat was also not the best execution for the song. something in between the 2 would’ve been nice

jeffavenue

oh no that’s unfortunate (re: voting). so sad it was like that and SO UNFAIR for the network to organize it this way.

jeffavenue

omg i hope he gets in and gets a good edit!!!

eve_ss

PRISON is soooo 2nd/3rd gen song coded and I love it so much 🥹 I can hear VIXX, BTOB, B2ST in this. (I'm almost 100% sure they sampled this from one of VIXX song) ❤️❤️❤️

jea

when’s the next eppp

BZ

The online community agreed with you and were extremely upset when this aired. The on site voters voted based on looks and not performance and the show lost a lot of viewers because of this. It was crazy the level of outrage at the on-site voters for not voting for Team Beat

Geraldine Solis

jeff doesn't want any spoilers. most especially the line up. 🤦🥹

Mae

There's a possibility that we will be getting Mamma Mia AHOF version 🤧

Jammyia

This is late, but i do feel like its kinda understandable for Woongki to cry on stage bc of the burden he's had since the missions started. With him carrying Team Beat up to this round, and loosing every single time, he probably felt really helpless. Add to the fact the pressure of securing a song that is supposedly made especially for them, the starting lineup, the loss might have been too much for him so he broke down.

Jammyia

For Mamma Mia, i think its just preference. I do think that Beat suits the vocals and vibe of the song better, but i dont mind Groove either. But i have to admit that at some parts, the sexy vibe was a bit too much. For Prison, i'd rather listen to Groove vocals, Han was just perfect, but prefer the choreography of Rhythm better.

rainicity

A bit random (and months late) but when Changsub said Prison was inspired by BEAST and BIGBANG last ep, I was so bothered because the intro and chorus reminded me of some of their songs and it finally hit me while watching this reaction that it could be BIGBANG's Monster and BEAST's Fiction haha xD

Alice

Hard disagree. For me the why has to come before the how in Art, so even if a group does the sexiest performance ever for an upbeat or a heartbreaking Song it just doesn't work. Mama mia as a song is an innocent upbeat song about chasing you dreams. It just doesn't work as sexy. I had the same problem during grooves missing you performance where there was 1 moment where Park Han and Zen Zen were acting cute. It's a heartbreaking song and thats the Emotion you need to bring, that moment took me so out of it. I have the same problem with this grpoves performance. It's jarring and doesn't serve the song like a performance should. Best perfectly captured the vibe and mood, they should have 1000%, but sadly the korean live audience only cares about abs, smh.

Alice

I also think woong ki is just a very extroverted person that wears his heart on his sleeve. And he even said how important that was for him, both emotionally, professionally and probably also because of El Capitxn. He had so much price riding on it and worked so hard and he was understandably very confident (from his Perspektive as a professional who understands music he knew they perfectly captured the song. And the songs vibe is great for the team. He also knew that grooves performance did not. Little did he know, the audience only cares about abs so he was probably very blindsided). And as he said, hes been trying for so long and experienced so many setbacks, so much los, it must have been so tiring and frustrating to hear he lost again. Against his past team mate no less. An absolute Gut punch. At least that's how I saw it.

Alice

Rightfully tbh

Alice

Ok, last little tidbit on the Woong Ki situation. There's rumors that he was asked to leave the group cause of his more feminine image (more in Boys planet). There's been long speculation that he might not be 100% straight and the rumor is either Homophobia or problems with his flamboyant image were why he was kicked out by the company. So than if you imagine yourself in his situation: probably having been told his whole life he's not "manly" enough and bs like that and than going up against your very stereotypically masculine former team mate who your former company deemed "manly" another to stay. And you give it you all, and have a song tailored to you (he is obviously the ace and face of beat and El Capitain choses the songs mostly for Woong Ki I would say) and you hear you lost. With a performance that embodies you boyish, youthful, soft image. Against a Performance that embodies traditional masculinity and doesn't fit the song and was honest inferior. It would feel very frustrating and might feel like referendum on your image, your persona, your very existence. And might touch on some old wounds.

Jess 1993

Very late to this but, after 4 times watching this, I'm still not over Beat team losing the song.... the concept fits the song better... The abs votes are really upsetting ! Same thing happened when I watched BP, some people became MVP when they barely had any lines and presence but they showed some abs so... As someone who enjoys fairness and talent based decisions, I should just stop watching those type of shows ^^ NCT Lastart was the only show which didn't get me frustrated (cause no public votes) For TG vs TR, my preference was for TR, the choreo felt less repetitive and there were less mistakes in my, not professionnal, opinion, but I understand it's a question of preference here. And Park Han did really the best out of anyone so... But the difference in points is so unfair... And to be honest, I was not vibing with Kenta.. He was very hyped but I don't really get the appeal (outside of the abs), his deep voice is nice but I don't feel he uses it the best... I don't know how to explain it...

Cindy

Thanks for this honest reaction. I agree with you. In my honest opinion, no other groups could beat Groove on vocals, and so they really deserved the song Prison. The quality and dynamics of their vocals are just different, even though Rhythm did great too and could hit those high notes. Such a shame that Groove, esp. Kenta, got a lot of hate comments because they won this round. Sigh. Glad that UL is over already.

Rodeo Princess

I prefer Rhythm's prison performance and I think they deserve to win at that moment coz the did good overall. It's just well balance and this was a performance so I was more impress to them even if groove had better vocals. Groove's choreo was not that impressive plus they had few mistakes in vocals and dancing which are very obvious. But if it's smth i'd listen on my playlist, I'd love to listen to groove's ver

TsubasaSebong

You talked a lot about the TECHNICAL side, but I felt like you didn't consider all the aspects when comparing the two "Prison" performances. Vocally, Team Groove was undoubtedly better. But in terms of the overall technical performance, I'd give it to Team Rhythm Bench. A performance isn't just about singing—it's also about conveying the message of the song. TRB executed the story behind "Prison" through their facial expressions, choreography, and overall stage direction without sacrificing their vocals or rap. Their vocals weren't on Team Groove's level, but they still delivered them cleanly without obvious mistakes. It's also worth noting that the blond member isn't even a vocalist, yet he stepped up to support Sirin and did an impressive job. Expression-wise, especially for the centers, I couldn't understand Kenta's approach. "Prison" is a song that calls for desperation, sadness, hopelessness, and intensity, but his expressions often came across as smiling or almost flirtatious, which didn't match the concept for me. Vocals: Team Groove Dance: Team Rhythm Bench Storytelling / Choreography / Facial Expressions: Team Rhythm Bench That's why I agree with the contestants who said, "It comes down to personal preference." The two teams approached "Prison" differently based on their strengths—Team Groove emphasized vocals, while Team Rhythm Bench emphasized performance and storytelling. While listening to your analysis, I felt that you leaned a little more toward the vocal aspect, but forgot that this is about intercepting the song through overall performance, not just vocals alone. Even Changsub looked genuinely worried that Team Rhythm Bench might steal the song. That alone showed how well-prepared and competitive their performance was. Anyway, it is not about who won. Song-wise, Team Groove definitely should own "Prison" because I believe it's their voices that could give justice to the song. But if I were to vote for who performed better, I'd choose the Rhythm Bench.

TsubasaSebong

I agree with you that crying on stage isn't usually the most professional way to handle a loss. However, I think Cha Woongki simply couldn't hold back his emotions. That competition was very personal to him because of Kyung Ho, and losing to him must have hurt his pride and emotions more than anyone realized.
