I am SO IMPRESSED by how much this is a REAL tv show. Gah I miss these kinds of shows: the world building. So many details and arcs to the story and the battle is JUST beginning. Also kudos to them for making so many characters interesting -- not just the main two leads.

They built a dam in an existing river. Remember when Changyu was filling up her water bottle and first met the scout that was being chased by the soldiers? She was wondering why the water level was low. That's because the dam was stopping the water from the river to flow downstream. The whole point of the dam was just to temporarily keep the water from flowing downstream, accumulate more from the rain, then breach at the right time to generate a flood wave from the force of the trapped water being released all at once.

Recall that when Changyu told the grand tutor about seeing the dam, it was raining outside. She had also mentioned that despite the approaching spring rainy season, the water level remained very low. Therefore, it was actually the spring rain period at that time.

One sneeze means someone is thinking of you; two sneezes mean someone is cursing you; three sneezes mean you are catching a cold. This is what we like to joke about when someone sneeze in China.

Just soooo happy rewatching and dissecting the show with you! 🤩🤩🤩

Just a quick clarification here. “Mistress” in the previous reaction actually means wife of the “Master”. Xie Zheng was referred to as ‘the Lord/Master’ by his subordinates. So the old lady calling Changyu ‘Mistress’ makes sense.
