Wait this is such perfect timing! I literally just had my 4 1/2 hour flight home from university (I just finished my 2nd year so halfway done yay 🥳) and I started watching this but wasn’t able to finish so I’m excited to finish with you! Also, I’m so excited to catch up with everything with you since I got so behind and hopefully watch boys planet 2 while it’s airing!! (though I sadly do have to start my summer internship soon but I’m taking it light this summer since last summer I worked 2 jobs - 40hrs a week and 30hrs a week - so I want a more chill summer)

Also so sorry to bother, and I know you haven’t filmed for YouTube in a while, but when you do, do you plan on reacting to XLOV? I’m just super obsessed and awed by them since they’re really pushing the boundaries in kpop and doing something that no one else is. I also feel like you can’t have pride month without at least seeing XLOV’s comeback. The title track 1&Only is really good and as a dancer myself I’m actually a really big fan of how the choreography was composed and i think you’d really enjoy watching it. They also just released a performance video for their b side Bizness which has really innovative skirt choreography that the members made themselves

Knew you would have liked this. I personally have been obsessed with the songs to a point I'm listening to them on repeat. I think one of the reasons why they are so palatable to us is that most of the songs of the movie remind of some actual kpop songs. Examples, "What it sounds like" is similar to "All Night" by IVE, "Golden" sounds like "I AM" by IVE, the intro to "Done" sounds like the intro to Stray Kids "Maniac" ... and so on. Also, since you mentioned ASTRO when listening to Soda Pop, I think it's actually based off of an ASTRO song and Jinu's aesthetic is based off of popular K-drama actors, the artist who created him mentioned Cha Eunwoo and Nam Joohyuk as inspiration. Only minor point --- I would have loved to listen to Ahn Hyoseop also sing, since he kwows how to do it, rather than just voicing the character but the singer who sang Jinu's parts was amazing anyway so can't really complain. <3

the singer who voiced rumi in the songs is EJAE who used to be an SM trainee and is now a brooklyn-based songwriter and producer - she's done songs for twice, red velvet, aespa, kard etc. - and she co-wrote the original songs for the movie plus sang all the demos, including the ones for saja boys. the ending song ("this is what it sounds like") was very emotional for her because it resonated with her experience as a kpop trainee when she had to hide anything labeled as imperfection about herself (she mentioned this in a forbes interview as being too loud, too big, not feminine enough etc.) and that can be really tough on a person's confidence and sense of self. she also drew on her experience as korean-american (the movie's writer/director is korean-canadian btw) as inpiration for zoey's lines about being torn between two sides of herself. aaaaanyway, i think jinu's betrayal of his own family kinda sealed his fate (it's like the greatest dishonor in korean culture) bc he could not escape the guilt of what he's done... but there are a LOT of shippers and jinu fans who have tons of theories on how he could return, so you're not alone :) OH - junhee from A.C.E did a cover of Your Idol and absolutely killed it, you should check it out (i think it got over a million views in 2 days). talk about viral!

omg jeff I just got to watching this and am OBSESSED!! was also shocked at how good the music was!! Like all of the songs LOL!! Also the plot was pretty good, and a lot of the characteristics were realistic and funny, I was super surprised at how good of a production this was and so happy to much of the general public is enjoying this! also idk if you saw but some of ZB1 members did a quick titkok dance to soda pop :))) it was so cute LOL
