Hiii - just sharing my thoughts on some of the stuff happening post-finale since I was so hungry by the end of the reaction and I also needed time to marinate and collect my thoughts. Nothing dramatic haha.

I am refraining from talking about how each member fits in the group because at this point, we need to wait for their debut and see what they have in store for us, which I'm really excited about!

For ZB1 fans -- reminder I will be reacting to their tour this coming week.

The debut line up is pretty much was was expected, that said I won’t be supporting. Not because my pick did not debut but because something just does not sit right with me with the group. Idk what but there must be a reason. That’s all I have to say

Lazycloud

We're for sure probably going to get a 2nd group haha (EVNNE, JBJ, etc.). I do think fans need to temper who they think will get put into it because EVNNE is pretty much just Yuehua and WakeOne featuring Keita (boo Rain Company). I don't think there will be a lot of companies willing to collaborate. So, with that in mind, I would go the opposite of Alpha Drive One. Cute/youthful concept and a lot of members. I'm choosing little to no C Planet because I don't know who is all competing on the spinoff. And I'm trying to choose trainees from companies I think who are willing to play nice. So a lot of members from the same company makes it easier. And I also think contestants who belonged to other groups already are likely just going to return to their groups (so no Kang Min, Jun Min, Han Harry June, etc). So my prediction is: 1) Chuei Liyu - FNC just debuted 2 boy groups within the last 2-3 years so Liyu has time. 2) Masato - iNKODE 3) Park Jun Il - iNKODE 4) Sen - iNKODE - all three being iNKODE I think makes it easier 5) Kang Woo Jin - individual trainee 6) Sun Heng Yu - individual trainee, not belonging to a company makes it easier 7) Jung Hyun Jun - Nouer, they just debuted NouerA and An Xin and Jia Hao are with ALD1 8) Yi Chen - Wake One 9) Hsu Ching Yu - Wake One - Wake One is usually willing to play nice and rarely make their own personal groups. They quite frankly seem obsessed with project groups. 10) Kim Jae Hyun - CUBE 11) Na Yun Seo - CUBE - they just debuted/rebranded NOWZ so I could see them be willing to collaborate. I mean in 5 years Yun Seo and Jae Hyun will only still be 20. So unfortunately, I think ES Nation (Jang Han Eum) and IST (Park Dong Gyu, Arctic, Rensho, Kim Si Hwan) are going to say no.

There is so much hate on Twitter, which is to be expected after a survival😭 but it already seems to be slowing down already tbh. Loll, I see a lot about F1are on my tl, and the fighting is a lot more negative than I thought tbh😭 I really love the lineup that they want! But the way that the F1are fans and ald1 fans are fighting is so tiring already (which is to be expected after a survival show loll) I feel like the already debuted idols that are wanted in the F1are group would be trickier to set up, and that's why the kfans might not get everyone 😔 which is unfortunate since I think the group was first based around kangmin maybe....?? Idk for sure about that though Oh, fun fact actually! When you talked about the vocals for ald1, jiahao has shown in the previous survival show he and anxin were on, that he can sing and belt I think! This is why I was surprised he went for more rap positions in boys planet loll. I know that xinlong can sing as well, he doesn't just do rapping. He was actually more of a vocal before when he was younger I think if I'm remembering correctly. Anxin, I am pretty confident that he will get better. Sanghyeon I can see improving as well, but I think I can see him more of a rap and rap singing type of style maybe. Leo is obviously good, etc etc loll

jeffavenue

it did end up being the same line up as in the 3-pick but I wouldn't say it was completely to be expected given a lot of people were voting with pairs in mind (like leowon). I think it was very unpredictable in a way where by finale, we don't know who people would be dropping from their 3-pick and pairings. like Leo from top 3 to top 6. more and he would've been out of the group. sanghyeon almost being out of the lineup as well. like what if people rallied to support his bestie li yu since he was out of the top 8 for a bit there just to make sure they both debut. jia hao did end up going viral twice but it was his first time in the top 8 (semi-final) and definitely could've dropped as well as it was late in the season where a lot of people may have voted for him in their 3-pick, but to 1 pick could've gone differently. i was monitoring the conversation online throughout the week of the finale and rumoured ranks were all over the place and was changing every hour. so even if rumoured, that could've swayed people to vote in different ways. it's probably more surprising that it ended up actually being the same lineup as the semis (for me anyway haha)

Amber

Yeah there was so many likeable trainees for me this time too. Im happy and sad too. I have the same four faves in the lineup as you haha I'm looking forward to their debut song to see what they're going to give us. I'm also looking forward to my other fave trainees on their journey too, I'm hoping they're given some great opportunities from being on the show. I've heard there's been so much hate spread about most of the lineup on X.....it's quite sad, bringing down others instead of supporting your faves 😔 I think alot of people we're wanting a different concept/line up to debut instead. Let's spread positivity and support (I now follow so many trainees on Instagram and can't wait to see what's next for them 😊)

Zerose777

I think that the people saying, "Who's going to sing?" Don't understand that we probably haven't even heard half of their potential. Geonwoo is a singer, yet he kept being put in rapper positions. Sanghyeon had a fear about doing an actual rap song because he was worried that would compromise his rank. I've barely heard what Jiahao's voice sounds like because he usually takes dance positions. Now that they've made it; I have a feeling we'll start hearing their potential and some hidden gems. Global people criticized Yujin and Gyuvin because they were "Dozens" in their eyes and the haters shut up real quick. Before they usually got rap verses or easy singing lines while they built their skills and next thing you know Gyuvin goes viral for his amazing vocals in their "Run Run" cover. We now have them taking on way more vocally challenging singing roles like in Devil Game, Goosebumps, Take My Hand, etc. Also, people forget that some of the most popular groups don't have Super Junior level vocals, but they make songs that cater to their voices. In Project 7, we had every Main Vocal under the sun and none of them debuted. In Close Your Eye's, the group doesn't even have a vocalist like Leo or Anxin, the group is full of dancers and rappers, and a member named Kim Sungmin who is severely hated because he couldn't sing or dance really at all and still made the group. He's improved a lot though so I'm proud of him. But their music slaps. Even people who hated the lineup admitted that their debut had to go down in history as one of the best debuts in not only 5th gen, but just Kpop and I agree wholeheartedly. Even groups like Txt, Itzy, &Team etc. don't have I'd say a Main Main vocal level singer like Jaehee from Nct Wish or Taerae and Hao in ZB1, but they usually make music to their strengths. TXT isn't releasing a song like Mama by Exo because they can't and that's fine. The company and they themselves know their strengths and weaknesses. TXT make bops like Love Language, Deja Vu, etc. As long as their music is good, they'll be fine.

