Here we goo!! New season! What an entertaining pilot ep! I added like 1 hour worth of commentary haha. Which crew are you rooting for??

LIKE this post if you're watching with me!

For this show, subs are up on Viu on Wednesdays for me that's why this is a bit late (since it aired on Tuesday night). So for future eps, expect Thursday uploads.

PS. Heads up I will be uploading a clip/highlight of this reaction on Youtube if I can get over the copyright somehow.

Yess I've been waiting! Can't wait to watch this ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

gigi

Yayyy we have been waiting🔥

Pratiksha Majee

Kyoka and Danica should have won I feel.

So excited to watch along! I actually like that the judges are basing their decisions more on performance because if the rest of the season is like anything else in the swf shows, then the performance is more important! All of these people are amazing dancers for sure but how they pull their performances together is what really counts in my opinion

Alyssa

Early and grabbing my popcorn 🤩🍿 Almost 4 hrs amazing!!

Dunia

Monica is pregnant or she was that why she didn’t dance in the group video dance

Dunia

And for the judge the lady is half filipino

Hana Eccleston

i was so confused as to why they chose 3 judges that are choreography based, especially how the first couple episodes are more focused on battles and the special judge was a choreo dancer. at least bring in a battler as a special judge for the first episode cuz otherwise the preferences are too biased. kyoka was 100% the winner in terms of a battle and she would have won if the judges were more familiar with the battle scene. we all know everyone is a great dancer but why are the standards for who wins and loses for the battling section of the show not based on what would actually happen in a battle competition. rie is a great dancer but in the battle she has a few repetitive movements because she's not used to freestyling.

omg its finally here!!! i've never been so happy to hear your perspective since the release of the episode you dont understandddd😭 firstly, I was wondering if you’d consider checking out the uncut battles on The Choom’s YouTube channel! they upload the full versions right after each episode airs, so you get to see the battles without any cuts to reactions, just pure dancing. I feel like watching the full unedited battles gives a much clearer picture and can really help explain some of the judges’ comments and reasoning behind who they chose as winners... anyway, I just wanted to say how refreshing it was to hear a perspective from someone who really gets it, someone who reacts and comments with an open mind. as amazing as it is that the Street Dance Fighter series has grown in popularity and created such a huge platform for dancers globally, that also means there are now way more opinions and biases floating around.... from what I’ve seen on the timeline, a lot of fans seem upset with the judging panel. especially because of the weight they place on performance aspects in their decisions. this rubbed many people the wrong way, and now alot are questioning, like “why would you get choreographers to judge a freestyle battle?” but as a dancer myself, I honestly 100% understood and agreed with the comments you made😭 while watching the show in real time, most of the judges’ decisions made sense to me (except for the initial heels battle between Danica and Gabee… personally, I feel like Danica should’ve won that one 🥹) I was genuinely shocked at the amount of backlash fans were expressing online about the “horrible judging” and the emphasis on performance level. but like you said...this is a show🤷🏻‍♀️ its a reality TV program, and if you want to win, you have to play the game. I think that’s something many newer fans haven’t quite come to terms with yet. i've even seen comments like, “then don’t call it Street ____ Dance Fighter if you’re not judging based on street/underground dance” 😭 like come on now… we’re 3 to 4 seasons in. yall should know how Mnet works by now 🫢 also… not sure if it’s just my timeline, but I’ve been seeing so much hate directed at BUMSUP lately, and it’s honestly sad. the way their achievements and efforts are being belittled is way too much. people are saying the members “can’t dance” 😭 or calling them boring, outdated, and even claiming that they’re only still in the competition because “Korea would never let a foreign team win” 🧍🏻‍♀️🧍🏻‍♀️🧍🏻‍♀️ Gabee in particular is getting a ton of hate now because of the heels battle results :// her comments section is honestly heartbreaking to read...at the end of the day, this is Mnet’s show. so much is cut and edited, and unfortunately the dancers, who are just there to dance, are the ones taking the heat :'( some of them have already spoken out, saying things like “words have been twisted,” “battles are subjective,” and “it’s just TV.” on their personal social media..theyve also made it clear that despite the competition, the girls still love and support one another🥺🥺 its really the fans who are creating unnecessary hate...and that’s so disheartening to see, because the whole point of the show should be to lift dancers up, not to tear each other down... I really appreciated when you brought up how there’s no need to put one dance style down just to make another look better...theyre all incredible in their own ways. it really just depends on the person watching. there's no such thing as one being more valid or “real” than the other. Dance is such a beautiful and diverse scene, from old school to new school, commercial to underground. I just hope this new wave of viewers learns that a few seconds of Mnet-edited footage does not define a dancer or the journey they’ve gone through to get to where they are. being upset about a battle result is fine. but using that as a reason to tear a dancer down? that's not it :( ooof this turned into a long one AHAHAH😭 but thank you again for your reactions, I absolutely love them 🫶🏻 cant wait to see more!!

