This is so bittersweet 🥲 But overall I had fun watching this! Great to here their songs again!

Would love to hear your thoughts on this whole situation tho. I feel like we'll have more of a nuanced conversation about this than reading twitter posts.

Also reminder I will be reacting to MMA! I wonder if Lay will be able to attend that...

PS. I had a question about Lay's sudden situation so the actual reaction starts at 8:00!

Certainly NOT CALLED because of the date. There's no tradition calling artist back to the country because of this. The annual day (National Memorial Day) was 13th Dec. every year and SM had already changed the date because of this and split the fan meeting into two sessions on the 14th, there shouldn't have been any problem with that. There were other Chinese Kpop idols still doing event in Korea. And LAY had posted a statement on Weibo the same day later, saying he had left the fan meeting because of the theatre event (peosonal schedule, not relating to the National Memorial Day) but he didn't attend anything at 14th Dec. Normally this kind of schedule is arranged way early, at least not supposed to announce it just five hours ahead of time. There are some other EXO arrangement (fansign and exo ladder) that were supposed to happen in Hangzhou, China had also got canceled (at least the flight schedule was) . All I can say is LAY is not reaciving a lot of positive feedback about this. (He's fans might say otherwise and there are other theories about this as well. But all I mentioned about the date, theatre event and flight schedule situation is objective.

SMP = SM Music Performance, basically SM’s signature perfomance style -- mixed genres, big and dramatic. Good examples would be TVXQ songs like Rising Sun and Keep Your Head Down. For EXO, MAMA is a classic SMP track. I also remember Kai mentioning in one of his bubble posts that their next comeback would have intense choreography.

The voice you keep hearing in the live that you can’t quite recognize is actually Lay’s. They kept his voice in the backtrack since there wasn’t enough time to fully rearrange everything. For most of the songs (the older ones), it seems like they used the original EXO-K versions (with only Baekhyun missing 🥲) so the adjustments would be easier.

To me CCP and China government are pulling strings here and there, and I think it's somehow related to the big event rumoured to be hold next year in China to "restart" Chinese-Korean relations abandoning The Korean Ban. I don't know, just... Nobody rejects The call of the country if they want to have a career in China. I am also afraid Lay won't attend MMA on 20th. 😭 I don't think people do realize how much logistics, contracts and efforts take this one Fanmeeting. I support them and wish upcoming comeback to be great and satisfying for all of the members 🤗

Really shout out to all the members. We all know that Exo's songs are full of heavy vocals and very complicated, but the 5 members still try their best to cover the songs—mad respect for them for carrying everything.

Po

They kept lays vocals in some parts that’s why you can’t tell who is singing

Well information came out from actual chinese fans on weibo that other chinese celebrities got called for this event as well and there was supposedly a big reaction from them complaining about the abruptness of it. It wasnt just lay.

Excited to watch this! Preparing before your MMA reaction 😍