jeffavenue

ya im also thinking IST would want to keep donggyu given that they seemingly have enough trainees on their secret ig account to debut. junmin and lee jeong I feel might be able to join because as they said on the show, their company has not been promoting them. I guess they could try one more comeback to see if that would click with their new-found popularity. I'm curious if the k-side would want anyone else outside their proposed group - like if they are open to that.

Lazycloud

Agreed. Very rarely do they just debut the second half of the finalists for the second group, like I was surprised Kamden wasn't part of EVNNE when they got announced. Then bam, debuted in Ampers&One. Honestly if Jun Min and Lee Jeong can debut with the 2nd project group, I would be very happy haha. But I am assuming, like you said, they might go back to WHIB and they're going to see if the fans follow.

jeffavenue

yes all great points! we haven't seen a lot of what these guys can do vocally. I agree with yujiin and gyuvin and also would like to add that gunwook was not branded as a main vocalist on the show but evidently a very capable vocalist post-show. and also vice-versa: vocalists being able to rap like Matthew. so there's a lot to look forward to here with ald1.

I'm going to write an essay about F1are so beware lol. Obligatory I do like ALD1 so none of this is a hate comment, I just want to share detailed info so people know more about what’s going on with F1are. A lot of these things were mentioned in the video but there is some extra. Summarized Background --> Korean fans don't like the ALD1's final lineup. Yes, most still support, and some of the hatred being sent is from fans of those who didn't make it in, but genuinely, a good 40% of Korean voters don't like the lineup because there is no Liyu, no Leejeong, and they feel iffy about Leo and Xinlong. "F1are” is the secondary group koreans fans made up consisting of Liyu, Kangmin, Hanuem, Donggyu, Junmin, Sen, Sato, Leejeong, Inhu, Woojin, and Kaiwen (just to restate). F1are is very popular in Korea. One measure of this is their Kaokaotalk groupchats. KKT groupchats are a common thing for Korean fans to participate in, and show how strong a group's Korean broad support is, and F1are currently has 3x the amount of fans in their groupchats compared to ALD1. Another measure is social media. F1are actually out-trended ALD1 the morning and night after the final episode in Korea on multiple social media sites and on k-twitter, and have had more engagements on some of their social media posts than ALD1. F1are's twitter, created by Korean fans, currently has over 42k followers, with their biggest tweet having more than 70k likes and almost 6 million views. I've seen several k-tweets with 60k+ likes talking about them too. They've gone very viral among korean B2P watchers and some of the general public. Important things to note - F1are is different from EVNNE and BY9 (the produce x 101 secondary group fans pushed). EVNNE just sort of happened months after the final episode, and wasn’t a highly coordinated push by collective fan power. BY9 was a highly coordinated push from fans, but never out-trended X1 or were more popular than them. F1are is genuinely unprecedented - this is the first time a secondary concept group has had more Korean support than then the group who made the debut line-up. Most of the F1are member's DC Gals have agreed to and promoted the group's lineup, meaning there's actual cooperation and agreement for the group among their individual fans. They've already started sending out mass-emails and fundraising. Junmin, Leejeong, and Donggyu went pretty viral during the last episode on Korean social media sites for good reasons. Haneum went super, super mega viral on korean twitter, and multiple posts about him had more than 100k+ likes. There is renewed interest in multiple F1are members meaning there is a lot of momentum for them right now. Korean fans have already created F1are’s korean wiki page, other social media profiles, drafted out fandom names, created official art, etc. It's super serious for them. If people aren't paying attention to korean social media sites they probably don't know this is happening at all. Now, let me speak very bluntly about F1are member’s odds of joining the group. I do think something can come out of this, but I don’t think it will be all of the ideal members. Likely to be in F1are --> Leejeong and Junmin (WHIB's company is about to or has already filed bankruptcy and have gotten into legal trouble for not paying any of their staffers for over 8 months - I think it's fair to say WHIB is over). Woojin (he has no company or place to go back to). Haneum (his staff members have said the company and him are open to joining a group). Liyu (he's from FNC, who debuted Ampers&one only about 2 years ago - it wouldn't be smart for the company to debut a new boygroup right now). Not likely --> Donggyu (I did some further research into his company IST, and they're super broke, have lost half the amount of company workers they had since the start of the year, and were bought out. I thought them being bought out was a good sign of new investment but nope - IST was sold to a copyright company for very cheap and has a reallllly bad ratio of debt to income, beyond the point where any company would buy them in hopes of revamping them. The new owners bought them likely just for The Boyz music’s streaming profits. That being said, even if they are broke, they have enough trainees to debut a boy group and have given Donggyu strict orders on not showing his face in public - it’s likely they’ll put any money they have left or the little they got from being bought into a low-budget debut as a last-ditch effort to survive. There's a really big chance Donggyu will be stuck with the group considering he’s the most popular of their trainees and they wouldn’t let him go if they plan to debut a team). Sen and Masato (their company, INKODE, have already been discussing debuting a boygroup and they’re likely core parts of it). Unknown --> Kaiwen (went back to China already, generally unknown if his company would let him go back to Korea to debut or keep him in China). Kangmin (Verivery is already preparing a comeback so it’s assumed he’ll be joining then - the reason why I put him here is because Kangmin might prefer to debut in F1are instead of returning (some Verivery members are getting close to military enlistment time so there isn’t a lot of time left for them to promote with most of the members except Dongheon and, realistically, F1are has more potential for long-term levels of success). There’s also a chance he stays in both groups and promotes simultaneously). Inhu (his company BPM does have some notable soloists and some groups but I’d say the company is mid-tier - don’t know what they’d prefer to do with him). That’s a basic run down of everything. Basically, F1are is doing something new with unprecedented levels of popularity, and Donggyu might be cursed unfortunately.