🕯️

oh also! forgot to mention actually on The Choom's channel they not only release the full uncut battle, but theres also unaired battles as well! so ones that werent even in the final episode but you'll get to see the full battle on their yt channel if youre interested in that!

rum

yea Monica became pregnant after the team union and became more careful not to dance, so she took the position of team manager, not team member. That's why her post was replaced by Lip J.

rum

There are many things I want to talk about, but I think other people said already most of it. Instead, to tell you an interesting fact about your wife(LOL) Hanbin, he has a history of participating in Ibuki's workshop. The main characters of this episode's legend, Waacking Battle, were all teachers of the past! And AG Squad's Aaliyah, who battled with Aiki, is just a few years older than Aiki's daughter... How young...😳 Aiki did a live broadcast after the first episode, apologizing during a filming break for hitting her incorrectly between her legs at the end of the battle, and she coolly accepted and said "We all have that, so that's fine"...🤣

Jee Emm

Kyoka and Danica were robbed for real, they should have won those rounds. Kyoka's loss was a little controversial online, people were mad, and rightfully so. LOL

Nigel W.

i think sdgf2 prize was 10k scholarship or something lol

Nigel W.

I dont mind performance being a factor in the judging, I just dont think it should trump everything else, especially in a battle.

M B

Lip J used to have a lot more dynamics to her dancing but since she hurt her knee, I feel like she lost a lot to her dance

Laure

I'm so excited to follow this show with you! Your comments are always so good and spot on. Please don't apologize for pausing to make those comments. I'm pretty much sure most of us subscribed because we like them :))

Mileria

I don’t mind performance taking the day when it comes to dancers at a similar level like Lip J and Ibuki. But for Kyoka/Rie Hara and Danica/Gabee, the skill and technique shown in those performances should have clearly won. You can even see from the reactions on social media, the performance didn’t persuade non-dancer viewers on those 2 battles.

Sara

There are so many things that I wanna say, lets start with the judges. 1. The fact that NONE of the judges are battlers yet judging a battle is INSANE to me. The judge should always be the one with more expertise not the other way around. Proof is Trixx, Waackxxxy and jblack ( if you remember him for hit the stage), all well known, seasoned battlers, agreeing that Kyoka and Danica deserved the win, ESPECIALLY Kyoka. 2. When you mentioned that Mike shouldn't tell the other judges about the dancers, you missed a huge point. That is the fact that those judges don't know these profound dancers? Yet they qualify to judge them? These are not typical unknown dancers. They are as he keeps repeating world champions. I, myself, not being able to walk straight let alone dance know more about the battle and dance scene than the judges? I can look past everything but not knowing Kyoka is ridiculous and just goes to show they aren't involved in the dance scene enough to judge. 3. I just have to mention that AG squad leader posted a story where she basically said her words are taken out of context and she loves RF girls. I mean are we surprised but just keep that in mind.

jess

I actually checked this out for Hanbin MC but ended up watching a majority with you LOL! This was super entertaining, they’re all SO talented!! Marlee was so good!!!! Same with Ibuki and Lip J battle!!!

jeffavenue

when I was editing, I got more and more in awe of Danica's segment. definitely gonna keep an eye out on her!

jeffavenue

I agree. ideally have one special judge whose expertise is of that segment (battlers for battles and choreographers for the choreography challenges). theyve been doing this show a long time and should know that by now

Pratiksha Majee

so was Danica's..both of their's loss was controversial online..

