This is it!! Can't believe I did 3 seasons back to back! Full series review on the outro but overall what an incredible series! Great premise and story expansion. Smart execution for the most part. And the main cast is just phenomenal! Lemme know your thoughts!

I'll review suggested kdramas!

well good morning to me! I binged this drama in 4 days with my dad and we LOVED it! S2 got lowkey boring at some points but in general the show was amazing! Loved your reactions too I'm glad u got used to the monsters eventually😂

Etoile2004

as a whole i love the show but nothing could compare to season 1 😭 so good, sad we lost so many characters though 💔

spideywoo

im pretty sure she didn't heal because only monsters can kill other monsters! At least that's what I got

Sabi

Off topic, but will you be reacting to Meovv's new comeback ''Burning up''? They released dance practice video as well 😁

jeffavenue

yes! im just reserving it for when im back at home so I have my usual set up. currently out of town.

Sabi

Not 100% sure, but I think the kid (girl) didn't die, she grew up. Like she did the first time in that grass when 3 humans hunted her. 2:13:55 picture shows her and the little boy. I believe that's her because her mom marked her with ink in her arm. I think she doesn't die she just gets older, so that's why she was contorting and screaming cuz she was growing.

Sabi

Yeey, looking forward to it!

Maddy

Ooh I see your point, especially with the black line on her arm. I was like who's that girl when it showed the picture of them. I wish they'd show a scene of her growing up at least; they probably don't want to cast another actress for just 1 minute clip.

Maddy

I think it's only man-made monsters, those with white eyes, that can be turned back into humans because we didn't see them go through the monsterisation process and become Neohuman later. I still enjoyed Sweet Home after rewatching it with you. But I feel they rushed a bit at the end, because where is Sergeant Tak? Did they forget about him and leave him in the stadium? There's no picture or clip of him returning and no one mentions him. Edited: I wonder if he died along with other special infectees because of the bomb? It was unclear to me because that protein monster appears in season 3 and fought Cha Hyunsu and MH, looks like he survived the firetruck fire.

the webtoon ended in season 1, but neohumans were already introduced at the end of it. humans > monsters > cocoons > neohumans. they are the last stage of monsterization and are like the leader of the monsters. they retain their memories but lack emotion. s2 and s3 are good, but could've been better with the concept about special infectees and neohumans. my only problem is that the writers poorly executed it. the ending felt rushed.

someone already commented it, yisu (yi-kyung's daughter) experiences exponential growth in moments of stress or when she dies. which was shown in s2 when peple are trying to kill her. so at the end you can see her with yeongsu (which i believe hyunsu brought him back as human).