Jeff, thank you so much for your reactions! After watching the whole season together with you, I honestly felt like I was watching it with a friend. Besides the fact that we have the same favorites — Donggyu and Junmin — your reactions are so funny and so similar to mine! It really felt like someone out there understood me, and that was so nice. When I saw you posted an update, I got so excited, because I thought after the finale episode I wouldn’t see you anymore or know what you think about the latest news. Really hope Our favs will debut together, even though i think Ist will want our donggyu to debut in their group. Lets hope not (if he’ll get that opportunity). Also i agree I definitely think we’ll get to see hidden talents of the members of Ald1, I still remember i was so shocked to hear gunwook and even jiwoong vocals after debut. I felt so stressed during the season about dong-min ranks , so even though they didn’t debuted in Ald1 i feel relief 🤣 i have high hopes! I will wait for your updates 💕

Mika

It would be nice if this resulted in a second group and I’d love to support them if it happens! That being said I think we’re in a spot where people would have been unhappy regardless of who didn’t make it in ALD1. The global lineup and K lineup were so different, like you could tell by the screams in the venue how much they wanted Liyu in the group. I really hope they end up making a group with these trainees or even see them debut elsewhere together bc now that Mnet officially announced Home Race I feel like it’s time to have that conversation about how they scammed K trainees a bit too with the merge. Obv C planet got the worse end in B2P they cut so many of them early on and I’d never say I don’t want to have these C members that made it, but now that we’re getting a dedicated Chinese group where’s our dedicated K group? This F1are project could be that and it would help handle the situation they put themselves in by merging to begin with. I don’t think ALD1 is a bad lineup by any means but it definitely felt like global votes held more weight, maybe just because of how many global fans there are. Bc of this I do feel bad for the kfans because imagine they’re making a K-pop group and you basically don’t get your lineup because other people around the world had a greater say. People are def taking it too far on somed tho, because I see so many people wanting Sanghyeon to leave the group just because Liyu/Woojin isn’t there like ??? Are we fr he achieved his dream by you guys voting for him and now you want him to leave?

Lynn

I am already SOLD and really looking forward to ALD1's activities and content coming up. They are so exciting even just with the short lives they have done so far, and I am not worried about the vocals. I can't WAIT until they start uploading tiktoks like how zb1 did during the intermission between the finale and debut, many of which went viral. + I think everyone needs to see this tiktok that highlights some of the vocal capability of each member in the lineup https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTM22dnLR/ They sound GOOD.

Mika

With all that being said tho I really hope everyone comes to love ALD1 because regardless of who made it all these boys were deserving of making the group, and I’m really looking forward to their debut and going thru this journey. I love your reactions and I hope to see more 🤍

I've been watching survival show's since K-Pop Star Hunt (IYKYK) and even chinese survial shows and these things should already be considered as tradition: 1. The immediate hate for the final lineup (which eventually subsides) 2. Solo stans from non-debuting trainees dragging the debut members 3. The immediate want for a secondary group (which does not happen because it's more complicated than what people think specially coordinating with the respective agencies and agencies plannng on debuting their own trainees. EVNNE is a different case since not all of them were part of the top 16) 4. Toxic solo stans from the debut group 5. MNET Survival show groups always thriving in the end (and no, let's not talk about X-1. Let's not re open that wound). I remember people HATING on Gyuvin and Yujin when they originally became part of the final lineup (because u know, Keita & Jay), Ricky not fitting the ZB1 dreamy concept, Taerae throwing a curve ball and changing the rankings, and Gunwook getting the villain edit from earlier missions. But look where we are now. ZB1 members now are just irreplaceable. It will be the same for ALD1, every member has a place and purpose within the group. Again, I'll keep on saying this: I have my 1 pick (Geonwoo) during the show but once they're a group, I'll love ALL of the members and love the group in general since they're all 1 team. It's okay to grieve if ur faves don't make it but do so by not dragging any debut members down since they ALL are talented and deserve to debut and it's just that the majority want what they want.

Mika

100% agree I’m certain the drama will die down since this is normal with every svs Also YESSSS let’s love all 8 of them 🥰

Florence Tonsing

My top 3 picks were Sangwon Junmin and Jiahao. 5/6 picks (sangwon junmin jiahao leo anxin geonwoo) made it so i will support ALd1 happily but im also heartbroken for junmin so i really hope this f1are things happen as i really like the line up apart from masato lol but as long as junmin is there i am willing to accept him . I liked sen, dongyu, kaiwen, inhu, haneum, kangmin Woojin and leejeong as well so its a bonus for me My last season main picks were keita(fav), jeonghyeon(wrecker) and Taerae(wrecker). only taerae made it. So im happier this season as i have 2 main picks in. My p1 is Sangwon (fav) , jiahao and junmin are my sub/2nd/wreckers

Florence Tonsing

Fans used to complain about 50% korean and 50% international vote.. but i do like the system as there is balance in the line up. I have never liked any 100% korean line up and 100% intl line up until now. We would have lost Taerae last season without korean votes. Intl fans kept blaming k fans for not voting for talented trainees but they wont vote for talented trainees like junmin taerae haneum etc.. 😌

Gem571

Yes I would LOVE the second group. It would be all of my faves together. I didn’t really have any of my faves make it in ALD1. Kangmin is my fave having know him for so many years but my second faves were Junmin and Donggyu. I don’t know if it’s actually going to come to anything but I would be so excited if it did. Btw Jeff - did you see Donggyu and Kangmin hung out together. Kangmin said in his instagram live that Donggyu wasn’t meant to be photographed as he’s still a trainee and against company policy. So he felt bad that he didn’t wear a mask and they got recognised. And then the next day Kangmin Junmin inhu Donggyu and Siwan hung out together for a meal. So they are all still very much keeping their friendships which is so nice.

