New characters unlocked! This story is moving alongggg.

Just 3 eps today cause I woke up late. Had a hard time sleeping last night 😅

Also there was a moment there that I was not getting what was happening but after rewatching it during edit, it seems like it was brand new information that we're yet to uncover.

General He was both Lord Li and Marquis Wu'an's martial arts instructor/mentor. I love seeing peeks of the Blood-iron Marquis coming out. Be they saving Ning or transforming from tender-caring nurse immediately into the brutal, all-powerful judge as he viciously stabs the butcher. Exactly, it's forbidden, and Princesses must make powerful marriage alliances. Thanks for your reactions.

Coco T

Your PJ reaction videos are what i'm living for recently! keep them coming PLEASE!

Michelle

Lord Changxin is the father of Qi Min (white hair guy). And you are right when the scene is so peaceful something big is about to happen. Get ready for the upcoming episodes. Thanks for the reaction😁😁

Dees

Ikr, having to resist the urge to continue watching alone is real too.

Coco T

A little tip for you, from now on, whenever you feel Qianqian's action is too modern style like, pay attention, it's not bad story writing...

Dees

Quick tidbit that’s been bothering me since the last few episodes. ChangNing doesn’t call him Yan Zheng like the subs say but “Brother in law”.

Deiseree

Lol I am currently on a trip to China. This is so timely and on theme haha. Perfect time to watch while relaxing after a long day of walking😊

And also it's probably hard to tell from the English version, that Changyu, growing up as a no schooling girl, can rarely read in characters, and also doesnt understand words those are too advanced, and because of that, whenever some leave her a note or letter, she doesnt really understand the full meaning but can only guess a little bit, and when people say some advanced words like BAO TIAN TIAN WU (which is an idiom meaning a huge waste of super valuable things) she doesnt really understand either. And whenever things like this happen, her husband always try to help her and never once say anything that could make her feel ashamed.

Coco T

Who is it, in Chinese you can say SHEI,sounds like shay but your tune goes up at the end.

The white hair is from another country, a hostile country vs the country Xie Zheng is loyal to. Every parties else so far and Xie Zheng are all from the same country. The White hair guy is the prince of the other country. You can not tell because it's not translated but how he call himself: GU meaning I but only for the prince. And how he call his Father: FU WONG, meaning Father, the King.

Here’s what’s been revealed so far, without revealing the end game. 16 years ago, the then crown prince, Chengde, and Xie Zheng’s father, the great General Xie Lishan, died in what they’ve been calling the massacre of Jinzhou, where 100,000 soldiers were killed due to the failure of reinforcements and supplies from getting to them, leading to them getting weak and vulnerable to the attack of the enemies. What actually happened will slowly be revealed in the later episodes. Prince Changxin is the leader of the Sui clan and has aspirations for the throne. However, Wei Yan holds the power because of his 2 powerful blades, General He (the one that taught Xie Zheng and Li Hua’ian how to fight), and Xie Zheng. Xie Zheng’s mother was the sister of Wei Yan so although he belongs to the Xie clan through his father, he has ties to the Wei clan through his mother. Wei Yan had also raised him at a young age ever since his parents died, and had treated Xie Zheng more as a son than his own son, Wei Xuan, the overly ambitious but incompetent guy that wanted to take over Xie Zheng’s army. So there’s some sort of familial relationship/ties there in the mix. In order to weaken Wei Yan’s hold to the empire, somebody from Prince Changxin’s side wanted to subvert Xie Zheng by putting suspicion on his uncle’s involvement in the massacre. When Xie Zheng started investigating, somebody tried to assassinate him to prevent him from finding out the truth. At this point, the show hasn’t revealed yet who did it, but it has hinted of the uncle’s involvement because it was the uncle’s people that came looking for Xie Zheng’s body and killed any remaining survivors. That’s the scene where Xie Zheng was hiding in the bushes while men in white cloak killed the survivors. In this last episode, Qi Min (white haired guy) has hinted about his own claim to the throne via that seal that he asked his right hand man to show to Xie Zheng as proof. Their goal is to get Xie Zheng on “their” side. Now whether it’s on the Sui’s (his father) side, or his own side is not clear yet, but you can tell by the way he talks about Prince Chanxing that he hates him. Xie Zheng has a lot of loyal followers and is a formidable ally to have because of his military prowess. At this point, it’s not known yet what Qi Min’s claim is to the throne, whether it’s through Prince Changxin or something else. Although by his name, you could kinda guess what that claim is. He has 2 names, Qi Min and Sui Yuan Huai. To most people, he’s known as Sui Yuan Huai, the 2nd son of Prince Changxin. Prince Changxin has an older son who we haven’t seen yet but has been mentioned, Sui Yuan Qing, and is his current heir. So given that, one possible theory is that Qi Min wants to be the heir instead of Sui Yuan Qing, at least that’s what the story wants us to see for now, but the seal (and his name, Qi Min), makes you think it’s more than that. As for Changyu’s father’s involvement, we know at this point he played a part in the massacre but we don’t know yet how. But we know he was in possession of a letter that Wei Yan was desperate to get hold of, which makes you think it’s incriminating evidence against Wei Yan. We also know Changyu’s father and General He were friends and he had entrusted the letter and his daughters to him before he died. But Wei Yan thought the letter was with Changyu that’s why he had been sending assassins to look for it and to kill the girls. When General He learned that the girls had been getting harassed, he sent the letter to Wei Yan so that he would stop going after the girls.

