Somehow Sieun always talks about Suho in presence of Baku like he si telling him. "I gotta go meet ur dad"!! And Baku is like "Dad is alright"! (Twinkling Watermelon reference 😅)

I am hoping for a S3. The way S2 ended makes me think there might be S3. I wanna know more about BaekJin's backstory, why he became the way he is now, why he is working for that CEO guy, why after learning fighting from Baku, Baekjin started using the skills for bad deeds and also all the stuff with orphanage. Hoping he didn't actually die, the 2 union guys in the back kinda had a smirk so gives me hope that he might have faked his death. SeongJe I felt was underutilized. I wanted to see more of him and now that he is replacing Baekjin as the boss I am wondering maybe in S3 we will see more of him if S3 happens. This season felt like a setup season for S3. Lot of characters were introduced but except Baku, the other characters weren't touched upon in depth and we may get to know more about them in S3. So I am really hoping that there is a S3.

I took Seong-je's switch as a result of Baek-jin threatening to harm him if he told the truth to the police. Seong-je believed that Baek-jin would have his back and that they were partners, but Baek-jin was so focused on trying to get Baku to almost be his right-hand man. Seong-je was loyal to Baek-jin, but he didn't recieve loyalty back. Jun-tae was loyal to his friends by not doing what was asked of him by Baek-jin and the union which I think "Hat's off to the romantic" means. Plus, the union members kinda underminded him by believing that he left the union. Also, I think he just likes the "fun" or action of doing something that could cause trouble. Siting him betraying Sieun after we think we switched sides.

Did you know season 2 is actually where the story starts in the webtoon and season 1 was only based on a small flashback. The main story is season 2

Akshi Ankita

Hope you watch twinkling watermelon or study group(only 10 episodes) next

Akshi Ankita

I just realised the child actor who played Baku also played the younger version of him in twinkling watermelon

Rojen Rean Cabasag

in the episode where seong je fought those thugs for juntae, i think he acknowledges juntae's loyalty towards baku as their top dog in eunjang, that's why he kind of sided him and just earned his respect. this is just based on my observation on that scene

Pratiksha Majee

Same. I suggested Twinkling Watermelon also. I think Jeff added Twinkling Watermelon to his list. Really hope he reacts to it.

Maryna Korab

I don't think they were smirking, unfortunately

i haven’t read the manhwa so not too sure on baek jin’s story, but the way in the past when baek jin said it was his place to baku when he was visiting and they played basketball to then him talking to the lady about the donations etc, to me it showed that he grew up in an orphanage but i am not too sure. just the way i interpreted it really loved this season, i truly hope we get a season 3 some day. looking forward to diving into new stories, even back stories, and like you said seeing that group together (fingers crossed). truly congrats to everyone involved in this, was incredible ~

this is just straight up masterpiece for me!! the acting is INCREDIBLE!! gotak and juntae's friendship was SO CUTEEE like I could die for them (they were also giving bl imo🤣), many people are comparing them to Suho and Sieun in another universe but I lowkey feel like it's what Boemseok wanted him and suho looks like☹️ I also heard a theory that Beomseok when he was sent to study abroad he died (suicide) from the guilt and that's why he keeps appearing to sieun and he didn't want sieun to woke up so he wouldn't be the only one who felt the guilt, like he didn't want to be alone and also couldn't accept the fact that it was HIS fault and wanted to blame someone else (Suho told him in the ring one sentence "Beomseok stop blaming others." before Boemseok beat him up) Not enough Seongje for me like that man is SO FIIIINE !!!! I think the boss/CEO killed Baekjin since he caused him trouble at the end and that's why he gave the card to Seongje. MY BOY SUHO IS BAAAAACK AND ALIIIIVE!!!!!!!!! to those ppl who said he won't be in s2 and all those articles FUCK YOUUUU!! but like we at least deserved a hug from them... also Suho wearing Sieun's grey hoodie just broke me like give me 2 more episodes of just them talking and eating and hugging and kis- I said nothing🥸 thanks Jeff for the reaction btw🩷

Yessss! I've been waiting for you to post this. So excited to see your thoughts.

Danielle

I think the backstory is that BaekJin grew up in an orphanage and that’s why he was giving back to the same orphanage that raised him and it’s possible the boss took him in later. But in the end when BaekJin messed up with the union too many times and the boss said if he had to come back again he would kill him and so it would make sense if the boss was the one that killed him.

fayewaters

The way I understood it, Cheongang (his boss) is definitely the one who is behind Baekjin's death.

fayewaters

Also, Baekjin is an orphan. The orphanage where he sends help and money to is the orphanage where he grew up.