BZ

I don’t have a problem with f1are and some I would have loved in Ald1, like Junmin, Donggyu and Kangmin. What I don’t like is the hate and lies that some of the f1are fandom are saying about the Ald1 members. It is so disrespectful and immature. I don’t comprehend why some people in the f1are fandom seem more concerned with pushing hate and lies instead of focusing on who they like and want in f1are.

Nawal Kirmani

It was very interesting to see such darker, more energetic/loud concepts this time as compared to the previous boys planet season. Mnet clearly are targeting a different concept, based on their group name and a global push. Another thing that I found interesting was the votes: the votes in boys planet averaged 1-2 million per candidate in each round. When you compare the previous votes to the boys 2 planet votes, it's quadruple the total number votes. The top 8 votes all had at least 4 million or more.

Nathalie Salud

i honestly think that the debut lineup is very strong as well. I don’t think a hate train on X would ever affect that, and if i’m being honest, sangwon deserves so much more than what wakeone could ever give and i hope hybe knows that they fumbled hard HARD with this man. I do think that ALD1 will be very successful considering how big their fanbases are in both global and korea, esp having 3 chinese members here which gives them a leg-up if they want to tap into the chinese market, and yea, at this point it’s just the matter of music chosen for them. for f1are, first and foremost, i really really wish for donggyu to leave IST 😔 i just don’t understand why some trainees were able to go to their fancafes, can show their faces on other people’s social media, but with donggyu it seems that he’s never allowed to do all of that 😭 which is a shame bc they would’ve taken advantage of his popularity rn, idk how possible it is rn but i hope his kfans wouldn’t stop yielding for his participation in f1are with his global fans backing them up because this would really be a strong group if ever they were able to get all these trainees and get a company that can make it happen.

Irving

I really am happy with the line up, even with some of my picks not making it. and I do think it is the line with that really fits with the concept mnet is pushing. now this might be an unpopular opinion, but even though I'm not against a secondary group (like I love evnne), I kinda don't like the idea of pushing that other group even with less than a day that the line up was formed, like we should respect who won the show, and then maybe later push for a secondary group, and like the ald1 members are getting so much hate...but that is just my opinion

jeffavenue

wish i could pin this comment! so much insight here. i do wanna follow up with a question: at what point can trainees leave a company? we have heard about trainees leaving companies all the time. so wouldn’t donggyu be able to leave if he wanted to as long as there was no exclusive contract to debut?

Laure

You made some very interesting points. I have been on x, and honestly, I personally had to search for eliminated members' names to see the convo regarding F1are. I am all for the group, but I believe the way they are taking it is wrong. Most of their fans keep on hating on the debuted members and that only fuel hates from the debuted members' fans and prevents others from supporting f1are even if they initially thought of doing so. Another commenter mentioned f1are trending higher than ald1, and while that is true, the difference in the number of posts was quite big. If I remember correctly, f1are was trending at number 1 with 24k posts, but ald1 was trending at number 2 with 200k+ posts. After few hours, ald1 kept trending, but f1are was no longer in the trending list. Also, the hype for eliminated trainees always makes so much noise after every survival show finale. People hyped up Jay and Keita so much, but they were barely there during their debuts. Junmin and Dongyu were trending so much on X during the last few episodes, but they were not even nominated for the 8th position. All that to say that the likes on X's posts do not always translate into real statistics. Furthermore, the main reason Korean fans are angry is because Liyu did not make it into the lineup. Some fans are even hoping for Sanghyeon to be removed from the group due to that. If f1are gets to debut, the other members will be heavily overshadowed by Liyu and Kangmin's fans. Even though Dongyu and Junmin are very liked, their korean fans pale in comparison to the other 2. Kfans are known for being solo fans, and I could only imagine what fanmeets and other events would be like for the less popular members. All that being said, I do hope Dongyu, Junmin, and Woojin debut together, but in a group made for them and with an intention, not just from the rage of fans not seeing their picks make it into the lineup.

camila Valdez

Ok Imma rant a little haha I’m not against the new group at all, in fact, two of my main picks are there! (and some others were my picks at some point). That said, all the hate from a lot of fans of F1are (from what I’ve seen) towards the ALD1 members is taking away from my excitement. It feels like this new group is being formed just out of frustration (and I get it , people are disappointed their picks didn’t make it) but also with hate. So to me, it just doesn’t feel like the best way to start off a new group . Last time, when people wanted a second group of all the trainees who didn’t debut, it wasn’t about hating on the final group. This time, it feels like the negativity is really at the center of it (at least to me), and that’s a bummer. I do want to support everyone, but right now, all the toxicity on social media is making it tough to enjoy the final lineup and F1are. That said, if the new group does come together and has some of my favorites, I’ll definitely support them. But for now, the whole rage on Twitter is just making it hard to fully enjoy things. I just want everyone to be civil my god 🥹 so we can all support our faves. Anyways, I hope things calm down in the next couple of weeks so we can happily enjoy ALD1 and F1are.