jeffavenue

hi! thanks for taking the time to write this out! I'm not sure about toggling to the choom version. I've had a poll before to see if people want me to do that but lot of people was ok with the broadcast version instead. I'll think about it! I haven't seen the timeline and the comments section for BUMSUP members but that's terrible! sadly I'm not surprised cause bada gets a lot of hate as well and it's just so baseless. a lot of "hate" is honestly just projection. dancers know these girls can dance. they may have off times just like everyone else, but it doesn't mean they're terrible dancers. they're all professionals. we'll see about the unaired battles! will depend on the demand as there is a lot to cover

jeffavenue

hahaha I love how you referred to my wife lol. cool fun fact! I need hanbin to do a special stage with ibuki and lip j ASAP. also glad the girls made up!

jeffavenue

fair! ideally someone has both technique and performance/creativity!

jeffavenue

oh nooo didn't know that happened to her 🥲

jeffavenue

1. omg trixx and Waackxxxy would slay as judges! I dont remember jblack - hit the stage wow what a throwback! I hope they get some of these battlers on later this season when we're battling for our lives! 2. just in general and not specific to this show, I think knowing who the dancers are or where they came from is a bit irrelevant to judging. if a world champion goes up on there and does not live up to their title vs. an unknown dancer who absolutely kills it, it's still gonna go to the better dancer in that moment. regardless of their title or lack there of. another example: if a Tony award winning singer goes up on stage and sings but cracks at the bridge vs. an unknown singer who nails the same song, the former's Tony win won't matter. the amateur singer is the better singer in that specific moment. I hope this makes sense. that's not to say that I agree with putting less value on technique. even though I get why they go with performance more for judging, I do wish technique was more emphasized. 3. ah ya I'm not really taking the drama seriously. been doing this enough time to know mnet plays everything up lol.

Sara

I totally get what you are saying but I think I didn't explain my point well. Not knowing a world wide dancer doesn't harm their judgment but them as dancers, does that make sense?. It's like judging a waacking battle between LipJ and Waackxxxy but knowing neither of them. Yes they might still judge well but not knowing them is a problem and means they are not keeping up with the dance scene as much as they must. That is my issue, they could EASILY find someone more knowledgeable. But honestly all things aside, JYP is actually decent, except for not voting for Kyoka, he seems to be the most reasonable one. I guess I'll just have to wait n see

heyitspf

i love how we have so much (kinda) filipino representative here! Like Logistix/Logan from Motiv is Fil-Am! RieHata is Fil-Jap! and Aliya Janell is also Half Filo!!

Jay

when it comes to mike song informing the other judges, i don't mind because it actually acts more like hes providing more context and education for the viewers who aren't as well versed with the dance community. also that was jyp who was giving background info for that specific part, not mike song

Sasha Shvorin

i wonder if they are instructed to not have a real dance criteria and keep it vague enough so they can always justify inconsistent judgment based on their liking. its hard not to roll eyes again at mikes "its gonna be who wants it more today", like bruh

Sasha Shvorin

youre wrong on the point of knowing who the dancers are, your past or what youre known for is irrelevant. youre famous in the media? cool, but it doesnt matter when it comes to your battle, if you did shitty then who cares youre a known dancer? being famous doesnt equal to be a good dancer, and just because someone isnt famous or known, doesnt mean they arent good dancers.

TD

Kyoka and two other members of OJO gang did a reaction and I think it’s a very interesting watch. They mention the inconsistency in judging criteria. JY Park first thing mentions that he is judging for technique and then goes on to do the opposite in most cases. I personally think that for this section MNET should have brought battlers because the No Respect Section is rooted in battle format. You can watch Trix or Waxxcy’s reaction and clearly see how they bring much more depth in judgement and understanding of such a format. Mike Song would be amazing for sections like mega crew or JYP for the class missions and the lady judge too but how do you bring three choreographers and more commercial dancers to judge a street dance battle, call-out sorta section?! The show is at a point where the show itself is so big to a point where you do not need judges who are well known to the public to draw more attention. It would give the show more credibility to bring experts in the respected format of each mission that can make sound judgements, even if the public does not know them well and they are more based in the underground scene. I just hope that MNET does justice for the elimination battles. If they repeat this at the expense of a crew getting eliminated because the judges don’t see their offerings, I would just be really disappointed. Every dancer on this show deserves to have their own expertise acknowledged and rewarded.

Elena

omg i remember ibuki from street dance of china

CPYN

ibuki actually had injury on her right arm :(( that may be why there were less waacking elements in her battle, you could see she did more moves using her left arm.