Okay without spoilers again— 😅💜 Qi Min is oldest son of Chanxin - Prince Sui the rebel clan. Qi Min and Xie Zheng know each other. (i think you didn't catch Qi Min instructing Zhao to go to Xie Zheng with a seal "former crown prince", his identity and role in the series revolves around that) Sometimes we asked questions based on our perspective and tend to forget that their era is different from ours 😅. Qi Min is not possessive, he is a madman 🤣. Gongsun telling Empress Dowager about the princess identity rippled to Dowager and Grand Tutor Li arranged marriage for the princess and Li Huai'an (Xie Zheng needed him out of Xigu Lane, so it's like Gongsun indirectly found a way to lure him out Linan town 😅 thats why Xie Zheng is wondering what Gongsun did to get rid of Li, because his letter through the falcon was vague) Yes Fan Erniu is Changyu's father... it was mentioned multiple times. It was mentioned that he works under Wei Yan, so from that alone you should expect that its not his real name.... Like Xie Zheng and his elite cavalry are all Xie... You just missed some points and this is not to spoil you.... they keep referring to Lord Chanxin Prince Sui the rebel clan, and Qi Min calls him father (father never cared for me.... father's plan may fell because marquis is alive.... Qi Min was the one who spread the rumor Wei Yan (chancellor kept hiding esp from Xie Zheng his nephew) the Sui clan, wants the Marquis dead because he holds the northwest and also to weaken the chancellors military powers and Qi Min, while obeying his father's instructions, had other ulterior motives. also about the kiss, I think it's because of the uncertainty that they both have reservations Changyu believes Yan Zheng/Xie Zheng will eventually leave and as per Qian (her friend) he is set for greater things Yan Zheng believes his identity will cause her trouble and even if he returns he's unsure if he's even be alive, also being a marchioness of a great clan would restrict Changyus free spirited character After the kiss was the second attack in their household wc reminded them both of the reality they are facing... Chanyu, unsure why they were attacked doesn't want to drag him ... and Yan Zheng being reminded once again of his ongoing investigation that is unfolding to be more complex. If you remember the factions and names I commented last week you'll be able to understand their relations more 😅. remember Qi - royal clan- Emperor Sheng and Grand Princess Xie - Military - Xie Zheng and iron clad cavalry (his elite soldiers) Wei - chancellor Wei Yan - Wei Xuan (also Xie Zheng on mother's side) Li - Grand tutor Li - Commander Li Gonsun - Scholar (BFF) Sui - Rebel - Lord/Prince Chanxin-Qi Min once you're used to a cdrama esp historical ones it'll be easier for you to follow... but poj is actually one of the cdramas that is well structured and. One thing that I love about your reactions is whenever you giggle😹 and whenever you refer to a confusion as "we" 😅 as if most of us had not watched this multiple times.. I always enjoy watching it your reactions. Till next week blessings 💜 BTW: in Cdramas/historical, white hair often indicate that the person is dying or terribly ill.