Freya Sumi

You're not alone in thinking that the actor for Baku looked really old. I thought a lot of the actors did on my first watch, but with the second watch, I've gotten used to it. From what I've read in comments, Seongje does the same betrayal in the webtoon because he just does whatever he finds most fun at the moment. He's very impulsive. Like others, I feel like there was a little bit of feelings of betrayal there too when Baekjin was only concerned about what he said to the police, but just enough to create a bit of chaos because he did still care for him. It was my second time watching that scene with Suho, but I was still right there with you sobbing my eyes out. In my opinion, the cheongang boss killed Baekjin, and it wasn't the result of Sieun and his friends. The boss said earlier in the show that if he had to come back, he'd kill him + right after he said he didn't know where Baekjin is, they show a funeral wreath for Baekjin from cheongang. S1 is my favorite, but I still really enjoyed this season and the new characters. I also would welcome a third season but am just fine with everything ending here and ignoring the mid-credit scenes.

Freya Sumi

While S1 may be my favorite, it's so heavy and brutal that I'll likely rewatch S2 more and more thoroughly to see Sieun blossoming with the power of friendship again. There are many scenes in the first season that I skip.

mac

The Netflix video quality's been weird for me too (I think in the same scenes even) 💀

mac

With Seongje and Juntae's scene, I feel like it's more of admiring his tenacity or beliefs (what he referred to as "romance(낭만)") and just him making the situation more amusing for himself. (The phrase he said can also be interpreted as "Okay, your spirit/passion gets a pass" but I guess they translated it more poetically but idk why they decided to translate it that way because 합격 literally means "to pass" and it would've been easier to understand the situation....🤣)

Faa

For me, Baek Jin is just a kid who got lost in a wild world. He has no good adult in his life to guide him and once he learned how to fight back, he lost to the taste of power. Somehow, he ended up working for the boss, and like you said, once he got in, he couldn’t get out. At the end of this, it costed his life. He’s the example of kids who lost and won’t be able to come back or redeem themselves because they went too far.

Channie T

Seongje was never mentally in the union or any side, he just do thing because it fun or just simply because he can. He is a crazy lunatic. He found the Eunjang squad attitude amusing including Juntae whom was loyal to his friends until the end although he is weak and cannot defend himself at all. Also he is not exactly on the union side at that point too, he took a break because he was probably annoyed of at Baekjin questioning his loyalty and it wasn't fun for him anymore.

David

Loved watching this with you, a great season 2. Twinkling Watermelon would be my recommendation as it has both Baku and Su-Ho and it's sooo good.

asdf

I also think he's stuck on the gang and I think him donating and considering baku as a friend (in a toxic way) are his way to take a breath

jeffavenue

I wish it was a bit more established before the scene with juntae. I had the impression he was loyal to the union. maybe if I rewatch ill see more of it

jeffavenue

this is true that a lot of kids get lost early on and have no way out and it's too late 🥺

jeffavenue

ya the pixelation was weirddd. it looks like those clips didn't render properly upon export and then they didn't watch the entire thing before publishing on Netflix.

jeffavenue

oh that makes more sense to give a pass than "that's romantic" LOL especially from someone like him, he would not have that in his vocabulary lol

jeffavenue

if the boss killed baekjin, we are definitely getting S3 cause they need to sort that out so viewers don't think the boys killed him 😅

jeffavenue

oh whaattt. did I miss the orphan part or was it just on the webtoon? wish they mentioned that if so. unless they're doing s3 and exploring that more. but even if so, it's counterproductive cause he's stealing from poor kids to give to other poor kids 🥺 there is a sentimental aspect there tho ofc

jeffavenue

ohhh that would explain his involvement with the bosssss and having no way out

jeffavenue

I think suho needed to appear for this season to have a pay off. it was just a matter of how or in what capacity. it was strategic they didn't tease the actor coming back because it would spoil it fr lol

jeffavenue

it looks like you're right about the orphanage based on the comments! I was too slow to connect it that way hahaha

jeffavenue

oh fr? damnn. they did goooood with stretching out that prequel

Natalie

if you could could you watch some of the interviews of the cast, especially the one with the lee junyoung (seungjae) and park jihoon (sieun)! And some behind the scenes!!

Freya Sumi

I don't remember if you asked about this or not, but I do remember you mentioning Gotak's kicks being high! As I've been watching some bts stuff and reading about the actors, I found out that Lee Minjae, his actor, did 11 years of taekwondo, and did some judo, boxing, etc. as well. Also! Ryeo Un, Baku's actor, looks so much younger as himself! He's such a cutie.

Andra

Guys , am I the only one thirsting over Seong-je? 👀😂

Nogana Sarangova

Of course, if you mess with mafia, there is only way I guess And seongje understand it

Alycia Beintema

pretty sure that the guy on the motorcycle was one of the union members cuz they came from the warehouse where the bikes were stored. at least I hope so otherwise it was super random and weird lol

May Fagutao

He wore si-eun's jacket 🥹❤️‍🩹