Ms. T

My take on a second group is… go ahead but give it time. Give ALD1 their rightfully first shot at debut. And once they have done so, then by all means introduce the new group. Debuting (or even announcing really) them both around the same time with this level of divide on the topic is going to pit fans against one another and it’s going to be carnage which won’t be good for either.

hinata

I've experienced both sides honestly, with my one pick during pdx101 not making it into X1 (Lee Jinhyuk) and my one pick debuting in ZB1 (Zhang Hao), I understand both sides. What I don't like however, is the hostility of F1are fans, even getting to the point where they wish that Sanghyeon will leave the group because they think that the members will will bu11y him (which is utterly ridiculous btw) and how he will be left out because the ALD1 members already have their own cliques 💀. At this point, they are not a fan of him anymore (with how they're wishing on him giving up his dream to be an idol just because they don't like the lineup), they're just fans of the friendship he formed with Liyu during the show and they do not see him as an individual.

nins

Honestly this is just a summarized version of everything going on but I'm glad it's helpful! And regarding trainees leaving - it's complicated and depends on every agency and what contracts trainees sign. Once again, another long answer: Generally, most trainees sign contracts that stipulate you can't leave unless the company releases you (companies don't want to invest a lot of money into artistic development if their trainees are allowed to leave whenever they like). It's an investment perspective, so I imagine most trainees sign a contract that keeps them at a company for a set amount of time, and they either leave through a mutual agreement (i.e. - neither parties are getting anything out of the relationship), through being released (company doesn't want a trainee anymore - either they don't fit the company's artistic direction or the trainee did something or isn't learning fast enough), or through contract expiration (trainees might sign trainee contracts agreeing to be a trainee for a set amount of time (i.e. - a year) and after that time is over, both can discuss continuing or parting ways). When a company is about to debut a group, then trainees sign a new contract and that's when they can pull out relatively easily (but that rarely happens, trainees that get accepted into a debut line-up rarely ever back out). So, if you're a trainee who's signed a contract, and the company actually wants to keep you, and your trainee contract doesn't expire for a while, AND you haven't been offered a debut contract yet that would give you an option to opt out, it isn't easy to leave unless you want to pay a huge penalty fee. Some companies might be compassionate and let you leave if you really want to, but I think that's a rarity - it is a contractual agreement afterall. All this being said, smaller companies are more likely to "allow" their trainees to join an outside, secondary group compared to bigger companies. It makes sense financially - small companies can get passive income from one of their trainees being managed in a different group by a different music label, especially if that secondary group is successful. Small companies also save on their own expenses - they don’t have to spend the money to create and manage their own group around that one trainee. But, as we've seen with several post Wanna One and X1 groups, small and medium-level companies can be stubborn and try to create groups around one popular trainee from these survival shows, but that often doesn't work out well. These groups end up having some momentum but commonly lose popularity as the years go on (think AB6IX, CIX, etc.). The only ones we’ve seen return to their label and debut in long-term successful groups are IVE and Le Sserafim, but HYBE and Starship are far from small companies and both of those are girl groups. With IST specifically (because I am a Donggyu fan obviously), I am truthfully concerned. Considering how popular their trainee instagram have gotten, how they've started posting full trainee group dance challenges, and how strict they are regarding Donggyu (not allowing him to visit fan cafes during the show, not allowing him to show his face in public after the show ended, etc.), I don't think they have any intention of letting him go. Also, on a more personal level, I can't imagine him advocating for himself to leave if the company doesn’t give him the option - he’s very attached to Arctic/Rensho, and has showed he lacks self-confidence a couple of times (B2P actually leaked all the contestant's diaries without the trainees knowing and a few times in his diary he says stuff that alludes to low self-esteem). So, IST wants him, he likes his fellow IST trainees, and he doesn’t seem like the type to advocate or fight with a label to be released. There’s still a small chance IST decides the income he could get from F1are would be a better investment than trying to organize a whole group on their own around him, but idk. There is some good news though! Kstartnextdoor, the funny variety show with Jonathon, is actually doing an eliminated contestant episode of the show. Li Zihao is confirmed to be part of the episode, and there are apparently 4 other eliminated contestants joining. Haneum, Liyu, and Donggyu were sighted today separately, all actually dressed up and in full make-up and going somewhere. There’s a big chance they’re part of the 4 others invited. Not only is this exciting because we get to see them again (hopefully), but if knetz like their dynamics, it could be an additional popularity booster for F1are, which might put pressure on IST to let Donggyu join. UPDATE: So, the contract for participating in Boys 2 Planet leaked and it's bad. Essentially, CJEM stipulated even if a trainee isn't selected to debut in the main group, they own the exclusive rights to manage a trainee's activities and has the right to form another group with them, but MNET must let the trainee's company know within 14 days of the final episode. Basically, MNET could theoretically create F1are (or any group they want) because two weeks haven't passed yet and force a trainee to participate in said group for up to 5 years. Sounds exciting for F1are right? It's actually not. MNET being in charge of both ALD1 and F1are at the same time could mean preferential treatment to ALD1 (because why would they want a secondary group to outperform the first, winning group that came from their expensive survival show? It reflects bad in media and the optics). MNET running both could also result in an EVNNE situation where F1are wouldn't be able to attend award shows that ALD1 go to (like how EVNNE can't go to most of the award shows ZB1 attends). I guess we'll see if MNET forces F1are now. Keep in mind - KSTAR Next Door is a variety program owned by MNET - the fact that eliminated contestants are going there might not be a good sign anymore - it means MNET is interested in them. The C-spin off, Home Race, makes so much more sense now, because some of the contestants might not have a choice (a c-trainee alluded to being forced to or not having a choice in participating in it). I'm like actually scared now. That's three groups MNET or WakeOne might have to juggle (the C group might be a little different but we don't know yet). Oh my god.