Hi Jeff, Here I go again with a long reaction. Some things can be repeated because I was writing whilst watching haha. The Neohuman thing > Eun Hyuk mentions that they turn into a cocoon every time they die and, after dying an x amount of time, and being "reborn", the last form of monsterization happens, which is the Neohuman stage. With this explanation, my theory is that some monsters die 1 time and stay in the cocoon undisturbed untill being neohuman (for example, bathroom ahjumma committed suicide in the bathroom and, since she was not disturbed in her cocoon, she regained her human form as a neohuman), they are the most vulnerable when they are in the cocoon (hence why the other Monster protect it). Because they have already succumbed to their desires, and it's "too late", Hyun Su can't turn them back because the human is not there anymore, which would then explain the soulless neohuman and would explain why Hyun Su can't turn them back because there is no desire to prevent anymore. Looking at the inconsistency of the emotion aspect, my only explanation is that they start with the most inhumane emotions first, which are annoyance, maybe anger, boredom and disgust or one of the 7 sins. After a while, they can learn the other emotions which are more complex, but this is me trying to justify the writing and their loopholes (because I saw Eun Hyk laughing in the previous episode, which is also a hint of emotion). The cure/vaccine > So the doctor said to the prime minister that he would not be able to find the cure/vaccine that easily because he hid it in a "special place." That place was the special infectees that helped Sang Won (the small green bottle he retrieved from the girl's inside). He was worried they would get rid of him if they didn’t need him anymore, or he didn’t want to give them the power that it would bring them. He wanted to turn into a monster himself to test if the cure would really work, but like he said, he never got the symptoms. The "cure" was to test if he would turn special infectee or human, but he never got the chance to test it. He said something to the council about how they would take the vaccines themselves first, and then they started killing the humans, which basically proves that the so-called cure/vaccine is more a neohuman test result than human. The vaccine is made from MH-1 (Sang Won/Slime Monster), hence why he was not supposed to find out, because that would make him do something to the vaccine and that was what the doctor wanted to prevent. If I remember correctly, the scientist said that he made special infectees from Sang Won, so in their case they are another special type of infectees, because they were created with Sang Won's blood sample, hence why they are so obedient, and why the vaccine was so hard to get/find. In this case, Hyun Soo's blood could have been the real "cure" in vaccines if the experiments continued. But I think you got that part haha The scientist > I think he never got the symptoms because his desire of wanting to be a monster were too upfront instead of a desire he wanted to hide/ignore. Which basically makes the desire normal instead of a taboo and why he wasn't cursed. The reason why he swallowed the vial of blood is because he wanted the kid (Yi Su) to turn him into a monster now that he knows that it is an ability that she has and, with the vial, turn into a special infectee. Sang Won > As we all know, Sang Won is MH-1 and Ui Myeong. His original monster form is slime/goo (that's why his blood is green), this is why he is also referred to as the slime monster. His monster can be either good or bad. However, a plothole in the series is that when he turned into Ui Myeong (full desire version), he stole the consciousness of the original body (Sang Won) and started his search for the perfect vessel. Sang Won's desire was to find a cure but Ui Myeong turned that desire into finding the perfect vessel. The plothole starts when he enters the body of Sang Wook (Gangster Guy, recently vessel). When he was on the brink of death, Slime Monster transferred into his body and healed it (as per his abilities), but he was struck with bad luck, because Sang Wook is stubborn, which means that his consciousness is partly there and why he can't heal again after the inicial possesion. They showed some memories of Sang Wook, but the writers did not elaborate more on that and basically made it a plothole into the series, because we, as fans, would have liked to see him regain possession of his body (completely and not for a small moment) or at least show more of his stubbornness (an inner battle with Sang Won in his subconconcious) which unfortunately never happened. For me, it was SUPER poetic how Sang Wook died with Sang Won, because he lost his family in a fire and had his scar, and his ending is also in a fire. So that was super poetic for me. Eun Yu > It has been mentioned that the early signs of monsterization are the following: - Physical :nosebleeds, black eyes or body mutations - Psychological : erratic behavior, hallucinations or an inner voice In her case, it started with the inner voice. Her desire was to meet her brother again (desire upfront, everyone knew about it) only to be disappointed with his soulless version. So her desire to want to see him as her real brother, the caring one from the past, is the voice she was hearing (good old times) and that's where she knew her monsterization had started. Hence, why her curse is now active because she tries to stay strong and unbothered by the desires (hiding it/acting as if it was okay, and she can teach him everything) when, deep inside, she is not okay with it. At the end, she is a neohuman. Eun Hyeok and Hyun Su say, "But not everyone is back." What they mean by that is that Eun Hyuk has already learned to have emotions (the beautiful smile) but Eun Yu is a fresh neohuman who still needs to learn them. Slime monsters > Throughout the series there have been multiple slime monsters, and they can either be good or bad, so they are the most neutral monsters. The boy probably took that form because of his innocence? And maybe because he was saved by one in season 1. The kid > Sang Won (according to the theories), made a monster connection with Yi Su when she was still in the womb, so slime DNA is in her as well. When Sang Won died in the fire, I think she screamed because she felt his pain when burning alive. Due to that stress, she was reborn (another ability she has) and came back older again, which you can see at 2:13:56 hrs. You can see her mark and you can see the other kid (Green Home/slime kid) looking at each other. The ending of having peaceful coexistance is amazing and basically goes back to the question, what makes someone human? With neohumans being soulless, there is no good or bad, so conflicts are less likely to happen. But the fact that they created a sweet home is beautiful. Unfortunately, neohumans cannot be turned back, because Hyun Su can only reverse the desire and not the completed phase of monsterization (aka neohumanness haha). So Hyun Su is indeed a neohuman. As for the series in general, the priest and crazy girl did not make sense at all and were indeed a filler. I think this is better explained in the webtoon, but I don't really remember since it's been years I have read it. The writers should have made season three longer to tackle some plotholes, and diminish the feeling of it being rushed. But overall season 1 and 3 are my favorite.
