I’m like just 20 minutes in but I just wanna say, I love the character analysis and how you explained where each side is coming from. Made me understand the characters even more compared to when I first watched it. Actors really have a better sense of understanding the characters they’re watching. Also, love how you explained the technical aspects of the drama.

Also, to answer your question Fan Daniu is the uncle. They said Fan Daniu’s wife and father = Chang Yu’s aunt and grandpa. So unfortunately they did not survive, which is why they decided to not tell Chang Yu yet, since she might not take the news well. The clue there is that they all have the same last name “Fan.” Chinese names are structured similar to Koreans. Last name first then first name. Hence Fan Chang Yu, Fan Changning, Fan Daniu.

Finally! These are the episodes I've been waiting for you to react to. The Marquis's comeback scene was epic—it even went viral. The headdress he wore is called a pheasant feather headdress. It typically represents high-ranking generals or legendary fighters. Zhang Linghe, the actor who played the Marquis, actually suggested it to the director. His goal was to break down the barrier between the stylized theatricality of traditional opera and modern visual appeal. Quick note on the family: Fan Daniu is the uncle. His father (the grandpa) was killed, along with his wife (the aunt). All of the cast did exceptionally well here, and their popularity really soared—especially the second leads like Deng Kai (Qi Min) and Snow Kong (Yu Qian) Fun fact:Snow Kong (who plays Yu Qian) is a member of a Chinese idol group. She was actually trained under JYP Entertainment (I think during the pre-debut era of TWICE )before returning to China. It's so satisfying to watch your journey from having no knowledge of this drama to now having spot-on analysis. The best part is that a lot of your interpretations ended up being foreshadowing! 😊 BTW, the old lady called Changyu "mistress" (short for Mrs.) because in archaic times the original meaning of "mistress" was the head lady of the house—in an authoritative sense. She was the one mastering and running the home (the original sense of "mistress"), distinct from a concubine. The original meaning got lost over time and evolved into the complete opposite of what we understand today. Always enjoy your reactions. Till next week 💜 BTW... I find it really funny when and old blind lady was taken out of her own home just because Changyu misunderstood the whole scenario 😅 Also the "not Changing" is a universal reaction 🤣 as well as the spin off for her and Baoer. Thanks for the reaction Jeff! This drama is so good and so well written so far. This scene made it clear why the first part of the drama focused a lot on Linan city and its villagers. Knowing the characters made their deaths more sad and difficult. I also love how in the face of death, miss Kang (the gossiper) and the daughter of the magistrate (the one who was engaged to song yan) didn't betray Changyu even though they were not close. I am not sure if I get this right but from the discussion between the chancellor and his son, it sounds like it was the son that attempted to kill the marquis and not the chancellor. But I still find him sketchy and thinks he might have played a role in this. Although it's my 2nd time watching the drama, it's my first time actually understanding the plot alongside with you lol. I couldn't bother thinking that far when I watched it originally

The messenger was supposed to knee down or at least bow to the White hair dude and present the letter but he didnt, it shows how much the Prince Changxin look down on him and so even his messenger didnt care to even act in front of the white hair guy.

despite how disgusting the character of SUI YUANQING is, the actor was only 19, i think, when he acting in this drama. So kind of impressive. This actor in real life from some videos fans took, look just like a kid, shy and everything haha

They say it was the bird, the falcon who knock down something and put on a fire between Changyu and the other guys to try to protect her, you can tell from the burn injury that Xie Zheng saw later.

A Chinese variety show with Zhang Ling He (POJ), Liu Luning (POB), Dilraba Dilmurat (YAMG), and 3 other actor cast members. What's amazing is that they rank #1, #9, and #3 on China's Global and Domestic actor/actress marketing lists. I can't imagine Hollywood's elites solving comical murders and doing hilarious physical tasks every season. Hello Jane, did they show how Changning was taken? The last thing I saw was she and the gossiper grannny's grandson was still hidden under the bed and the dresser was knocked down so that they were hidden. Or is that going to be shown later? Just making sure I didn't miss a scene. Thanks!