Honestly, the second group probably won't happen. It seems imposible to get all these trainees that didn't make it, but people wanted (also complications with the companies probably). Even if they make Fl1re, some solo fans of other trainees that aren't in the line up will get angry again like they were with Ald1. You just can't please everyone. Also these ''fans'' of Fl1re are so hateful towards the official lineup, it feels like the new group they want will be formed out of spite and not actual support and love. They literally talk about the official group like they are some supervillains and they need to form a team to stop them. Like calm down, please. Since the finale I've seen so much hateful and just dumb comments from bitter people, it's actually insane-sinophobia and homophobia (because of Junseo making it). They say that there are too many chinese members, that Leo and Junseo and evil, Sangwon is arrogant and Sang Hyeon needs to be saved from them (like he didn't say himself he wanted to debut with Leo). They are literally creating naratives and digging up old photos (like Leo's dating rumor, that's literally from years ago and the person confirmed it's not Leo), or Sangwon being at the clubs with friends, like he wasn't an adult (wasn't thinking about becoming an idol anymore) and working as a Dj there? Also it turned out that it was a hosted party for a streetwear brand he modeled for, not that it matters. I even saw some people claiming Jia Hao was a bully, like where did that even come from? Trying to cancel them for everything and anything. Don't get me wrong, Junmin was in my top 8 and he didn't make it, but I'm not sending pointed hate towards anyone in the official lineup. I just hope the best for him and will support him, just like some of the others (I loved Zihao, Harry and Kaiwen too). If by some miracle this second group is formed, I hope it's like a year later after Ald1, because otherwise it would be toxic dumpsterfire both ways. And speaking of toxic, Fl1re enthusiasts should stop asking Kangmin to leave his group for something that's not even certain. Like right now the best way to help him is to support his already existing group. I know it's not just hate with the official lineup, since I have seen most people are okay with it, like me. I'm excited to see what Ald1 will bring to the table and I think you're right that we didn't see everything that they can do on the show. Also I hope for the best for the ones who didn't make the final lineup and I will continue to support them too. You don't have to choose a side and hate for no reason. It really is that easy and simple.

ok so something new about the trainees’ contract under mnet is being talked about rn https://x.com/hummingeum/status/1972845481622704397?s=46&t=YHzldHBie5yZjpxWAhswAw i don’t fully grasp the idea of it, but from what i understand, if mnet thinks a trainee that didn’t make it to the lineup still has potential they will decide within 14 days (from the finale) if they will hold them under their management? i’m still looking for a dumbed-down version of this but damn, this greedy ass company 😭 idk if it’s a good thing since if they decided to really make a 2nd group under wk1/cjenm/mnet the mistreatment and mismanagement might be worse. also, considering how big of a company cjenm is for other companies to say no to

ari

unrelated to ald1 but i hope you check out music bank lisbon once its out!!! crazy special stages, and i know youll like it a lottt

Ash

This is the thing I hate about survival shows; it's such a breeding ground for nastiness and hatred. People don't know how to be normal about things. It should be fun! For everyone! Not to mention, it's very likely the trainees who didn't make the debut group will have opportunities come their way thanks to the visibility of the show, like how &Team eventually formed. It's also wild that people really think their fan-made groups will turn into reality.

Mika

And Haneum, Liyu, and Donggyu where seen apperently having a schedule together around a day ago. Seeing the hype the familyz have been getting in Korea, I wouldnt be surprised if mnet snatches them. That’s honestly straight up cruel

Itsmehi123

I really don't care about whatever F1are thing they're trying to do and honestly, good for the trainees that they'll get to debut but what I HATE about those F1are fans are the amount of hate they're throwing towards all the ALD1 members as if they haven't worked hard to debut and as if they weren't voted to be the top 8. Just yesterday people started spreading a fake dating rumor regarding Leo (The one who captured the picture last year has said it's not LEO and also the same picture was used last year for Jennie and V rumor too). That post for Leo already has 5M views on korean X with people shitting on him (Mind you, most of them know it's not LEO but they want to hate so they will anyhow). Similarly, they posted pictures of Leo and Sangwon in the club or pubs with their friends and calling them all sorts of slurs (They're both legal adults and Sangwon was literally a DJ there), that post gained million views and people shitting on them too. Like...I get it you wouldn't like it if your pick didn't make it but hating and spreading false rumors is PSYCHO behaviour. Also there is a whole page on twitter "ALD1_OUT" (Korean..again) which has like 6k followers and they're even preparing to send funeral wreaths to LEO for that dating rumor (It's proven fake btw). This is literally the same shit they did to Seunghan last year and I'm just baffled. Do these people not have jobs or a life? Why can't they just let the group be in peace and support their picks in a respectful manner? Is it really that hard? All the homophobia I've seen towards Junseo, Sinophobia extreme towards Xinlong...how do people even have this much hate stored inside of them??!!! And acting like Sanghyeon would get bullied in the group (Mind you, Leo literally loves that kid like he birthed him, and so do the rest of the members). People really need to go out and touch some damn grass and breathe fresh air because all this hate towards a group that was formed like 3 days ago is getting insane.

Itsmehi123

Also to add, they have now started throwing hate over the way LEO walked to the podium after his name was announced. They're saying he's to cocky for putting hands in his pants pockets (Those pants don't even have pockets btw, he was holding them up so he doesn't trip), for not holding the mic with both hands (Again I'm utterly speechless) and for not crying apparently.....

jeffavenue

just saw they’ll be on kstarnext door next week with li zihao and suren 😲 as per their website: “We collaborate with global labels including WAKEONE, LAPONE ENTERTAINMENT, SWING ENTERTAINMENT, AOMG, H1GHR MUSIC RECORDS, and Amoeba Culture to create chart-topping music.” so if they do decide to debut groups from the show, they could debut under any of these labels i think? not sure

jeffavenue

ooo when will we get the livestream? and where to watch?