Yay time to get my snacks

Quick note: Zhang Linghe's mother sent him to calligraphy classes when he was young, and the reason his writing is always so elegant.

jeffavenue

ooo thanks! Im saving to read this til before next filming session so it's fresh in my mind

jeffavenue

OMG I thought changxin was the white hair guy cause of google images 😅

jeffavenue

OH! thanks especially for the bullet points of the last names. that will help a lot cause im like what do they have against each other 😩 ALSO WAIT I LIKE THE WHITE HAIR. HE'S DYING????

Darllyn L.

I'm really enjoying watching this again with you and with the others here.. it's so fun to hear the comments of each other. haha

jeffavenue

Oh so it IS martial arts? wasn't sure about that

jeffavenue

jeffavenue

ooo I wanna visit china too! have a safe trip!

Jane Madriaga

🤣 white hair in historical cdramas (most of the time) indicates dying or terribly ill, you already noticed he was coughing/sick.. I will not spoil anything... 😅😹

jeffavenue

ah yes I did kinda get that feeling too when she was trying to read the new year couplets

Darllyn L.

oh and their historical dress is called Hanfu I think

jeffavenue

OHHH ok that makes sense about the alliance that he wants

blu3.hour

I started watching this show with you but I couldn’t wait to finish it, so I went ahead and completed it lol. It’s also the first historical cdrama that I’ve finished😭

Syn Tri

Yep. Remember the Marquis's flashback about him practicing with Gen. He when he was young at his uncle's house. Then, apparently, with Lord Li for about 6 years.

Syn Tri

I just saw that Pursuit of Jade (逐玉) has been nominated for Best Asian Project at the prestigious 2026 Global OTT Awards Asia Contents Awards. The only Chinese drama nominated. The drama also earned nominations for Best Actress (Tian Xiwei), the only Chinese actress nominated, and Best Supporting Actor (Deng Kai). Thanks so much for another episode.

Rosie

I think you might have spoiled a lot on your first paragraph. I would say Jeff to just keep watching and read this comment towards the last episode. 😅

Rosie

that's a lot of revelation and spoilers. lol. we're just in ep 13.

Lani S

Which ones are spoilers?

Lani S

there you go. I cut out the part about the master mind. I've watched this several times that I get confused on what's supposed to be common knowledge (the massacre) and which ones are not. I thought I made sure to not reveal things that have not been revealed yet. sorry about that.

ImJu

I subscribed for this show!!! I make sure to like every POJ upload so you don't get discouraged!

Ching

Resubscribe just for this.. Always excited for your reaction

Coco T

To correct it a little bit, i double checked it again last night. It is not entirely a separate country, but a vassal state, like a semi-country that is self-ruled but still under the control of QI.

Deiseree

Thank u!!! Going to try to find my own Marquis of Wu’an😂

Helena Hendrixson

They’ve done such a good job of establishing Xie Zheng as formidable even though he’s spent most of the show hurt and male-wifed. He’s like a force of nature: so many people fear him but also want him on their side. They’d rather he fight for them than be dead. It’s so compelling! And Linghe is acting the hell out of the role! He seems so composed and unbothered but also so ruthless at times. Some cdrama leads do not seem powerful to me, they seem kind of corny and appear to brag without the presence to back it up. He seems so genuinely powerful though. He’s fearsome while also being very complex, warm, and devoted to his new family. The character and actor are both amazing!

i honestly feel like the subtitles here are kind of confusing in that it tries to literally translate everything more than trying to make sure the person watching understands what's going on, on netflix even though the subtitles might not 100% convey every word they are saying, it does do a much better job of making sure everything they say related to the politics and scheming that's going on is more understandable. Like instead of literally translating sayings from Chinese into english they'll translate them to English sayings that you would understand