Nathalie Salud

and kstarnextdoor is owned by mnet, wow. i think they’re trying to see how big the hype is with these members, obv these trainees are well loved by the kfans, this is the first time they’ve let the eliminated trainees go on a variety show before the main project group debuts

Juicy

Jeff I felt the same way after the finale ended, I was so sad but after some time to sleep it off, I think I am okay. I still don't think I will be stanning ALD1, I likely will tune in for their debut and maybe their comebacks as well if the music slaps, and I do wish them the best! However, I am more-so excited for F1are though since two of my top picks are being pushed in this group lol. I have been holding onto a lot of hope and prayers for this to happen, but then I get on Twitter/X today and see an Dispatch article regarding the contract between ALD1 and CJ ENM/MNET, and it's not just the debut lineup members, it also about the contestants who DID NOT make it into ALD1 and how they have complete control over them as well. This is a summary of what was in the article: "Unlike earlier Mnet project groups with shorter terms (Wanna One – 1.5 years, ZEROBASEONE – 2.5 years), Boys II Planet contestants face a much stricter deal: a 5-year exclusive contract with CJ ENM/WakeOne plus an extra year of “special activities,” totaling 6 years. Members of the debut group ALPHA DRIVE ONE can only promote under CJ ENM during this period, with no solo or outside work allowed. The most controversial detail is that CJ ENM also holds full control over contestants who did not debut—meaning even eliminated trainees are blocked from joining other groups or debuting under their own companies until CJ ENM allows it." I don't know how accurate this is, but considering Dispatch posted it, I think I'm gonna go crawl into fetal position and cry my eyes out because what!? Like I am so confused, I don't remember them ever doing anything like this in the past seasons?? PLEASE GIVE US F1ARE. I NEED THIS LINEUP. 😭

Juicy

That's actually so disgusting and honestly I know which fandom who is likely doing all of that because they were the main ones targeting: Leo, Junmin, Kangmin, Leejeong, Xinlong, etc. And I hate to say it but there is a lot of toxic Liyu and Sanghyeon fans (I know it's not all of them), but I can't even tell you how many I have had to block on social media because they constantly targeted other contestants throughout the show, and the amount of bullshit I saw them posting online was literally making my brain spin. I have not seen the article about Leo yet, but I truly hope he is okay as well! <3

ari

seems like it's either on 10/9 or 10/16 based on updates, and usually music bank does post the performances on youtube, so hopefully they'll post all the performances instead of selectively :/

Maria Elena Feliz

The group I wanted to debut as a dream team after b2p is: Arctic, Nian Bo Heng, Andrew, Yoon Min, Haneum, Junmin, Donggyu, Leejeong, Kangmin, Zihao, Suren if it's a cute concept: Liyu, Woojin, Yunseo, Masato, Sen I am personally happy with the ALD1 line-up because they were literally my 8 picks, so I manifested that like there was no tomorrow. I would have liked Junmin to be a 9th member, but unfortunately that did not happen. I am curious about what they Will bring to the table and hope that the repertoire music wise, is good (chains level good).

Maria Elena Feliz

If this is true, then it's probably to avoid competition. Since Mnet knows that a lot of knetz are not happy with the final line-up, they want to prevent a group like F1are debuting so that ALD1 is not overshadowed by the eliminated contestants. I might be wrong, but this is the most plausible reason I can think of if this article is true, which coming from Dispatch I'm 98% sure it is.

Maria Elena Feliz

This is the reason that, after being a kpop fan for almost 20 years, I stopped investing time and emotion in the fanwars and fandoms and turned into a casual fan because this behavior is also seen during tours and live shows and knetz especially act like spoiled brats when they don't get what they want. For me, the ald1 line-up is perfect since it's literally my 8 picks, but I'm also sad other contestants didn't make it and I will support them individually as much as I can. I was a big fan of Andrew, Zi Hao, Yoonmin Haneum and boheng and the fact that they did not make it does not mean I will hate the current members. I can still mind my business and support them throughout their career. Knetz needs to transform that hate energy into positive energy towards their picks and support them in their project without hurting the current members. This toxic behavior is also why I was so traumatized after x1 disbanded. Yeah, the line-up was rigged, but they were all talented and perfect for each other, but toxic behavior ruined that. I just hope the 6 years last for ald1 and that the group has success.

Lora K.

I'm the same way my top four are the same and the other four I don't mind so that's enough for me to stan the group. I was upset that Junmin, Donggy, and Kangmin didn't make it, but after sleeping on it I don't mind anymore. Mnet is partly to blame about the intense response people had. 1. like you mentioned announcing the C-spin out right after, 2. promoting/showcasing certain trainees more than others had people develop deep connections to them to only end up not debuting them like Junmin, Donggyu, and Kangmin. But, another party to be blamed are Kpop stans, the amount of hateful comments I've seen about the group that made their debut is insane. People are crossing the line just to left up their faves. I like a lot of the trainees that didn't make it, but their fans are making them look really bad right now. Now hot take, if Mnet really debuts another group, the would be the most evil and money hungry move I've seen a company do. It would be an invitation to limitless comparisons and flood of hate to the trainees. It would also make the whole show seem useless. And frankly it's disrespectful to those who made it, because you can't promise them something and have them work so hard for it only to promote those who didn't make it instead.

Lora K.

This is horrible! I hope Leo is doing okay. I just saw videos of the group at their poster event and I noticed that Leo barely smiled :((

Lora K.

beautifully said 👏

Lora K.

It's such an unfortunate reality and I wish the companies did a better job at protecting their artists because even though we know the hate will subdue, the damage it will cause on some of the artist's mentality will be there forever :( My 5 picks made it to the lineup, but now that they are all a group I will support all of them ❤

Itsmehi123

yeah. If you notice the people were cheering loud for members but as soon as Leo cam out, it all quiet down. I t was heartbreaking to see honestly. Those Knetz should get a life and leave him alone.

Chels

In the midst of watching the video — was reading the comments and had some thoughts! (Before I start, I just want to say that the loud hate that we see is the MINORITY. Give the haters a couple months; they’ll get tired and move onto hating something else.) In this case, all the hate towards Ald1 coming from f1are fans makes me even more excited for what Ald1 is going to do and makes me not want to root for f1are. What’s that saying, born from the fire? The Ald1 members have everything going for them; they’re well-rounded, they’re visually very cohesive, and I honestly have no doubt that they’re going to come out the gates guns blazing. Mind you, only half of my personal line up made it (my lineup was: Sangwon, Jiahao, Xinlong, Junmin, Donggyu, Kangmin, Anxin, and I loved Woojin’s voice / I also started liking leejeong after the finale) and I will no doubt be following them on their journeys, wherever they end up — Stan verivery and whib! I’m also looking forward to the C spin off — my lineup is honestly already locked there 😂 Kaiwen, Sen, Zheyi, Jiang Fan (if he’s there), Suren, Zihao, Boheng, Bowen, and Hengyu!

Rodeo Princess

I honestly don't think I could fully support ALD1 even if my 6picks are there but I'm pretty sure they'll do good and will be successful. I might just be a casual listener if their music will be good

interp

Slightly off-topic (still about the b2p participants though), but I thought this was the best place to share. Donggyu, Haneum, Liyu, Zihao, and Suren will be guests on K Star Next Door on Oct 7th and 14th! It would be great if you made a reaction video on this. Thanks!

jeffavenue

yess i will be! the first part is out so i’ll film that maybe tomorrow or thursday! just got an audition to prep

stephanie44

really? most people i saw are pretty happy with the lineup. ok, maybe they wanted less c members and not leo, but the international fanbase was more inteligent. the most popular people maid it, i dont think it would be a big competition. leo and sangwon alone are a reason why the group is gonna be extremly popular. so i dont think this is true

stephanie44

i know im late, but i wouldnt go on twitter in generell. ald1 is getting a lot of love, since the most popular people made it, in the end people will always hate. but what is this about f1are, did i miss something?

stephanie44

true, i dont know if there is going to be a second like group. like many were debutet idols who already have groups. and i can image that some are gonna be in some groups like with the first one with xlov and onepact ect....but the most popular people made it into ald1. people would have hated no matter who made it tbh

stephanie44

sanghyeon and the members are clearly friends, you can see they are already friends in there content.people who think that are just haters. i was more for jumin or yumeki to make it...but honestly sanghyeon is gonna do well in the group

stephanie44

damn im happy i havent seen anyhing of this bullcrap about that second group and people accusing the members and hating on them for no reason. i saw most people beeing positiv and loving the members. (with exception of 1-2 things) we are gonna see some members in the c show anyway. and people like junmin, kangmin ect have groups and comebacks planned. like what are some people crying about anyway? the most popular ones made it, and were gonna see the other guys as well in the future. we dont even know if a second group is even going to happen (i doubt it) and it wouldnt be a as popular group, alone cause of leo and sangwon beeing in ald1. so i think this is weird, if in some time a second group is going to happen, i would be happy for the members and guys. but it wouldnt be vs thing. like the ald1 members are sweet and talented, just like the other guys on the show. so why hate?

stephanie44

lol this is the first time ihear about this f1are thing. i was like what? a fandom of a group that is probably not even happening

stephanie44

i totally agree. some kpop fans are so toxic for no reason. lets just enjoy it. i was also sad one of my favs jongwoo didnt make it into zerobaseone, and i wouldnt have choosen gyuvin or yujin (tho im always happy with everyone making it, i like most of the contestants and dont always have favs) but every member found theyre place. zerobaseone is perfect and most guys do good as well, or will gonna do well in the future. the same this season.i would have choosen junmin do be in the group as rank 7, but the lineup is still perfect. and the people who didnt make it will also find theyre place or stay in the groups they are right now. but got a lot more popular

stephanie44

tbh i think some are gonna be in the c show, and i can image junmin, kangmin staying in theyre groups

stephanie44

people where also complaing when zerobaseone debuted about the vocals, and this time again. the members all can sing, and leo can hit the high notes. it works.

stephanie44

this is so interessting. this is the first time i hear somethign about this f1are group. is this purely speculation or is there a reason for this? like a hint its really gonna happen? i thought kangmin, jumin ect are gonna stay in there groups, with having a comeback around. but maybe not

stephanie44

this sounds weird tbh. what isnt right for you?

stephanie44

probably someone who has something against leo or geonwoo cause this sounds weird. i dont think the lineup was suprising.it were the most popular guys (but international) koreans thank good didnt matter that much. they wouldnt have voted for leo or junseo much

stephanie44

thats why im not on twitter. didnt even hear anything about this second group. which i guess is just speculation? i support the guys where they are now. like veryvery and whib. (follow all the contestans on insta as well) even the ones who were gone long before the final. fighting is stupid anyway. why not support all the sweet guys. everyone deserves it.im exited about ald1 and the c show (tho its gonna be stressful)

stephanie44

im happy that the internation fans won tho. i dont think liyu is ready now or not on the talent level as the guys who made it. the k people wouldnt have made that great of a group full of k trainess. and people like leo/xinlong probably wouldnt have made it. i think the lineup is almost perfect. tho i always felt bad for the c trainess, now the k trainess kinda got the short end of the stick. with the c show. some k people would have made it in the lineup and c trainess have a extra chance in making it.but the c trainess had it even more harter making it in boysplanet. its a mess

stephanie44

agree with everything. but i think taeyoung or kai have main vocal material, and generell txts vocals are pretty great. but you dont need a jongho ateez vocalist. as long as the members sing good, everything is fine. which we see in a lot of groups. someone like leo as a main vocalist is great and the others can sing as well. the group could also go more into rap

stephanie44

most people were happy with the lineup. ( with exception of people like jumin ect not making it) the rest were probably k people

stephanie44

leo looks really happy now. this k hater suck, they hate him for everything. but most international fans love him and the group. and arent one hate cause of the smallest stupid stuff

stephanie44

its interessting that so many people loved donggyu and kangmin. i liked them as well, but was never as invested in them as in the ald1 members tbh

Zerose777

They’re good vocalists don’t get me wrong, but I fear even Gyuvin from ZB1 is a better singer than Kai and Gyuvin is a sub vocal and “the worst” vocalist in ZB1 which just is a testament to how strong ZB1 is in vocals. Kai from Txt is far from being a Main Vocal even their best singer Yeonjun is about the same level as Jiwoong. But Txt is more dance and performance based and their music slaps so it’s fine 😅
